The next day, Max awoke to find the cave partially covered in snow from the intense blizzard the previous night. He dug through the snow to find Rocky, Bullwinkle and Sam all frozen within the same block of ice.
"SAAAAM!" He exclaimed, placing his hands on the ice block.
Sure enough, his best friend and those newcomers were frozen completely solid! He knew exactly what he had to do...but the moose and squirrel probably wouldn't like it...
--
It was not long before Rocky awoke, covered from head to toe in some kind of clear slime.
"Bleh, what happened last night--HOKEY SMOKES! BULLWINKLE!" Rocky embraced his best friend, who also appeared to be covered in that strange substance as well. "You okay?!"
"Sure am pal...ew, what is this stuff?" The moose pondered, looking at the clear liquid coating his entire body.
"Well, I uh," Max spoke, clearing his throat. "It's funny, but in order to keep you guys warm, I sort of maybe had to--"
--
"—YOU SWALLOWED US WHOLE?!" Rocky hollered once Max told him, some birds in the distance flying away.
"Hey it was the only way you'd survive, pal!" Max retorted. "And keep it down—you'll start an avalanche, not to mention I've got a bad case of tinnitus…"
"Don't be worried, my rodent friend," Sam spoke while swinging Max around and using his to grasp a particularly large rock. "Much like the whale that ate Jonah, or the uterus of an expectant mother, Max's stomach is perfectly warmed and perfectly habitable for any living being, and can stretch to accommodate the width of anything."
"Plus I can delay my own stomach acid!" Max replied, a huge grin on his face.
"Oookay, that's real nice.." Rocky sarcastically replied, then shivered at whatever other gross bodily functions that rabbit might have.
"BHUUURAAAAOH THERE IT IS!" Max exclaimed, belching in a deeper tone than his speaking voice. "Hey Sam, we got any grub? I've been livin' on moose and squirrel hair and that is NOT filling!"
"Right here little pal!" Sam scratched his head, causing a ton of dog hair to fall into Max's mouth.
