Chapter 22

I was over this day. The class was especially boring today. We had to learn about permits and right blah blah. I made my way into the common room. Seeing the other students standing there. I turned the corner seeing Endeavor standing there. He was out of his hero uniform and he had put the flames away. A boy was next to him. What was his name? Shouto I think. We had never really spoken.

"That's his son," Deku whispered to me.

"Really? Shouto doesn't seem to like him all that much."

"Yeah. Their relationship is a bit strange."

"You are finally here." Endeavor said walking over to me. "You said you would pass any test I gave you."

"Yeah, what about it?

Are you ready?"

I dropped my bag to the ground."I'm ready."

I was in the giant dome arena. I had to put on this blue and white training suit. So did Shouto and he was standing across from me. Apparently one of Endeavor's challenges was to beat his son in a fight.

"MAKE SURE YOU BEAT HIM!" Bakugo screamed from the sidelines.

I winked at him and he turned red like he usually did and it made me smile.

"This is test one. You must beat my son," he said and walked off to the side.

I looked over at him. I wasn't going to use any of the quirks I had that could actually do some damage. I didn't want to hurt him, and using Aizawa-sensei's quirk would be too easy. I wanted to beat him and put on a show. I was looking at him and from what I had learned in class, he didn't have any openings. He was completely on guard and I had no idea how he fought. He didn't attack straight on as Bakugo did. I took one step… and that was my first mistake. I hadn't blinked but I didn't even see it. The giant spike wall of ice shook the ground as it zipped passed me. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Not out of fear but out of excitement. This feeling inside me let me know that I didn't have to hold back. It was feral almost. This hunger that I had to feed.

I pressed my foot to the ground. I stepped off using All For One to add some power to my leg, remembering to use Eri's quirk as well. I had moved too fast for him to see. He was shocked to me so close to him so quickly. I quickly grabbed his uniform swinging up into the air. He shot fire out of his palm, heading straight for me. I chucked myself into the air, kicking out my feet, and kicking him in the chest the second he had gotten too close. He crashed into the wall but recovered quickly. Sending a wave of jagged ice toward me. I put up a wall of blue flames, sending it across the entire arena. I backed away, and seconds later he shot through the wall in a spiral of his own flames. I smiled tapping the boulder behind me. He had fallen for it again.

He had gotten too close. I sent the boulder flying toward him. He countered it easily. Formed a fist of ice and broke it into pieces. I craved it, I wanted more of this familiar feeling. Where had I felt it before? This raw rush of power surged through my veins. I wanted to win, no; I needed to win, but fighting him was enough. I know I could beat him… I wanted more. I ran towards him, letting the explosions fly out of the palm of my hands, knocking him back. I went over to him, looking down at him. I hadn't noticed how beat up he was. Still, I wanted more.

Do it.

My hand twitched.

"YEA YAMI!"

They screamed, pulling me out of my trance. I looked at my hand.

What was that? Whose voice was that just now? Did I make it up?

I looked over at them and Endeavor was walking towards me. He helped his son up.

"That is enough. So, did I pass your first test?"

"There is another. Get yourself cleaned up Shoto. You follow me."

I clenched my teeth but still followed after him. I was going to make him acknowledge me.

Endeavor and I had left UA. He had me wait in the car while he changed into his hero suit. We had been driving for some time. We'd crossed a bridge out of the city and we were approaching this place that looked like a fortress. It looked like everything was made out of solid black iron.

"Where is this place? I asked.

"Tartarus," he replied.

We drove into it passing a ton of guards. Getting out of the car they searched up and I followed him to an elevator. He scanned a pass, letting us get onto the elevator and, we rode it all the way down to the bottom. We got off and it was an empty hallway. Lined with glass windows looking into rooms and iron doors beside them. I followed him to the end of the hallway, wrapping my arms around myself. This place gave me the creeps. He stopped at the last window looking straight forward. I turned my head seeing a person strapped to a chair. At least I think it was a person. It wore restraints, but the body was made of this black fog, with glowing yellow eyes.

"Aizawa-sensei doesn't know I'm here with you does he?"

"This is Kurogiri." He said, ignoring my question. "Formally known as Oboro Shirakumo. He was once one of the closest friends that Aizawa had. One day, there was an accident. Everyone believed him to be dead. His body was stolen and transformed into this. Now, he works for Shirgaraki and your father."

I balled up my fists. "I want to go home Endeavor."

Again he ignored what I had said. "I've bought you here because I have heard among the students that you can read minds. I need you to look in his head and see if you can find anything useful to us."

I shook my head. "I can't do it. It is the one quirk that I have trouble with. Once I turned it on it was too difficult to turn it off. Too many voices in my head at once."

He sighed. "Then can you copy his quirk? It would be useful to have something like that."

I just stared at him.

"What? You can't do it?"

"I can do it," I whispered.

Anything to get him to take me back home.

Endeavor knocked on the glass, and the vault-like door started to unlock. He gestured toward the door. I went over to it, pulling it open. I stepped inside the room, and then he finally looked at me.

"So, you are the daughter."

"Do not call me that."

"I apologize young miss. I did not mean to offend you."

I relaxed just a bit I wasn't expecting him to be a gentleman… kind of. He couldn't be if he was in here. I took a step toward him about to touch him and that was when he spoke.

"To think I did not need to go to great lengths to find you myself. Dabi did his job and now that fool Endeavor has brought you straight to me. Before I could react, his arms were already around me and I was being swallowed into this dark hole. The last thing I saw was Endeavor rushing towards me.
