Authors note:

Well hello there c: It has been quite some time since I released a chapter or well any story in general, I have to admit, while I don't have a problem with making ideas, putting them down on Google doc, and writing them, well that is a pain. Safe to say Im more of the "I have a fantastic idea but I am not sure how to put it in words so I am going to sit and stew in my misery at the fact my story will never come to light."

OR you know I could just bite the bullet and try.

Yeah, that works let's do that! So to explain the idea for this story? Well, it kinda came to me when I was reading a One Piece Fanfiction, if you have heard of "This Bites", or if you haven't, I highly recommend reading it, in my opinion, it is one of the best Fanfictions I have read in a long time.

This is now weird because this is a RWBY fanfic. Incidentally, I am pretty new to RWBY in general but oh well. Been inspired actually by a recent story called "Ghosts of Summer" and the Ben 10-RWBY crossover, which kinda ties into this but not in the way you think.

And no, this is in fact not a Jaune Arc story. It's an OC SI kinda thing. The plot twist here though is that our main character only knows of RWBY from fanfics, or the wiki, having never seen the story so he knows the gist of it just not everything.

Now, the question that begins this whole mess is; Need a light?

Disclaimer:

The certain Aliens in here are from Ben 10 and all of RWBY pretty much goes to Rooster Teeth therefore I hold no hand in that.

Well, let's DO THIS!

Beacon initiation could be counted among some of the most important events that happen on a year-to-year basis within the Kingdom of Vale. Thousands of Hunter hopefuls send in applications to Beacon around 6-12 months before Initiation, the majority are weeded out leaving a few hundred potential huntsman and huntresses to take the test.

Every year there is always a slight difference in the exact objective at hand, however, there is a common procedure that happens within every initiation, in fact, there are two significant procedures. One, every potential student is shot off into the Emerald forest from numerous platforms along the cliffside to the forest, a beautiful ever-green forest that houses numerous Grimm, although not very strong, their numbers must still be culled every now and then. The second is that eye contact forms the basis for every team that will begin at beacon shall they succeed in their task that is omitted to them upon entry.

However, before this incredible day commences, weeding out the weak from the strong, the intelligent and cunning from the mindless and cowardly, the Forest has to be groomed from the local Grimm, any stronger and dangerous ones are usually killed on sight, as most of them are unfit for Hunters in training to even begin to deal with. At times one or two are left as impossible obstacles, usually to test the students for their own survival instinct.

A dead Huntsman, can in fact not save anyone, and therefore, a retreat is almost always better than dying in some silly attempt of self-sacrifice, especially if said Huntsman or Huntress is not even capable of stalling to save anyone, a harsh and cold reality many young trainees will have to learn the hard way.

That is why as of this moment, Ozpin headmaster of Beacon, Glynda Goodwitch deputy headmistress, and Peter Port professor of Grimm studies were traversing around the inner perimeter of the forest, weeding out stronger Grimm and culling larger groups of Grimm to more manageable sizes for potential students.

What they would not expect, looking down from a small hill they were perched on, was the shooting star, or in this case, a falling star heading straight for the small patch of grass a few hundred meters in front of them.

Peter looked up at it and squinted his eyes before turning to Ozpin.

"Well, I believe you owe the doctor a few hundred Lien, it was in fact he who bet on outer world occurrence today," Peter said with mirth and his eyebrows hiking up as he watched the age-old wizard paling with horror. "Which also means you have to move part of your cocoa budget to his coffee." He said with a snort.

Ozpin, or Ozma, or Oz, or well the numerous other names he possessed could only clutch his heart in dramatized pain as Glynda gave him a seething glare.

"Am I to understand, Headmaster, that last year's academy budget, which was incidentally missing a scathing four percent was allocated to, your cocoa?" She said pushing her glasses up, causing them to glint, her hand tightening around her riding crop till her knuckles slowly whitened.

"N-now now, I-I would never do such a thing Miss Goodwitch!" Ozpin said his hands held up placatingly. Sweat beading onto his forehead, his glasses crooked on his nose. At that moment the air around them started to haze, and the heat began increasing. "Ahem! I do believe however that right now we have more, important matters to attend to, do you not believe so Glynda?" He said looking at the meteor-like object.

