Chapter 20: Depths of the Ocean Dragon

Third POV

Kurama walked back to the team, only to see the girl who caught his eyes tearing up beside her sister with an annoyed look.

"What a fool. So, intent on proving himself that he didn't noticed your moves" Hiei said,

"And don't worry, his demon twin vanished when he died." Hayami said,

"So, you two knew?" Kurama asked as he still looked at the tearing Ranumi as the two mates nodded,

"What a relief." Yusuke said causing the three demons to look at him.

"Yes." Kurama said, smiling softly to know that his human mother is safe.

"Okay, enough with the secret glancing stuff. Tell us what happened." Kuwabara said,

"Yes, do tell." Botan said,

"It's past." Hiei said as Hayami nodded,

"Agreed." Kurama said as he approached Ranumi calmly,

"Uh! That isn't very friendly of them." Botan said,

"Those demons think they're so darn cool." Kuwabara grumbled,

"Ranumi..." Kurama said as he was in front of her,

"Just for the record you stupid fox, you should've at least drawn out your whip." Ranumi said turning her head, avoiding his gaze, and huffed. "At least I didn't have to worry about you getting killed on the tournament's first day."

Hayami smiled and sweat dropped at the sight of her sister as Kurama apologized to her. Still having an annoyed look on her face with a slight blush as Kurama wipes the tears from her cheeks. Ranumi gently placed her hand on top of his cut, using her healing powers to heal the wound.

Kurama smiles softly and touches her hand that was healing his wound. "Thank you, water lily. I appreciate the concern." He said, making Ranumi embarrassed and turn red as she looked away from his gaze with a blush on her cheeks.

"I swear if you nearly get killed in this tournament, I'll bring you back to life and kill you myself out of worry and anger for you being stupid." Ranumi said, feeling her tears fall on her cheeks.

Kurama wipes her tears and kisses the top of her head, causing her to look up at him. He chuckled and gently pulled her into a hug and rubbed her back in reassurance, which didn't help her embarrassed face.

On the Rokuyukai team, Hera stepped on the ring as she walked to the center with slight anger in her steps.

"Oh look, it's that girl who wanted to kill Hayami last night." Kuwabara said pointing at Hera.

"Wait, what?" Ranumi asked looking at her sister. "Did something happen last night?"

"Hmm...I guess she wants to play." Hayami said, before jumping into the ring. "Just to be fair, it's a girl's fight. Might as well show what a half-breed could do." She said walking towards the center.

'Be careful, Onna.' He thought as he watches his mate make her way toward the center of the ring.

"LOOKS LIKE WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A GIRL FIGHT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! FOR TEAM ROKUYUKAI, HERA! FOR TEAM URAMESHI, HAYAMI!" Koto said,

"Like I said last night, it would be an honor to kill you, Hayami." Hera said, "A half-breed like you shouldn't exist and to think everyone thought that you and your pathetic family were dead. I guess I'll just have to make that come true and earn a bit of fame if I must say." She said with much confidence,

"Keep talking crap all you want about killing me, but you should've never called my family pathetic." Hayami said with a hint of threat in her voice, "And you definitely do not want your life to be a sacrifice, especially by just a mere half-breed like me."

"LET THE MATCH BEGIN!" Koto announced as Hera started to produce flames from her arms and started shooting fireballs at Hayami which she skillfully blocked by using her sword.

"Hayami obviously can win this. Water always beats fire." Kuwabara said,

Hera growled as she charges at Hayami with her fist covered in fire as started throwing punches at her. Hayami used her powers and blocked each of Hera's attempts with her water rings as she puts out the fire on Hera's fist.

"Whoa, Hayami is just putting out her fire. She's not even trying on attacking her." Kuwabara said,

Hayami kicked Hera away from her, only to be covered in flames as she shoots out a powerful flamethrower at Hayami, causing her to be engulfed in flames.

"HAYAMI!" Ranumi cried out to her sister while everyone had their eyes widened in shock.

Hera laughed at Hayami who was grunting in pain and was kneeling on the ring, still engulfed in flames,

"And to think, a powerful fire like mine can kill you that easily. Well here comes a lot more." Hera smirked as she fired a bigger flamethrower at Hayami, creating a fire surrounding the half-human completely. "Such a shame. Lady Wakumi should've never given birth to a child like you. She's as worthless as her own pathetic and despicable as her own child of a human!" She cackled as she started to walk away.

"No, Hayami can't..." Botan said,

'Onna, you better get up or else!'

'Scared are you now, Hiei?'

'Don't play games with me, Hayami! You shouldn't have made me worry about you!'

'Never thought that you would be scared. It's okay, I'm alright.'

Suddenly, a gush of water was replaced by the fire as everyone stared at the sudden burst of energy that was coming from the ring.

