Shikamaru walked in front of the store and saw the blonde girl. He walked in front of the counter, and she saw and approached him.
"Hi, how can we help you?" She smiles at him which makes him more nervous.
"Uhm~how does this work?" He pointed from left to right like he was asking for some clarity about the service.
"You mean the rent-a-girlfriend thing?" She lifts one eyebrow looking at him. Her teal eyes suddenly capture him, it's rare to see this kind of eyes in Konoha. He's thinking she might be from a different city.
"Yeah, this? How...can...I...rent...a...girlfriend" He awkwardly said
"Ohh-kay..Just signed this for me" She handed the form to him and offers a seat on her left where he can fill up comfortably.
"Is this your first time? You look young" She asked
"Yeah. Young? I'm already 21, I can even buy anything without any consent" he said as if he was offended to be called young.
"Still young" She responds
He just looked at her confused "How old are you then? What's not so young for you?"
"I'm 24"
"Not much older than me, you can still consider yourself young"
"I know"
He hands the form to her and pats his coat "So uhmm, who will be my or—who will accompany me tonight?"
"That'll be me mister" She smiles at him, not genuinely but more mockingly smile. She saw him stiff and confused after she said that.
"Or do you want anyone instead? You can stay for a while here and wait for the other girls to arrive if you want?" She offers
"Oh no it's okay, uhmm..so this is it? You-I borrow you tonight?"
"Yeah, you'll pay at the counter later once our time ends. The cost is per hour so I can accompany you wherever you like and how long you like"
"Okay where do you want to go?"
"Uhmm, let's see..Let's just walk around and find a cool spot"
"Okay"
Shikamaru did not know what to do so he offers his right arm -like what he saw with Choji and Karui earlier - but she looked at him confused. He's thinking that she might not be a physical touch type of girl. He knows a lot of women in his life, Ino and Sakura love physical touch and romantic gestures as he also observed with Karui.
"Oh sorry, right...I'm so stupid. Of course" She hooks her left arm over his right arm. "I'm sorry I'm really not that into the physical touch-ish thing but I can learn"
He looked at her "No it's okay, just be you and be comfortable. Wait, I haven't asked your name yet"
"Hm yeah, Temari, you?"
"Shikamaru"
"Nice to meet you"
"Nice meeting you too"
She observed his arm is shaking while holding it, he seems nervous. "Look, just relax. For the record, it's my first night also in Icha. I just got hired earlier"
"Really? It looks like you've been doing this for years"
"What do you mean by that?" She frowned at him
"Oh no..I mean, you did great on your first night actually. Unlike me, I'm clueless about this"
"When you're in need of money, it's enough motivation to do anything. I don't f*cking care about shame or such, I just need to survive"
"Tell me about it"
They stopped at a shop, Temari ordered some sweets and tea. Shikamaru did not order anything as he just had his dinner.
"You sure don't want anything?" She asked
He just looks at her and shrugged. During their walk earlier, he keeps on thinking of asking her to rent her for marriage but he's too afraid to ask. He's looking for a perfect time and enough courage to execute his plan. When she said she needed some money to survive, he thinks about the probability of her saying yes to his proposal.
"Temari, uhm I needed something"
"Sure, what is it?"
"Do you want to marry me?" He is not supposed to say that but his brain just mumbled and this sentence just pop up.
"WHAT!?" Temari looked at him confused while chewing Dango.
"Oh no I mean, I wanted to ask if it's okay to like rent or borrow you for a marriage?"
"What do you mean rent for a marriage? That's just the same! It's still marriage" She looked pissed now. "And how the hell you wanted to marry me? You didn't even know me nor I didn't know you?"
"Okay shush. Listen to me first woman!" He puts his fingers on his mouth to ask her to be quiet. "I have a problem, okay? And this marriage thing is the only solution"
She just looked at him suspiciously.
"I know this is a dumb suggestion and no! I am not a scammer if that crosses your mind"
She shakes her head "Do I really hear what you just offered? Or am I that tired?"
He leans closer to her while whispering "I am offering you to-please accept my proposal. I am looking for someone who can be my wife for like a year or so...I'll pay, I can pay, I have my fortune".
"What? hold on! Can you explain it to me? Clearly. Please don't stutter"
He released his biggest sigh and explains "Okay so, listen to me. In my parent's will, I can only claim the family's fortune and other assets if I did the condition written in their will, and surprise, surprise, it's me getting married!" His whispers become loud and he frustratedly mentioned the word married.
"Wow lucky you" She becomes more interested when he said family's fortune and assets. She did not know if it might be a lot or not but it's still money. She still owes the gang in Suna some and if she agrees with Shikamaru's proposal, her debt will lessen or luckily will be paid.
"So decide. Do you want it or not?"
"50 percent" she said
"What!?"
"50 percent of what you'll claim in your parent's will in exchange of me being your rent-a-wife"
"50 percent is too much! Are you crazy? 20 percent"
"20? I'll probably get that if I work in a week"
"You might be shocked at how much that 20 percent is in our family's wealth"
"35 percent?" She demands
"30 percent! Take it or leave it!" He narrows his eyes
She crosses her arms, grinned in success, and looked at him "Deal! So, when is the wedding?"
"Tomorrow"