Glynda simply glared, a snort escaping from Peter as she slowly turned her head to the falling object. Their eyes all focused as the object descended faster and faster, sweat dripping from all pores as Glynda shot her hand up forming a small wall with her Semblance, the air cooling rapidly around them.

*FWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH*

Like an artillery shell, the asteroid slammed into the earth below them, blowing up dirt and causing nearby trees to shatter as the impact shockwave slammed into them, multiple trees catching on fire and the grass vaporizing instantly.

Thankfully, Glynda's barrier held most of the debris at bay and even kept the heat from spreading any further.

It is however at ground zero of this very impact we find our future hero.

The Void, infinite darkness, total eclipse, whatever way you define the nothingness that was around me there was really only one thing to ask.

What happened? I mean, I was sure I'd been doing something before, I "woke" up in this state, an infinite black and starless void around me, it was eerie, and didn't detract from the strange pit in my nonexistent stomach.

Wait what was I thinking about?

Oh yeah, what happened…trying to remember simply rewarded me with a migraine, a hot and uncomfortable one. Although, certain things did become clear.

I hadn't died. Or well to my knowledge, I wasn't dead. I was from earth, a human male just turned 22, and I had been watching the latest episode of One Piece, and then rewatched the Original Ben 10 show. I can't remember my own name, or my family, if I had one, or anything, well personal, but other details were much clearer, like the shows I had watched yesterday.

I'd fallen asleep peacefully and then, woke up to this.

And just like that, one of my senses returned with vengeance. My sense of motion.

And holy smoked macaroni was I getting some serious Roller coaster vibes. It was like my entire organ system was attempting to escape out of my mouth, the force of me well, falling was making me feel levels of uncomfortable I couldn't even put words onto.

Then there was another feeling.

HOT.

Wherever I was, it was hot, like metal melting hot, but I wasn't being hurt by it, well not yet at least. Was this some strange form of hallucination? I mean Im sure that whoever I was in my past I was sob-

*BOOOOOOM!*

AH, LIGHT! And it burns! Oh god, my eyes! Fuck! What the hell man?! What kind of silly ass flashbang prank was that! Like I mean seriously that was super uncalled for! No protagonist sees the light slowly reach towards them but rather, think fast chuckle nut, and then BOOM flashbang. You know what, next time I read someone seeing the light slowly reach out towards them I am so gonna sue for libel on it.

Oh, and it was hot.

Like now it was becoming unbearably hot. To make matters worse than they already were, I had also come to the conclusion that I was currently giving the planet a big old kiss. Frankly speaking, it was kinda nasty and sums up my entire day so far. Gingerly I planted my palms against the ground and raised my head. Blinking to clear the dirt over my eyes. There were still spots in my eyes and my hands shook as I pulled myself up

Scorched Earth. That would be a good summation of what I could see, everything within a 20-meter radius of myself was just burned. Trees turned into charcoal and the ground was just charred as well…did I mention it was hot? Like kinda painfully hot? Yeah, that was also biting me in the ass.

And just like that any calm I did have vanished.

"HOT! HOT! HOT! COME ON THIS IS SO NOT COOL WORLD!" I screamed running towards the edge of the flaming circle of hell I was on, my feet burning, but not as bad as I think they should have. I rotated my head around and saw the debris from whatever I had been inside of scattered about. My throat burned from the smoke. This was really bad.

After a few moments of running, I made it to the edge of the circle of fire and was met with green forest, and like a blessing, a small creek was up ahead, maybe a few hundred meters. I could almost cry in relief, but I wasn't safe yet, steeling my nerves I ran over to the creek of water, my feet in agony and the tatters of clothes that covered my upper body peeling away.

As I neared the creek I let out the largest sigh of relief and let my feet and lower body sink into it. The shockingly cold water ran down my legs and knowing that feeling, I sunk the rest of my body into the creek. Cool and clean water drifted over me, and I felt goosebumps form from the sudden change of temperature.

Perfect, cool water and a beautiful forest was a much better view than the scorched earth from the asteroid I was hitchhiking on.

Wait. What?!

I shot up with a squawk of shock and whipped my head toward the still-burning forest. And felt my eyes bug out. Hold on now! I was in the center of that and im pretty sure I would have known if I took a walk into the local park, not to mention this is a big ass fucking forest, not some dainty little city park.

Um, where am I? What happened? How did this happen? Why is Gamora?