"Guh! How much energy does she even have?!" Kuwabara asked in shock as he backed away a little right after feeling a powerful wave of energy.

"Apparently a tremendous amount of energy that once belonged to Lady Wakumi." Kurama said,

"What?! She should've died and had less power from my attack!" Hera said in shock at the sight of the water engulfing Hayami. "How could she have survived that? She's just half human!"

"Maybe, though I will admit that your fire was able to hurt me a little, but not enough to kill me." Hayami said demonically, her voice changed as the water disappeared from everyone's view only for it to turn into a water dragon as it roared throughout the stadium. "Depths of the Ocean Dragon!"

But what caught everyone's attention is Hayami's new appearance. Her hair grew longer and whiter in color, her outfit was changed, her skin had slight scales showing, and her eyes in a cold lavender color.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT LOOKS LIKE A NEW APPEARANCE HAS MADE ITS WAY TO THE RING! COULD THIS BE REALLY THE PRINCESS OF THE OCEAN RIGHT HERE BEFORE US?!" Koto said admiring Hayami's demon form. "And I have to say, what a beautiful display of beauty and power with a touch of malice! Guys are gonna start falling for this type of girl and the Princess got it all."

"Oh my, is that really Hayami?" Botan asked Ranumi as she stared in awe at the half-breed.

"I suppose this is her demon form." Kurama said staring in awe and shock at the sight.

"She looks gorgeous." Botan said, admiring the natural beauty of Hayami's true inner demon.

"She's using her most powerful attack." Ranumi said in shock at the sight of the dragon forming but was more shocked to see her sister's demon form for the first time.

"WAIT?! THAT'S HER MOST POWERFUL ATTACK?!" Kuwabara yelled in shock, pointing at the dragon,

Hiei was silent yet he couldn't help but be entranced by what seemed to be a goddess in front of him. His eyes widened in admiration as it feels like time had stopped for him to look and admire the beauty of his mate's demon form. And would dare kill anyone who would take her away from him.

"Insulting me is one thing, trashing my family is another. But never, and I mean never, dare call my mother worthless!" Hayami yelled as thunderclouds began to form out of her anger. "Because you're just playing with dangerous waters, and you're going to drown in it."

Everyone in the stadium was now terrified at the sight of the big water dragon in front of them as it roared with the thunder sounds around the stadium.

"EEEK! THAT'S A BIG DRAGON!" Kuwabara said hiding behind Ranumi, "I guess she wasn't joking when she said that she had a dragon within her."

"So that's her inner self's power. Or rather Lady Wakumi's former power." Kurama said, "Ryuji has trained Hayami well in having her full energy into her water dragon. As well as achieving her demon form."

"Maybe, as long as she doesn't get carried away in her emotions." Ranumi said, having everyone's attention on her. "With the amount of power she had from our mother, creating her water dragon nearly killed her, just for her to have better control in using her powers." She explained, "All that pain that she endured was torturing her body from the inside out and it nearly killed my own sister just to create and form the dragon out of her while releasing a tremendous amount of energy all at once."

"So, you're saying that there's a chance that Hayami is still not in full control of it." Hiei said, now getting worried for his mate. "Even if she's in her demon form."

"She had multiple attempts, but her dragon still couldn't be tamed. Once it's out, its only objective is to devour its opponent's life and return to its creator's body." Ranumi explained, "I just hope that her dragon will be one with her in time by using her demon form or by being herself as who she is."

Ryuji in the crowd was mentally praying that Hayami doesn't go overboard with the amount of energy she was giving out. Training her demon form was the last minute after telling her about and this fight was the first that it'll be used. He was hoping that she could at least gain some control.

'My ocean, please be careful.' He thought looking at his daughter worriedly, along with Keiko and Shizuru beside him.

"You should've never said anything about my dear mother that way little girl! From what you can see, this water dragon will devour your body, completely ending your life in an instant." Hayami said as her eyes glowed in a bright blue, creating her water ring, and raising it above herself, giving the dragon its full attention. "You shouldn't have underestimated the power that was bestowed upon me. The power that once belonged to my mother."

Hera was now in a state of fear as her body froze. Zeru yelled at her to run back but nothing worked. Koto was hiding at the edge of the ring as she watched the next attack.

"DEPTHS OF THE OCEAN DRAGON!" Hayami yelled as she threw her water ring towards Hera and the dragon followed suit, opening its jaws towards a feared Hera.

The water dragon completely devoured Hera's soul and life as her body was now limped on the ground all wet, not breathing, not showing any signs of life. The dragon went back to Hayami as it went inside her body, causing Hayami to fall to her knees, panting slightly. Her body returned to its original form, showing that her blue coat was gone, and some parts of her clothing were burned. She then stared at Hera's lifeless body.

Everyone was speechless at the sight as they stared at the ring. In the crowd, Ryuji, Shizuru, and Keiko were also speechless, knowing that her water dragon was still not completely in her control, she was able to make it follow her water ring bait.

