A Sewing Lesson
Summary: What if Amber hadn't rejected Sofia's offer to teach her how to sew in "Princess Butterfly"? Would things be the same? Probably not. Sisterly Amber/Sofia.
Sewing.
Princess Amber of Enchanica couldn't do it.
To her it wasn't fair that the three fairies of Royal Prep had adjusted the rules of the All Hallows Eve ball by having the students sew their own costumes instead of getting the royal seamstress to do it for them.
It was bad enough that the little blonde princess could barely dress herself, but it was even worse knowing that she couldn't sew a single thread by herself without mixing up the end of the sewing needle.
She fiddled with the sewing needle once more before sighing in frustration. She heard the door open and saw her step sister Sofia, forcing her to hide in the white fabric.
"Amber? Is everything okay?" Sofia asked, noticing her sister's state.
Amber laughed nervously "Why wouldn't it be?"
"Um, because if you need help sewing your costume, I show you," Sofia took the sewing needle off the floor where her sister had left it, placing the thread in the right place
"So the thread goes in that end," Amber said before accidently sitting on s ball of sewing needles. She proceed to stand, taking off the ball of sewing needles from her gown. "Okay, I admit it. I do need help. I never sewed anything in my life! Not one single stitch!"
"Amber, it's okay," Sofia said with a smile. "I'll teach you."
That made Amber feel a little better but now she was embarrassed to have her sister –of all people in the kingdom- to teach her how to sew.
Still, she needed the help and learning to sew couldn't be that bad.
Right?
…
"Okay, before we begin, I need to know your costume." Sofia began as Amber gasped. "Don't worry, it will just be between us."
"A-A butterfly," Amber sighed in relief as the feeling of Sofia telling others about her costume before the ball had vanished.
Sofia smiled. " Good choice!" She held up a piece of fabric, thread, and a sewing needle for the little blonde princess to see. "Now you gently place your thread inside the sewing needle before putting it in the fabric."
Amber tried to repeat her sister's instructions, only for the sewing needle to miss the fabric and instead prick her finger.
"Sofia! Get Baileywick! Get Daddy! Get somebody! I'm bleeding!" She shrieked, causing the little brunette princess to drop what she was working with.
"Relax, Amber, you only have a small prick," Sofia said calmly, her patience with her sister still clear as can be.
"You mean I'm not going to bleed to death and have people in the future wonder what happened to the beautiful blonde in the green gown?"
Sofia sighed, her sister was being a little overdramatic when it came to one sewing lesson. Witt a small smile, the little brunette princess nodded as she and Amber continued the lesson.
Despite numerous times she wanted to throw her sewing needle to the ground and even wanted sewing banned, Amber didn't quit and soon her butterfly costume was perfect with the finest jewels and fabrics to match.
And thanks to Sofia's help at the Hallows Eve ball, she earned a special medal from the three fairies for giving sewing a try while everyone had gathered around the little blonde princess, commenting on her costume.
To Amber, sewing wasn't a bad thing though it was nothing she would never do again unless she wore gloves as getting pricked by sewing needles was painful and wearing bandages afterwards was horrible because they didn't match to any of her outfits.