Wait no forget the last one but Im trying to cope here!

As I stared at the burning crater of the forest a branch from one of the still-standing trees in the distance broke and I felt my ears twitch at the sound.

Huh? Do ears twitch?

No…

Human ears don't twitch… gulping audibly I reached up to my head of now spiky hair, again I did not have spiky hair before which made my eyes widen further, and felt the tuft of fur sticking up out of my head.

Holy.

Jesus.

I had ears. An extra set of ears. ON TOP OF MY HEAD. No, no, no this was just getting weirder and I can feel panic set in this is so weird, and I am unsure of what to do and oh my god where am I-

Better yet, who am I now?

My eyes whipped down towards my uncovered torso, I was fit, quite fit, lean muscles seemed to run down my arms and chest, and the outline of my abs was also visible. This was, well weird, but at least not unwelcome! It was just, well, I was on the dad bod side before, slim with some fat on and I did not have abs.

Oh and scars. A lot of scars. My front torso looked more like some 6-month-old cutting board than a human torso, faint lines were everywhere, some half a centimeter deep. Oh and a weird tattoo over my heart. It was a symbol of a flame in the shape of the Yin Yang symbol, except only the upper part was there, the Yang as it were was missing, and the Yin, which looked like flames was glowing like it was on fire.

The same scars seemed to be on my arms as well, and I'd wager there was a similar situation on my back, my legs were, covered far less but there was some scarring here and there. That being, I also felt, taller, not much taller but a few inches, I think I might have been standing at 5'11 maybe even 6 feet right now.

I looked over to the creek and walked over to a part where the water seemed to pool, there was movement but I could discern my own reflection, albeit barely.

My hair was, spiky, and I feel like making a joke about some angry pomeranian (WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK I AM?!), the thing that really drew me in, however, was the color. It was a striking Garnet Red. Well now I am almost sure of it, I don't think Im in my home world anymore. I mean animal ears and a weird ass color. Not really normal by human standards.

Looking down from my hair I looked back at the pale gold eyes of my reflection, it matched well with my hair, and the slight scar running over my left eyebrow was cool as well. My face looked, younger than I remember being, almost like time had been reversed.

Now if only I knew where I was-

*Grrrrrrr~*

I shot up straight and felt myself stiffen as my ears twitched at the low growl that came from behind me. I creaked my head around slowly and let my golden eyes lock onto the red that stared at me with vitriol anger.

I gulped as I took in the full form of the strange beast. It stood on its hind legs with a noticeable slouch, and long and thick arms covered in dark fur that seemed to bristle. Bone white claws dug into the ground and there were spikes on the shoulders acting like some spiky pauldron. The thing that really made my blood run cold, however, was the bone-white mask on its pitch-dark ugly face.

I'd read about it on a wiki for a show I'd never seen but just read the story where they are found and some fanfictions sprinkled in. It was a Grimm, the bottom of the barrel, but still the same monster that terrorized all intelligent life on the planet of remanent if I remembered correctly.

A Beowolf.

The mooks of the RWBY series, against even hunters in training, they weren't ever a danger, I remember reading about Ruby dealing with them easily at age fifteen. Prodigy or not that had meaning. They were created by Rooster Teeth to be easy to kill for newbies because they were just cannon fodder. And usually, that would have meant something even to me. But there was one big glaring issue.

I was an untrained, unarmed, aura-lacking nobody.

I gulped audibly.

"N-Nice d-doggy?" I stuttered as I took a step back, fear starting to set in. Wait…aren't they attracted to negative emotions?!

With a howl, it pounced much faster than physically should have been possible. I screamed as I jumped to the side, its claws knicking my shoulder, causing me to shout in pain and felt tears well in my eyes. I sprinted behind the tree nearest my position and saw the Beowolf pounce straight through the smaller tree cracking it in half without difficulty.

How was this fair?! I can't fight back at all! I felt my eyes widen as it pounced again, rolling to the side I panted in fatigue, I had no way to fight back.

If only I had some magical sword or a big ass gun or anything!

I tried retreating only to miss-step and fall over, the Beowolf, seeing me now on the ground let out another howl before leaping onto me.

"NOOOO!" I screamed in desperation, I felt time slow down around me, my bleeding shoulder throbbing in pain. If only I had some type of power or some form of weapon.

