It was Monday and Kagome was working on her project with her team. She had a really hard time to concentrate, the discussion with Inuyasha playing on repeat in her mind.
She had to find a moment to do some research but she couldn't obviously do that during work hours. Also, she didn't know the place enough yet to be able to pinpoint what and where to search exactly.
During the morning break, one of her co-workers joined her in front of the break room's coffee machine. It was Kikyo, the person who helped her a lot during the firsts weeks. They took their breaks together since her first day.
"Hey Kagome."
"Ah! Oh hey Kikyo!" she answered, a bit startled.
"Are you ok?" she asked, concerned.
"Yes, why?"
"You really seem out of it today." Kikyo remarked.
"I just have a lot on my mind, that's all." she stated.
"Do you want to share your thoughts?"
"I... I'm not sure how to explain it..."
"Just try. If you want to, that is."
Kagome picked up the paper cup of freshly brewed coffee from the machine. She took a sip, thinking. Kikyo stood there quietly, waiting for the girl to gather her thoughts.
"Ok. So I would like to learn more informations about a certain type of yokais. Like their history, genealogy, customs and more." Kagome said.
"And what type of yokais is that?"
"Hum, Inu yokais actually..."
Kagome blushed a bit and looked down at the coffee in her hands, hoping her co-worker hasn't noticed.
"Ah. You can definately find informations about them in the archives. May I ask why?" Kikyo answered, a tiny smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.
"I... Hum..." She cleared her throat. "Well I know someone who's a descendant of them and I was curious about something."
"Wouldn't that person be a hanyo with dog ears, by any chance?"
Kagome looked up at her co-worker, wide-eyed.
"That's what I thought." continued Kikyo, now smiling. "His name is Inuyasha, isn't it? I know him personally."
"What really? When did you meet him?" she asked.
Kikyo chuckled lightly. "Around 10 years ago? We dated for a couple of months when I was 21."
"Oh... I see."
"If you want, we can talk about that during lunch break? Maybe I can answer your questions, from what I remember." Kikyo suggested.
"Sure, why not? And thanks!"
Kagome was waiting for Kikyo in the break room. She was sitting at a table by the windows, in the back of the room, for more privacy. She couldn't believe her luck! Not only her co-worker knew where to find informations about Inu yokais, but she also knew Inuyasha.
Kikyo joined her a few minutes later. The women started to eat their lunches. Kagome was nervous because she didn't know how much information she could share with her co-worker. Her thoughts were interrupted by Kikyo's voice.
"So, what do you want to know? I'll try to answer and if I can't, I'll show you how to search in the archives."
"Well... Something happened a few days ago and... neither Inuyasha nor I knew why it did."
"You'll have to be more specific Kagome."
Kagome blushed. "Hum... Well... Let's say things got quite heated between us at one point."
"Ah yes, things can get really hot with this guy. I have good memories of that." answered Kikyo, a small smile tugging on her lips.
Kagome blushed even more. She had a general idea, but didn't know how hot it can get... yet.
"Anyway hum... We had to stop before even doing anything more than making out because he said he might lose control on his yokai side... So yeah. I need to know why and what to do."
"Hm..."
"Did... Did something like this happened when...?" asked Kagome shyly.
"Oh no. He was totally in control, let me tell you." She winked at her.
Kagome almost choked on her sip of water.
"O-ok. So hum... Do you have an idea why this happened? Or what might have caused this?"
"Honestly, I don't know. You'll have to dig through the archives. You should check on yokais mating rituals. We still have 30 minutes before going back to work, I can show you how to do researches."
"Yokais mating rituals?!" Kagome exclaimed. "Ok then."
The women were walking in a corridor leading to the office's library. Kikyo unlocked the door with her magnetic card. In this room, there was bookcases filled with research papers and books all related to the studies of yokais throughout the centuries, as well as folkloric tales, historical books and magazines.
Four computers were available to search through the library index as well as to have access to the archives of the nation's yokais researches.
"So, these computers will be your best friends whenever you want to consult any book or research already published." explained Kikyo. "You don't need to login to have access to everything but if you want to save your research, you will have to be logged in."
Kagome sat in front of a computer and moved the mouse to wake up the screen.
"That's ok, I'll take notes on a piece of paper."
"Alright, I have a call to do so I leave you to your research. Good luck!"
"Thank you Kikyo for your help." said Kagome, smiling warmly, before typing the keywords for her research.
As usual, Kagome took the bus after work and stopped at the Wolf's lair to meet Inuyasha. Since he was working the day shift today, he would be done in an hour or so. They planned to go back to his place for dinner and spend the evening together.
"Hey mister cute bartender!" chimed Kagome, taking a seat in her usual spot at the bar.
"Hey beautiful." he answered, before joining her. He hugged her briefly and kissed her forehead. "How was your day?"
"Not productive but... eventful? I'll tell you everything after you're done working."
"I'm almost done. It was slow today so I was able to do the other stuff throughout the day and Koga told me to leave as soon as possible. I won't say no to that."
