Calvin looked down at the woman in concern, having waited quite some time for her to wake up. He really should be getting back to Florence, but he couldn't just leave her here like this. He knew a few ingredients for medicine, they were something Florence used for her potions. Maybe he could make them work somehow.

He set her down carefully on a bed of sponges, darting away to find ingredients. Luckily they were relatively common, Calvin returning with a type of sea grass and some guck from inside a particular shell.

"Come on lady, open your mouth." He said, feeling guilty when he pried it open for her, stuffing the grass and guck in.

She woke up quickly at the taste, spitting it out in disgust before holding her head in pain and groaning. She felt the wrap he'd put onto her head and looked up to him, sighing in relief. "You stuck around."

"Of course I did." Calvin said incredulously. "I can't just leave you alone when you hurt your head like that. Besides you punched a goddamn shark to help me."

"I did, didn't I?" She grinned happily, feeling rather proud of herself. "Whooped me good, though." She tried to sit up, but felt dizzy so she moaned and laid back down.

Calvin watched her for a moment as she seemed thoughtful, before finally saying, "who are you?"

She looked up to him sadly, sighing as she reached up to touch his chest gently. "You really don't remember me?"

Calvin frowned, shaking his head. Then again he didn't remember much of anything. Wait…

Panic struck him as he realized he didn't know who he was, either. He knew his name because it was what Florence had called him. But who was he? Where was he from? He felt like he should be doing something, but he couldn't remember what it was.

"What's wrong?" Cora moved closer to him when he looked around in panic as if searching for something.

"I… don't remember anything." He said, gripping a hand in his blond hair with wide eyes.

"Oh shit." Cora muttered in worry. "She put a spell on you, Calvin. A spell to forget who you are. She wants you as her king, and you didn't want to. So she took you by force."

Calvin moved away from Cora in shock at the words. "N-no, Florence would never do something so horrible!"

Cora grabbed one of his arms, holding it up to show the bloody imprints around his wrists. It was clear he'd been held by something, hard enough to wound him. It was proof, clear as day, that Cora was right.

"But my lady wouldn't… hurt me." He frowned, shaking his head as it hurt terribly.

"Listen to me, Calvin." Her hands went up to hold his cheeks and turn him toward her so they were face to face. "You're under a spell. A spell to make her all you know. You're not from here, at least I don't think so." She looked off to the side uneasily. "You have the same issue I do, and you only have two weeks to fix it. You don't have time to wander around gathering things for the sea witch!"

"Two weeks?" He said softly, as if that seemed to jog a memory.

"Yes, two weeks, you have to find you-" her mouth twisted as if she couldn't say the words, trying several times before growling in frustration. Something was keeping her from actually saying the goal. "You have to find someone." She finally said, sighing in relief when it actually came out.

"Who?" Calvin frowned in confusion.

"That's the question of the hour, isn't it?" Cora sighed. The fairy tale was supposed to be the Prince round the mermaid, but with how messed up it was she wasn't sure.

"Am I supposed to find you?" He said, trying to piece things together.

"That would be wonderful if it was me." She smiled with a bit of a blush. "Because I gotta say, you're fun to be with from the little I've seen. Riding horses, playing in the ocean… not much better than that."

Calvin looked down as he thought for a moment. He shouldn't know what riding a horse was like, if he was a merman. Yet he obviously did. Maybe she was right… but if he was under a spell, then how did he break it?

"My name is Cora, by the way." She said softly, and let out another moan as her head spun, leaning against him for a moment.

"Sorry." She whispered against his shoulder. "I just need to… do this for a minute."

Calvin felt his heart hammering as she leaned her cheek against his shoulder, and before he knew what he was doing his arm was wrapped around her waist for support. It felt… natural. "It's okay. You hit your head pretty hard. Sorry I suck at healing." He said softly.

She laughed softly against him, smiling against his skin. "It's alright, you tried and that's what counts."

He smiled at her reassurance, setting his other hand at her bright red hair as it floated around them. The bleeding looked like it had stopped, so hopefully she would be alright. If he were home he'd have rushed her to a hospital already.

Wait. Hospital?

"What's a hospital?" He asked softly, hoping she knew.

"Oh, you remembered something?" She said hopefully, looking up at him from against his shoulder. "A hospital is a big building where you bring people who are sick or injured. I don't think they have them here. From the technology I saw they probably have doctors, though."

Calvin frowned, confused again. "How would I know something that's not from here?"

"Because you're not from here either. Though I'm not sure where you're from. Your accent sounds American, though." She said, watching his expressions carefully.

"American…" he growled, holding his head. It ached whenever he tried to think of things like this. He felt something rise in his throat and held her to the side quickly as he coughed something up, black sludge appearing in the water next to him after he was done. He looked at the sludge as it fell, his stomach churning uneasily when it had come from him. What was that?

His head didn't hurt as much now, at least. He didn't feel like he immediately wanted to return to Florence, either.

"Cora?" He looked down to her anxiously, hoping he wasn't being too much for her in her state. "Tell me more."

Cora smiled up to him, nodding. "I'll tell you whatever I know"