I closed my eyes and held my hands in desperation just wishing for some firepower.

Time resumed and there was a flash of light before jaws clamped around my hand and there was a screech of pain. Except, it wasn't mine. Not to mention, the lack of pain that should have been on my arm!

My eyes snapped open as the Beowolf let out another screech and backed away from me. There was a burn mark on the bone plating around its face.

I looked down at my hands. My now plasma-colored hands and currently, three fingers and one thumb. Looking down at my own body I felt whatever I had for eyes widen. I was covered in volcanic rock-like plates with lines of bright plasma splitting them. My feet were now two front toes and a back toe, and as I stepped back there was a scorched indent of where I stood. I was a bit taller as well standing at a daunting 6 foot 8.

Sweet mother mary. I was a Pyronite! Or had I turned into Heatblast? Did that mean I had the Omnitrix?

Looking down at my chest there was a very much missing Omnitrix symbol. I seemed to have a similar power to Alan Albright! Wait does that mean, I can turn into a Pyronite at will? That's pretty amazing.

Thinking a bit, Pyronites were some of the strongest Aliens in the Ben 10 Universe, their firepower wasn't totally explored as Ben really only used him as a ten-year-old. Not to mention, fire-based abilities against monsters of darkness… might just work out…

*GRRRR*

My eyes whipped up to the lone Beowolf that had attacked me and I let a smirk slip on my flaming head.

My deep and raspy voice sounded out as I took an amateur stance knees bending slightly and holding one fist out towards the Grimm Wolf.

"For that scare, Imma roast you like a barbeque," I said bringing my hand up to begin my counter-attack.

I probably should have thought further ahead and remembered I have no idea how to use my powers but oh well.

Ozpin had seen many strange occurrences in his many, many, many years of living and reincarnation. A meteor hitting the Emerald Forest, and a young man to pop out of the center of it screaming "HOT!" was up there, maybe even in his top five. On the inside, he felt himself gawk a little bit, as this was thoroughly unique in its occurrence, on the outside, however, his features were schooled into a calm look with a small smile on his face.

His entourage, however,

"Ozpin old friend did you see that?! A boy emerged from the flaming rock! Why I dare say that I once experienced something of a similar scale of amazement chasing after a young bird, but alas that was truly splendid!" Professor Port said with much amazement a hand stroking his chin as he looked toward the young man in the distance.

Miss Goodwitch on the other hand was a lot more reserved, her features schooled into a small frown, her hands crossed as she observed the young man running towards the creak.

"We should get him out of here unless he is as strong as a hunter if he encounters a Grimm he is liable to be killed, as well as that it is within our best interest to at least talk to the man about how he ended up inside an asteroid, and lastly it is our duty to clean the forest of the Grimm, if he is injured it will be our fault at this point." She said sternly already taking steps towards the creek where the young man was currently laying. Her lips twitched in amusement over his actions but quickly dipped down into a frown as she started to close the distance.

Her fellow teacher and the Headmaster were quick to step in line with her, Ozpin humming a tune as they closed the distance to the young man.

That is when the very thing she had worried about happened.

A lone Beowolf stalked up to the young man, his ears twitching before turning to the beast. She stopped for a moment to observe the next second with extreme focus, depending on his actions she would decide what to do next.

Ozpin didn't do much but narrow his eyes, there was strange energy radiating from the boy. Through his low amount of magic, there were certain things he could discern, one of them was seeing auras, this boy's aura was locked but it was highly active, and it seemed to burn like an engine wishing to use more fuel and burn ever hotter. Like a beast starved and wishing to break out.

Professor Port simply lifted his Blunderbuss, 'BlowHard' and took aim at the Beowolf.

The Beowolf attacked and the young man desperately tried running away. Glynda cursed under her breath and used her Semblance to lift a piece of debris to hurl it at the Beowolf. Port meanwhile began squeezing the trigger of his weapon. However, before either could do anything Ozpin spoke.

"Wait, do not take any action, I want to see something," Ozpin said with utmost seriousness, his eyes narrowed as he concentrated on the scuffle. Glynda whipped her head around at him and gave him a glare that could have glassed entire cities.

"Headmaster! This is NOT the time! If the boy is injured or for the sake of Oum killed I will use my Semblance to tear your spine out!" She hissed at him her hand shaking in fury. Port kept his weapon pointed at the Beowolf but let his trigger finger relax as he watched with bated breath.

