A/N

So as promised this will be the beginning of the rewrite of The Rabbit of Loki Familia. (Yes I renamed it, sue me. I found another story with the exact same name and also this will be different than what I had planned originally. Loki matters less) As with my other story I have quite a few changes that will happen here in the Prologue and for the story. I hope you all enjoy the story.

"Bell!" A pair of hands shook his shoulders roughly.

As Bell woke up slowly the smell of smoke assaulted his nose, realization causing him to shoot awake.

"Grandfather!? What's wrong?" Black clouds were all that was visible outside his window, illuminated by a pale and flickering orange light.

"There is a group of monsters attacking the village. Grab your swords and meet me outside. And hurry!"

Bell rushed around his room to grab his gear and strapped it on as fast as he could. Rushing back down the stairs he threw the door open to find a horde of goblins chasing his neighbors.

Unsheathing his sword he ran after them, slashing, stabbing, and hacking through them as fast as he could.

"Bell! Hel..."He turned around to find the last one grinning at the head impaled atop its spear.

In an instant he found himself atop a pile of ashes, glaring up and down the road looking for more monsters to kill when someone tapped him on the shoulder. He spun and raised his weapon, stopping only after he saw the saddened face of his grandfather.

"Easy, boy, easy. I know this is hard but you have to focus. Remember, you must not become worse than those you wish to stop. Now quickly follow me. The villagers are evacuating the village, they will need your help."

They both ran through the village, stopping only to help another villager or to kill monsters until they reached the edge of town

"Grandpa, there are only six wagons here. This is only a fourth of the village. Where is everyone else? Surely more people made it out!"

"Bell. I need you to keep these people safe. I am going to go look for other survivors and will join you at the next village. If I do not make it and join up with you by the time you reach the next village, then I want you to take these letters. Open the one addressed to you and it will have instructions for what to do next."

"I won't have to open this. I will be giving this back to you tomorrow."

"Bell, promise me."

But Grandpa…"

"No buts. Be strong Bell." His shoulders shook as he took a breath and looked towards the heavens. "Enough time dawdling, these people have lost much tomorrow and need someone strong to guide them,, go and make me proud."

Bell threw his arms around his grandpa. "I will. And I love you."

"I love you too."

Bell watched as his grandfather ran back off into the blackness of night towards the orange glow of the village remains.

"Bell, what do we do? Everything we have is gone…"

Bell wiped away his tears before turning back towards the villager. "Cheer up, we still have our lives and each other. We will head to Isilon and wait to see if anyone comes, after that you all must decide what to do on your own."

Bell looked up towards the rising sun, the night had been long and hard. monsters attacking frequently but also in blessedly small numbers. Finally, as the sun began to rise the villagers calmed slightly and the town grew larger with their advancing towards it.

AS the finally approached the gate Bell jumped out of the wagon and walked up to the guard. Looking past the guard and the town wall laid Isilon. The buildings and town spoke of the wealth they made from being a major trade station in this part of the country.

"Halt. I… What the hell happened to you all."

"We come from the village of Aleya. We were attacked and overrun by monsters last night and have been traveling since. Would you please give us some shelter and help us?"

"Well, that explains the glow we saw on the horizon last night. Had many of the townsfolk here pretty spooked. We will be ready if they come. However, I have to ask you all to wait here while we set up a place for you folks to stay. The mayor will be down here shortly. Please excuse me for a moment."

Bell watched as the runner ran off towards the town center before turning and informing the villagers.

"Greggor, I will leave you in charge here. Once I clean my gear and am ready I will be setting off on a journey."

"What, you're just going to leave us all here?"

"Don't worry the townsfolk have promised to help you all. Just begin farming here and try to rebuild. They will protect you here better than I will on my own anyway."

"Just how thick is that skull of yours. I mean everyone here has already lost so much. Many will be saddened further if you leave."

Bell paused for a moment to think. "Worry not one day I will return. But I have to do this. I promised my grandpa I would."

'I see. Then on behalf of all of us, Bell I wish you luck and fortune on your journey. Take this," he grabbed a pouch from his bag and it jingled as he tossed it to Bell. "And make sure you stay safe."

"I will, and thank you for this. Until I return."

"Knock knock knock."

Bell winced as his hand wrapped against the door, the sound ringing out into the silence.

Bell found himself surprised and on edge as the man who opened the door stepped into view. Clothed in black and with scars covering his face and his presence slightly suffocating.

"You know kid, it's considered rude to stare. Didn't your parents teach you that? Now state your business. Did someone send you here or did you come here for some story or something?"

"I-I-I…" Bell coughed and cleared his throat in an attempt to regain his nerves. "I was sent here by my grandfather. He said to give this to you and you would know what to do." Bell pulled the note from his back pocket and handed it over.

Bell watched as he read it silently, his eyebrows raising slightly as he finished.

"Well them boy, come in. It seems the old man still has some plans set in motion."

Bell followed him through the small house until they arrived at a small living space. Three people already occupied the room. A man dressed like a prince of old or a noble. A long blue coat with golden buttons covered what seemed to be a white dress shirt. His shoes are as reflective as a mirror. Next to him sat an Elf in white robes. Across from them sat a woman with white hair like Bell's.

"Dionysus. It seems we will answer your question with one of our own here in a year. Please, wait until then to begin."

The man turned towards Bell and looked him up and down. "I see, so he still has a few plans and you wish to carry them out? Very well, we will wait until you are ready if you promise your support."

"Alfia, it seems we have one last mission to complete."

And so there you all have it, the prologue to the rest of the story. I feel much better about this version of the story and am personally excited to continue on with it. I hope to see you guys leave some comments and criticism for me to work with, otherwise, I will assume I am doing something right. At least I hope. Until the next chapter folks.
