Tumnus was walking home with his presents in his arms until suddenly 'BOOM', he ran into a weird thing. He had never seen anything like it before. It was as small as a dwarf, yet it wasn't a dwarf because dwarfs weren't this pretty. He ducked behind the nearest tree for fear of the little thing that by now had also hidden behind the lamppost. Was it afraid of him? Was it because of his legs? Had the thing never seen a faun before then? Was he so terrifying then? Oh no it's coming closer and closer. What should he do? Should he run away, should he stay put or should he go and ask it what it is? He chooses to be brave and anxiously takes a small step forward. It looks him straight in the eyes and what beautiful deep blue eyes it has. They are the friendliest eyes the faun has ever seen. It smiles kindly and picks up one of the fallen presents to give it to Tumnus. From its goofy look, he can tell it has never seen a faun before. "Hello, I'm Lucy." Lucy is definitely not a name for a dwarf, "far too beautiful", he thinks. "Lucy, Lucy", echoes in his head and he finds it the most beautiful name he has ever heard. Her sweet voice already makes him less anxious and he answers her with: "Hey, my name is Tumnus." She smiles kindly and asks him what he is. After replying that he is a Faun and explaining this, he finds out that she is human, a daughter of Eve… It can't be, Tumnus thinks. The prophecy foretold that one day people would come and bring back the warmth and end the eternal winter here. And here, right in front of him stands one, a human being. He invites her to his home with in the back of his mind the words of the white witch: "If daughters of Eve and sons of Adam come, deliver them to me or the consequences will be dire."
The fire is lit and it soon starts to get a little warmer inside. Tea is ready and Lucy and Tumnus are sitting in the sofa. He asks her to play her a song about Narnia and the poor girl who does not knows of what awaits her, leans back to listen. Instead of informing her, Tumnus starts playing his flute, causing Lucy to fall asleep. The tea pops on the floor and Lucy is unable to wake up. Tumnus hesitates whether he would do it, but eventually informs the Witch. Not much later, the door is slammed and a mist is blown around. Tumnus begins to feel sleepy and cannot keep himself awake. He falls to the ground and, still in a daze, sees Lucy being carried away by a dwarf, the witch's style="mso-spacerun: yes;" /span"Lucy, Lucy, where are you? Oh no what have I done?!" echoes Tumnus' house. He must rectify this, the dear child was so gullible and kind. How could he do this to her? How could he let his fear prevail like this? Sitting in his seat with ice on his head for the headache, he reflects. He knows he should go to the palace to find Lucy, but he will never succeed alone. He peeks outside and heads for the beavers' house. He is good friends with Mr Beaver and knows he will have a good plan. Arriving at the beavers, he notices two other people called Susan and Peter. They are apparently Lucy's sister and brother and are looking for their little brother who is also gone. The four of them leave for the palace; the beaver, Susan, Peter and Tumnus.
After an hour and a half of walking, they arrive at the witch's scary, cold palace. Peter takes the lead and walks in front, followed by Tumnus, Susan and the beaver. The giant gate is open and inside they notice many stone statues of creatures they remember well, but who once went against the ice queen and had to deal with the witch. the beaver runs into one of the statues and soon there is loud growling from behind them. Four terrifying wolves walk behind them with their bloody mouths and murderous eyes. The foursome start running for their lives and reach the next room. They just manage to close the door before the wolves bang into it. The door won't hold for long so they need to get out of here quickly and not encounter any other scary company in the meantime. There are six doors that are all very similar. Susan runs to the second door and a staircase appears. At the bottom of the stairs they hear murmurs so they keep quiet and the beaver leads the way to see what awaits them. After a long silent minute, he comes back and says he sees Lucy, but they have to open the dungeon with a key that is probably upstairs somewhere. they decide that Peter, Susan and the beaver will search while Tumnus stays downstairs to protect Lucy from further danger.
Suddenly, loud footsteps come from all sides and Tumnus can no longer hide. He is face to face with the white witch and behind her runs a human called Edmund. Edmund? But, that's Lucy's brother? How can this be? Tumnus stands against the closed door and orders the Witch to release the girl. With an icy stare, she looks at Tumnus and orders her to lock up as much Edmund as Tumnus. She demands to comb the entire palace for the other two people, but in turning around, she is hit by a hard knock on the back of her head. Tumnus quickly managed to knock another stone he had taken from one of the statues onto the ice queen's head. Meanwhile, they hear Susan and Peter coming down calling. After a short battle with the guards, they free everyone and quickly walk up the stairs again. The Witch is still unconscious on the ground. They hear the howling of the wolves again and now instead of running, they take all stones they can find and throw them to the wolves. They hit them and the wolves walk manning away.
Once they're outside, Lucy gives Tumnus a big hug after he apologizes and the company decides to go to the beavers house again to celebrate that both siblings are back. They drink tea and eat delicious cookies made by the beavers wife. The sisters and brothers decide to stay a little bit longer to help those persons to make Narnia beautiful again and Tumnus and Lucy, they decide to let the past be the past and they become best friends. The company decides to end the night with dancing around a campfire and have a long and beautiful evening. They go sleeping happy and dream of a long and happily ever after… but not for long…