The young man fell, and the Beowolf moved forward jaws open, Ozpin's hand shot out squeezing their shoulders.

In a flash of light, a miracle had happened, and with the howl of the Beowolf that had now retreated back, their eyes widened as they watched over the new volcanic being whose head was on fire.

Ozpin relaxed and let his hands drop. He gave a smile to both his colleagues before addressing them.

"See? Nothing to worry about, it seems as though the young man has an interesting power indeed," Ozpin said with a small chuckle his hands rapping on his cane.

Glynda gave him another scathing stare before relaxing and letting the rock drop. Port meanwhile snorted once before letting his weapon rest on his shoulder.

Although all was not entirely in the young man's favor.

Right, so, Good news, I was Pyronite which incidentally meant I was pretty much destined to be a pretty good Grimm Killer all things considered.

Bad news, I have no idea how to actually control my powers. And before anyone so much as says something about it being natural they can take their comment and eat it.

Cast fireball? Nothing. Flame On! Still nothing. JET BURN! No again.

"Oh come on just let me shoot a fireball at least!" I howled in irritation as quickly dodged to the left the Beowolf that attacked me earlier leaving claw marks on the ground.

"Would you stop that?! Im trying to use my powers give me some time here!" I yelled at the black beast, my voice coming out deep and raspy and my flaming head seemed to get hotter in pure frustration.

This wasn't working! I have to do something or else this thing might actually kill me! If only I could actually use my got damn powers! The Beowolf, fed up with my inner problems barrelled into me, screeching in pain but still trying to clamp its jaws around my head.

"ARGH! Get off me!" I yelled in minor amounts of pain and mounting frustration. As the beast kept snarling at me I tried concentrating, earlier, the mention of Fire had helped actually transform me, if I could use another word to at least begin throwing around some fire I might be able to do something to this angry mutt.

I scowled before laying my palms flat on its underside. I closed my eyes for a single moment and concentrated, I looked deeper into myself, feeling the hot core of whatever kept a Pyronite alive, and grasped it. Hoping that this would finally work.

"Incinerate." I said with a deathly calm. And not a moment too soon, two streams of fire shot out with that scream of flame Heatblast always creates whenever he used his power, flinging the Beowolf off me and scorching it. The Beowolf howled in pain dropping limply onto its front limbs and snarling at me.

I raised my hand again, successfully calling back the power I'd used, upping the intensity and sending two streams of fire hurtling toward the unmoving Beowolf.

The flames smashed into its face and with a final howl of agony, it was scorched to ash.

Jesus christ I must have fought that thing for ten or so minutes without any luck. I looked down at my hands before tightening them into fists. As I am now, I'd struggle with most Grimm and other enemies that show up. I'll have to train and perfect the powers of my Pyronite form.

"AWOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

My head whipped up watching as two more Beowolves hurtled toward me.

Tsk, anger, a negative emotion, therefore, a light to a moth, except the moth are beasts of death that hate everything that is alive with a passion.

"Let's see just how much firepower I have!" I shouted slamming my hands together and firing off a massive wave of fire. The Beowolf in front barely dodged, its right legs being turned to ash on impact, the second one, was a lot more unlucky, taking the full force of the blast to the face, killing it instantly.

I launched myself forward, slamming an amateur jab into the first one's face before concentrating on my fire and shooting a fireball at the Beowolf, the ball of fire exploding on impact sending the Beowolf into a tree and killing it.

That was when a few more newcomers made their presence. Three more Beowolves and one Ursa decided that now was an as good time as any. I concentrated my fire into a long stream incinerating one Beowolf before the Ursa's claw slammed into my side sending me sprawling into a tree.

"ACK! Ugh! Crud! I might not be flesh and bones anymore but those things still hurt!" I said grimacing noticing some of the volcanic rock chip away.

Bad news, seems like whatever transformation I have is suffering one of those "You just unlocked this power therefore it is unstable!" moments causing my quite tough exterior to be more brittle than I'd expect.

I leaned back as another Bewolf sailed over my face slamming a palm into its abdomen and scorching it.

The last Beowolf took that chance to run at me biting into my hand, causing me to shout in pain. To make matters even worse the Ursa decided to make itself known clamping its bone-plated face onto my shoulder causing me to howl in pain as the volcanic rock cracked, the beasts uncaring of the heat.