'My ocean, we have a lot of work to do in order for your dragon to completely be tamed. Once it is tamed, you and your dragon will be one. Just like your mother when she had hers. However, my dear, it was a good attempt.' Ryuji thought as he stared at his daughter on the ring, smiling softly at the progress she's made.

Koto went to check Hera's body to hear any signs of life and found nothing. "WELL PEOPLE, IT LOOKS LIKE THE WATER DRAGON DID ITS JOB AND HERA IS NO MORE. WITH THAT, THE WINNER OF THE THIRD ROUND IS HAYAMI!" Koto announces as Hayami stood up straight and her eyes turned back to normal.

'I really need to get better control of my dragon.' Hayami thought to herself as she looked at Hiei with reassurance in her eyes.

Kuwabara passed out at the sight of the attack as Botan went to wake him up. Hiei, Kurama, and Ranumi were still in shock at the sight of the attack.

"This power that she has... really once belonged to Lady Wakumi." Hiei breathes out in surprise.

"It's a terrifying sight to behold, seeing how much power she was somewhat able to control in bringing her dragon out." Kurama said, "I suggest we should all stay on her good for now."

"Now you know why you should never let Hayami get angry." Ranumi said, "Not only will she use her dragon, but it could also create a thunderstorm in the process due to her emotions of being angry."

"Yes, for someone who's gifted with a great deal of power, she could surely strike fear in anyone in this stadium." He said,

Ranumi chuckled nervously, "Just like our mother." She said,

Hayami walked back to the team, having her bangs cover her eyes. There wasn't an explanation for what she was feeling. She was overwhelmed by the amount of power, yet she feared that her sudden burst of anger could be her downfall and that it would lead her again into a blinding rage that not only would kill her, but accidentally kill her loved ones. She jumped off the ring only to be tackled and surprised by her sister as she hugged her tightly.

"Ranumi?" She asked confused,

"I know you're scared of your own power, Hayami. I've seen this plenty of times to see that your dragon could express the anger and rage you felt during your attack." Ranumi said, "I don't want to lose my big sister, and please don't use that attack until absolutely necessary, please!"

"Don't worry. I won't use it anytime soon." Hayami said as she gently rubbed her sister's back. "I'm gonna have to do some more training for that matter."

Ranumi pulled away and smiled at her. "By the way, you looked amazing back there." She spoke

Hayami nodded a thank you as Hiei walked towards her and quickly embraced her in his arms.

"Don't you dare do anything reckless like that again or else, Hayami." He whispered under his breath to her as he tightened his hold. "Yet you've managed to surprise me. I can't stand seeing how reckless you can be, Onna."

"I'm sorry, Hiei. I didn't mean to." She said as she heard Kuwabara waking up.

Hiei kisses her on the lips, and she returned it before they pulled away.

'You are so getting punished by me after this.'

Hayami blushes slightly at what he said to her as she looked at him. Hiei was smirking as he looked at his mate.

"What?" Hayami asked, but Hiei lightly shook his head,

"Nothing. You looked beautiful in your demon form by the way." He said, making her stare at him in shock,

"It's true. You looked amazing." Ranumi said before giving a frown of annoyance. "Why didn't you tell me you had a demon form in the first place? I'm your damn sister for crying out loud, Hayami." She said in a stern voice,

Hayami only sweat dropped and smiled nervously at the sight of the face she was making. Kurama chuckled at this.

Kuwabara got up and looked at Hayami as he hid behind Botan. "GAH! DON'T KILL ME WITH YOUR DRAGON! I'LL DO ANYTHING YOU WANT ME TO JUST PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE DRAGON EAT ME!" He pleaded as everyone's sweat dropped at was he was saying,

Hiei rolled his eyes at his antics, while Kurama and Botan sweat dropped.

"Relax, I won't be making my dragon eat your life any time soon." Hayami said, "And stop hiding behind Botan or Ranumi you baka. No girl would ever want to be with a coward who hides behind them." She smirked, "It makes you less of a man."

"WHAT WAS THAT GIRLY?!" Kuwabara exclaimed,

"Now, now. Better not fight each other for the time being you two." Botan said waving her hand to calm Kuwabara down.

While Botan and Ranumi try to calm down a pissed-off Kuwabara along with Kurama, Hiei secretly held Hayami's hand, making her look at him confused.

'You should show your demon side more often, Onna. You looked very beautiful.'

'Thanks, but I made a condition that I'll only use that form when I need to use my strongest attacks, especially now in this tournament.'

'Hn, at least I would get to see it until the end of this tournament.'

Hayami smiled at him as he lifted her hand that he was holding and kissed the back of it, before secretly kissing her cheek. They all await the next fight of the fourth round, having two points in the lead and team Rokuyukai with one.
