Part 6: Magical Connection

Bruce stood outside, staring at the sunset.

He heard a rush of what sounded like wind behind him. But it had a certain, familiar ring to it.

He smiled. "Hello, Zatanna."

Zatanna walked up next to Bruce, unable to hide the sorrow on her face as she stared at him.

"Bruce…" Zatanna whispered. "I just…"

Bruce looked at her. Still leaning one hand on his cane, he held an arm out.

Zatanna just hugged him as tightly as she could.

"I'm sorry…" Zatanna whispered as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"It's okay," Bruce replied.

They didn't speak again. They just held the embrace. Though romance never happened between them, there was something that always bound them together.

Something strong.

Something permanent.

Something magical.