"You wanna bite me?! THEN BITE THIS!" I shouted letting my fire flare around me, heating up the area to unbearable levels and causing my surface temperature to spike rapidly. I also slammed my unoccupied hand into the face of the Ursa channeling as much fire as I could and sending it point blank. The Beowolf on my hand howled in agony before dying as the flame burst through the jaws and into its skull.

The Ursa meanwhile took the full powered force of a point-blank fire fist turning its body headless as its head turned into ash on impact.

I panted in exhaustion, I must have only fought for twenty or so minutes but with so much unrefined control I must have been wasting my power or maybe I just need to train it like a muscle.

In a flash of fire, my body once covered with volcanic rock and plasma turned back into its scar-filled fleshy torso from earlier making me grimace. However, I had to let out a small sigh and collapse onto my back.

I survived! I somehow through whatever willpower I possess killed some Grimm and survived! At this moment I could only let out a humor-filled chuckle as I lay on the ground panting.

Suck on that Grimm! Pyronite 1, Grimm 0! My ears twitched as I heard a polite clap behind me, my head tilting up as I watched a quite portly Man walk up to me, his thick mustache furrowing into a smile.

"Splendid young man! Absolutely splendid! I have never seen such powers before! What an incredible semblance! Oh it reminds me oh so much of when I was younger when I first slayed my very own Grimm!" the portly man said with a laugh reaching his hand down for me to grasp, and pulling me up in one swift go.

"Uh thanks, I didn't really know what I was doing though…" I said with a sheepish chuckle as I looked at the man in front of me. What was his name again? Port or something? He teaches…Grimm studies? Although I remember reading how they were overly dramatic.

My inner musings were cut short as a soft and pristine hand laid itself on my shoulder causing me to look at the neutral face of Glynda Goodwitch. She was, in simple words, immensely pretty and If I hadn't just almost died I think would have been a bit breathless over her beautiful eyes staring into mine.

"I must apologize for not having stepped in earlier, my name is Glynda Goodwitch, Deputy Headmistress of Beacon academy, I am glad you are mostly unscathed." She said her tone lightening as she checked over my shoulder. Her eyes narrowed before she sent a glare toward the third man.

I believe his name was Oz-

"Well hello there young man, my name is Ozpin, the headmaster of Beacon, and just who might you be?" Ozpin said with a chuckle, his hand reaching out and a curious glint was in his eye.

Crap baskets, what the hell do I say?! I don't remember whatever name I had before, also wasn't there some sort of color-naming rule around here? Think dammit! WAIT! I have it!

My hair color! It was a shade of red! And my eyes, were pale golden, so if I put those together…

"R-right, the name's Garnet, Garnet Aurum, I'd say it's nice to meet all of you but, Im a bit tired…" I said with a chuckle, grasping Ozpin's hand and shaking it before turning to Professor Port and doing the same, the man introducing himself as I did. Miss Goodwitch meanwhile had pulled out some bandage and was applying it to my shoulder wound.

"Hoh? Mister Aurum? Indeed you were in a bit of a situation, although luckily it seems as though your semblance must have activated, though your aura is still locked…hmm peculiar…" Ozpin said looking me up and down and scratching his chin. He waved his hand forward and started walking towards the cliff, the rest of our merry entourage following him, I took a step beside him and snorted.

"Yeah…think I got pretty lucky, and you're right, I haven't had my Aura unlocked either," I said, looking up at the sky and watching a pigeon fly by.

"Hmm, well why don't we head to my office and get acquainted then?" Ozpin said pointing his cane at the large tower that was on top of the cliff. I simply nodded and we walked in silence, I could hear a quiet conversation behind me between Professor Port and Miss Goodwitch, but chose to ignore it out of respect.

It took us about thirty or so minutes before we eventually came upon a small landing zone, Miss Goodwitch always on top of things had called for a Bullhead to bring us up to Beacon.

Riding a bullhead was, weird, a mix between some smaller aircraft I'd flown on and if I had to wager how it felt to fly on a helicopter. We sat in comfortable silence through the ride, Ozpin humming a small tune and Glynda checking over her scroll for matters most likely related to Beacon.

Well, let's see where this takes us then.

