It was a world of contrasts, "Eliena", a little ball of rock and mud hanging around a blue giant star, The Poor of the world resided in sprawling underground city-hives while the rich lived In luxury in spires that pierced the lower atmosphere, most of the fifteen billion stuffed into the world's three massive cities living on barely anything while massive factories stretched for miles, churning out the goods supplied those on better off worlds in the First glorious sol empire, a home for mercenaries desperate enough to do almost anything for enough Credits, and those who employed their violent services.

it was a world of violence and corruption, a place were those unwilling to let go of their moral scruples often found themselves on a firing line and those who were willing to do anything survived, the epitomy of a dog eat dog world.

somewhere within one of the labyrinthine cities of this world an ancient Device faded into existence with a Groaning, wheezing Sound, tossing up the miscellaneous trash on the floor in a gust of wind as it materialised, A Blue Box, vaguely similar to the old phone boxes of Terra.

one of the doors creaked open, only a few inches at first, but then fully, and out stepped a woman, clad in slightly too large and tattered black frock coat and an oversized waistcoat that hung loosely on her slim frame, she took a deep breath and looked out of a massive shattered window Infront of her, a massive city, that stretched for what must be dozens of miles, thousands of towers of rusting metal and grey concrete glowing with the windows of their occupants, pillars of lights standing defiantly against the smoke filled blackish-purple of the night sky.

after what must have been a decent few minutes simply taking in the absurd size and scale of the city she turned her head and tried to figure out where the heck she actually was,

a building, almost certainly, that must of stretched for miles into the sky, the air was thin, it was like being on a mountain... it was dark, but she could make out doors and broken screens on the wall, she correctly assumed that she was in an observation room of some sort that looked out over the city, but the building must have been vacant for years, judging from the dilapidated nature of the place and thick layer of dust that coated everything, she stumbled her way in the dark towards one of the barely visible monitors that sat on the wall and fished her sonic screwdriver out of her pocket, pointing the device at the screen, as the device buzzed the broken screen flared into static for a few brief moments before dying in a shower of sparks, The Doctor Groaned

"Much good that did... Let's try something else, eh?"

she made her way over to what she thought was a door, and ran her hand across the bare metal of the wall attempting to find...

"There we go... control panel, now if I can just open 'er up..."

she crouched down and pointed her screwdriver at the screws holding the keypad in place, buzzing each of the four out in sequence and then taking it off the wall, the tangle of wires was simple enough to understand, she slid her hand into the circuitry and felt around

"And... let's see if I can find a... manual rel- Aha!"

she flipped a little switch nestled in-between two wires and the door slid open slowly, under whatever small amount of reserve power remained, she jerked her hand out of the wall and slid her hand into her pocket along with her screwdriver.

she made her way blindly through a few of dark corridors before, finding what appeared to be an abandoned reception lounge, illuminated by four red emergency lights built into the roof, at least she could actually see now, there was a desk with a much more intact looking computer terminal facing towards a set of lifts and some benches and chairs scattered around, along with what she thought was one of the most bland paintings she'd ever seen in her life hung up on the wall, an obviously machine painted oil portrait showing a rather stern and emotionless man with what appeared to be a rather obvious cybernetic eye and prosthetic Jaw, that narrowed down a few things for her, she was somewhere in Human space almost certainly, and at a point in history before bulky and obtrusive cybernetics were first phased out for organic grown replacements, that would put her anywhere from the late 2600s to the early 4500s which would put her somewhere in the Era of the first grand Sol confederacy, still not as accurate as she would like but much more information than she had before... if it was correct, she slammed down into the office chair behind the reception desk and idly tapped the keys of the computer terminal, The screen flashed on

she leaned back in her chair as line upon line of machine code ran past, the machine had clearly not been touched for a while, she whistled the tune of a Venusian lullaby to herself as she leaned back in the dusty office chair, kicking in a circle, so... she could whistle at least, that was better than some of her other bodies she supposed, the terminal chimed and grabbed her attention again

