Klaus sat in the nursery, bouncing Beatrice on his knee. The nursery door swung open. Klaus looked up. It was the mysterious figure he saw in the tower. Beatrice bawled loudly. He lifted her into his arms. "Shhh," he said. "It's okay, Bea." He turned to the figure. He noticed she had long, red-gold hair, sticking up like a mop. Her skin was a dark red colour, her eyes were cyan with black sclera. Her fangs were as sharp as Japanese culinary knives; her bat-like wings were as red as her skin. 2 horns protruded from her head. Instead of hands, were claws and instead of legs and feet, were red hooves. Klaus placed Beatrice in her crib. The creature flew into the room.
"Who are you?" asked Klaus in a soft, gentle voice. "Are you the being my friends and I heard in the tower?"
The creature growled. "I'm Klaus," he continued.
"You shouldn't be here," growled the creature. "This is my father's house, and he left me this house in his will. I should be asking you. How did you get here?"
Klaus sighed. "Mr Poe sent me and my sisters here." he said coldly. "He asked me to write about our life, so we can give our story to Lemony Snicket."
The creature laughed. "Really?! In this dark, dingy prison? Who would want to write a story in this miserable place?"
"I would," said Klaus. "I love books. Look, who are you? Where is my ex, Sunset Shimmer? That's the real reason I came back. To find the woman I loved."
The creature looked at him. She flew out.