Twenty minutes later, they were walking to Inuyasha's place.
"So, I'm curious about your eventful day." the hanyo asked.
"Well, I was distracted because of what happened this weekend, and one of my colleagues noticed. We talked and I told her I wanted to research infos about Inu yokais. Well she basically asked if it was because I knew you." Kagome explained.
"Wait. Your co-worker knows me?" Inuyasha asked.
"Yep. Really well in fact. Her name's Kikyo."
"Oh. Wow. Didn't hear that name in a long time. I didn't know she works there."
They arrived at Inuyasha's house. He let themselves in. Kagome sat on the couch while the hanyo got two glasses of wine. He put them on the low living room table and sat beside the black haired girl, slipping his arm around her shoulders.
"So, what did she tell you?" he asked.
"She said she's one of your exes? I'm not the jealous type, don't worry. I just found the coincidence too perfect." she said, chuckling.
"Yeah... we dated for a few weeks like, 9-10 years ago. It didn't work out but we're not enemies. We just lost touch with time."
"Anyway, I didn't give her much information but talked to her a bit about... your yokai's agitation. She suggested I researched on yokais mating rituals."
Inuyasha snorted.
"Well, I don't know about rituals but yeah, I'd say mating is a good lead." he answered, grinning.
He turned towards her and leaned in, kissing her passionately. She eagerly responded, deepening the kiss.
Damn she's so intoxicating. the half-demon thought.
She climbed on his lap, straddling him. He pulled her flush against his chest, both hands in her hair, his tongue dancing with hers.
Kagome was dizzy and she felt like her stomach was doing somersaults. She wanted more of him. More of his touch, more of his mouth on her skin. She wanted to taste every inch of his body.
He was hard against her core and she couldn't restrain herself from moving her hips, causing friction that both made them gasp. He grabbed her butt with both hands, preventing her to move again.
Starting from her jaw, he kissed his way to her ear and nibbled at her lobe, drawing a shaky sigh from her.
He whispered in her ear, his hot breath making her shiver. "As much as I want to continue this as much as you do... it's better that we don't get carried away." He breathed heavily, almost struggling to speak. "I... really, really want you but I need to be sure I'm... in complete control of myself..."
Suddenly, she felt his grip tightening on her behind and noticed he was breathing rapidly. She looked at him and jumped when she saw his face.
His eyes were shut tightly, his forehead furrowed and his jaws were tense. She heard and felt a growl coming from his chest. His youki was raging and he looked like he was in pain.
"Inuyasha?"
"S-sorry Ka...gome... Too hard... Can't... Dammit!" he answered through clenched teeth.
She slipped her hands in his hair and started to massage his scalp. At the same time, she leaned her forehead against his and breathed slowly. Soon, the hanyo followed her steady and slow rhythm and his body started to relax.
Finally, he released his grip on her backside and slid his hands on her back, hugging her gently. She moved back to her seat on the couch, taking his hand in hers.
"I... Thank you." he murmured.
"Hey, we're in this together ok? I trust you. We'll find out what's going on." she said softly.
Inuyasha kissed the top of her head, before grabbing his glass of wine. He took a long sip of the fruity beverage.
"So... I kind of cut you in your explanations." They both chuckled. "Did you find anything?"
"Not yet, but I just had 30 minutes to search. At least I know where to look now." she answered.
"I did some research on internet but I only found some creepy drawings of demons fucking and fantasy websites so far."
Kagome snorted.
"Do you mind if tomorrow I stay later at work? It'll give me more time to dig through the archives." she asked.
"Sure. I can go get you at work with my car when I'm done at the bar." the hanyo suggested.
"Good idea! But for now, we should cook our dinner, I'm starving!"
"Yeah, I know I left you hungry for more." he answered, winking at her.
She picked up the cushion beside her and hit Inuyasha square in the face.
"Oh that's how it is now?"
He got on his feet and grabbed Kagome by the waist and hoisted her on his right shoulder like a potato bag. She screamed and kicked her legs, trying to get free from her less than ideal position.
"INUYASHA! Let me down!" she shouted, laughing. "Or I will kick your ass!"
"Keh. Just try. I'm way stronger than you." he answered, grinning.
Taking advantage of her upside down position, she slapped his butt as hard as she could.
"Oh no you don't!" said the hanyo, while laying her back down on the couch. He kneeled beside the couch, pinned her arms over head and started to kiss her lightly and rapidly all over her face and neck. Then he decided to act like a puppy and sniff her rapidly where he left kisses, tickling her.
Kagome was squirming and laughing. "Stop. Stop! Have mercy! I give up!"
He finally stopped, and released her arms, but didn't move. Instead he kissed her slowly. She put her arms around his neck, kissing him back.
"Inuyasha?..." asked Kagome, caught in his golden gaze. "Can I ask you something?"
"Anything." he answered, smiling warmly.
"What... What are we? I mean... Can we consider we're dating?" she asked shyly.
He caressed her cheek with his right hand and kissed her again.
"I'd say we are, yeah."