She once again fished the metal tube out of her pocket and pointed it towards the terminal, within a few moments the sonic screwdriver had input billions of possible username and password until finding the correct combination of letters and numbers

the machine snapped to a desktop interface and the Doctor leaned forward in the chair,

after a few minutes of looking around she had learned everything she wanted to know, it was 2788 C.E, the Empire of Earth and Mars were slowly expanding their territories, still using ballistics and tanks to fight their wars as they had been for almost a millennium up to this point, Androids were still rather primitive, only having gained sentience and the accompanying rights within the last two hundred or so years, Mankind was making its first small tentative steps to becoming a galactic superpower, even as its own people suffered from resource and food shortages.

it wasn't an era she liked to visit often, mankind had yet to make it's great achievements of the the much later Great and Bountiful Human Empires, it was still violent and Xenophobic, growing increasingly oppressive by the year, while a time of great innovation also a time of conflict and strife.

but still... couldn't really hurt to explore just a little, could it? worst came to worse and she had to make a quick escape she knew were the TARDIS was...

after a quick few keystrokes she'd set the tower's back up generators to provide power to the lifts.

she made her way over and pressed the button to summon the elevator, and she waited, and she pressed the button again, and waited a little more...

"Oh for Rassilon's sake, COME O-"

just as she was about to start her groaning the Lift made a 'DING' and she giggled, she supposed she'd have to learn patience all over again... she stepped in and for the first time saw herself clearly in an only slightly grimy mirror on the lift wall

she stared at her reflection, feeling the slight sense of unreality every time lord got when they saw their new form after a regeneration, a sort of pit in the stomach and a slight panic threatening to rise, but she'd done this enough times that she could push it down easily enough, she calmly breathed in and regarded her newest incarnation.

She wasn't particularly tall, but nor was she short, she was if she had to guess, somewhere in the range of 5ft 8", she was thin, not waspy or what she would describe as particularly slender but she certainly wasn't fat, her chest was well... it was average, and she really didn't give it anymore thought, instead her face was captured her attention, it was attractive by most standards, a pale white skin with a sprinkling of the odd patch of freckles sprinkled here or there over a round and well defined face that was still soft in the places it counted, her hair was a dark chestnut, almost bordering on a brownish black, her hair was a little roughed up, sort of the kind of hair you get after you'd been asleep for way too long, she moved her gaze to her lips, a little on the thin side but the particular shade of pink was pleasant, not that she'd ever consider wearing lipstick anyway, that was more River's thing...

"mind you... I think the nose is a definite improvement"

she chuckled to herself a little, remembering the tall one with the curly hair and the toothy grin and the scarf, And even on her new face the nose was most certainly an improvement to the previous one, smaller and, if she was being honest... a little cute.

she flicked her eyes up, and the eyes, there was something about them that was familiar, she'd had these eyes before, a little more blueish back then perhaps but she'd definitely had them before, two large, sharp blue-grey eyes that seemed to always be staring daggers, after pondering a few moments she remembered, her seventh body... the Short Scottish one with the question mark fetish and the umbrella, Times champion...

she brushed the thoughts away, nostalgia could wait until she had actually had time to break in her new form...

still at least the angry eyebrows were gone!

the lift once again dinged and the doors split open to reveal the ground floor entrance lobby, illuminated only by the light that managed to bleed in from the outside world through shattered windows and doors, she made her way through the lounge, passing overturned benches and burn-marks as she went she crouched down near one of scorches on the carpeted floor, and ran her fingers through it, she sniffed them,

"let's see... light traces of ethanol... carbon dioxide..."

she noticed the scattered shards of glass and bits of burnt cloth nearby, it was a Molotov cocktail, presumably the result of the same violence that had left the place a mess,

"y'know what... I'll look into it later... for now, Onward!"

She announced loudly to no one in particular as she pointed towards the doors and made her way up to it, she carefully ducked through one of the shattered windows, careful not cut her new head and into the winding grey, abandoned Desolate streets of the Undercity.