The bullhead quickly got us to the Beacon landing pads and our entourage moved quickly toward the central entrance of the building. As well as that, whilst we were on the bullhead, Port had thrown me a large white shirt for me to wear over my tattered, well whatever I had been wearing, my jeans somehow still in shape through everything. Beacon Academy was incredible, it was almost like a massive castle, with multiple towers surrounding one massive central tower, the CCT I believe. There were very few students actually milling about, it seemed as though most teams were gone. Judging by the temperature in the air and the state of the flora around the school I would harbor a guess that it's encroaching on the end of summer. I commented on the lack of students and Goodwitch told me that over the course of the Summer, the students were sent home or were encouraged to take lower-level missions with huntsman or huntresses to improve their skills. The students still milling about had either come early or had some last-minute schooling to finish.

I did notice a pair of bunny ears entering a hallway as we entered the central building.

As we continued towards the elevator to Ozpin's office Port departed for his classroom to check on in on his "pets" as he called them. I had to hide a grimace at how nonchalantly he was referring to the Grimm he had captured, but quickly had my thoughts changed when our silence was broken upon sitting down in Ozpin's office.

"Mister Aurum, there are many questions I wish for you to answer, but first and foremost the thought both Glynda and I have on our minds is this, how did you find yourself inside of an asteroid, and who are you?" He said his once soft smile leaving his face, and a neutral but piercing look bore into my eyes. I looked back at him, anxiety eating me up on the inside, naturally causing me to look out the window.

"I don't know. I don't know who I am, I don't know why am here, and I don't know what to do from now on, I guess you could say im lost, and how I found myself inside of an asteroid? The last thing I remember was watching a TV show on my scroll and falling asleep." I said tilting my gaze back at him, a white lie slipping in as I mentioned using a Scroll even though those did not exist within my reality.

Ozpin appraised me for a single moment before picking up a mug of steaming hot chocolate, where from I had no idea but he simply smiled as he took a sip before addressing me once more.

"And your semblance?" He said, raising an eyebrow and looking at my chest, exactly where my strange new mark was.

"That, I am also unsure of," I said without looking away this time, genuinely confused as to why I could turn into an Alien torch at will.

Ozpin simply hummed taking another sip. He looked up and waved his hand at Glynda, who quickly pulled out a scroll, on it, a Valean identification had been created. Glynda quickly asked me a few personal questions before sending a pointed glare at the headmaster.

"I am very much against this headmaster, and will warn you that this is a serious breach of law, Mister Aurum does not exist within any database, creating a new citizenship for him, as well as identification is a direct breach of Valean laws." She said pointing her riding crop at me as she addressed the elephant in the room.

My lack of existence in this world.

"I know, but then again, Garnet Aurum is a fitting name for a man with red hair and golden eyes, don't you think so Mister Aurum?" Ozpin said motioning towards me and smiling. I stiffened briefly before nodding and addressing them both.

"I-I think I have some form of amnesia, I can't remember anything personal, but a lot of basic information seems to still be up here," I said knocking my hand against my head which caused Ozpin to chuckle once more.

"I am inclined to agree, that is why I have a proposition for you," Ozpin said standing up, before walking over to the window and looking over the city of Vale. He looked at Glynda whose only response was another glare before looking away. "This proposition includes that you spend the next four weeks training, specifically under the watchful eyes of Professor Goodwitch to get you to a level in which you will participate in the beacon initiation, or you may decline and I will do my best to set you up with a small fund and send you off to do as you please." He said looking at me.

He walked over to me and stood in front of me awaiting my response.

It was an easy choice, right?

I mean, there really is not much else I could do, even if I got lucky and become some successful business owner or mob boss or whatever else there was in Vale, becoming a huntsman would give me the ability to do something that had been plaguing my thoughts ever since I stepped into this office.

I could save them. Give them a chance to fight back against the coming darkness, yes I was unaware of exactly what happens and when, but I know the bad guys, I know how they commence operations fuck everyone over.

I looked up at Ozpin before standing up and offering my hand. He looked down at it before smiling and shaking it.

Seems like I was going to become a hero after all.

WELL, there you go, that's my first chapter, leave some kind and critiquing reviews over what you've seen so far and tell me what you think was good, what was bad, and what was plain grammatical hell.

If people's response is well positive I'll see about continuing and digging deep with this story.

Cow out!
