Chapter 37: Darkest
Mount Justice

Blue Jay's POV
I stood shaking a bit while Nightwing stood in front of him in the mission room.
I did it.
I have told him everything.
Including my relation to Ra's Al Ghul.
"Now you know, Dick."I admitted with a weak smile. "I'm also the one in the Team with bad DNA. Shocking, huh?"
As I looked down, I suddenly felt Nightwing embrace me in a tight yet comforting embrace.
"Emi. If you think yourself a monster because you find out that you are related to a super villiam like Ra's, you are not."Nightwing declared. "You are the still the person I love. Nothing will ever replace that."
Tears of utter joy developed in my eyes before Nightwing titled my chin to look at him and leaned forward to kiss me.
I closed my eyes and immediately gave myself over to the kiss, wrapping my arms around his neck as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Nightwing pulled me closer in response as our mouths moved together in heated desperation.
We then stopped to catch our breaths.
"Thank you, Dick."I admitted. "I promise from now on I won't keep anymore secrets to myself. I want to sure everything with you. Including the Team."
"Right."Dick said, cracking a sad smile."Emi….I need to tell you something."
Nightwing never got the chance to tell me what he wanted to say when Impulse and Blue Beetle suddenly burst into the Cave.
He pointed at the strange device in Impulse's hands.
"What is that?"Nightwing questioned.
"Souvenir."Impulse said.
"Souvenirs are Beast Boy's thing, dude."Blue Beetle reminded.
I frowned. "No, they're Wally's thing."
"Can we get to the point?"Nightwing asked in a harsh tone.
"Sorry!"Blue Beetle apologised. "Aqualad attacked us with Icicle Junior, the Terror Twins, and a ninja girl I didn't recognise!"
"And then I stole the thing they were using to track Blue."Impulse admitted in a proud tone.
I felt boiling rage rise inside me as I angrily facepalmed.
Idiots!
"You mean you brought foreign, potentially alien tech into the Cave without second thoughts?!"I scowled.
"Rookie mistake."Nightwing informed. "Give it here."
Soon after I left Nightwing, Blue Beetle and Impulse to go to the grotto, only to find Superboy staring at the hologram of Artemis.
However, my attention went on the hologram that was of…the previous Robin.
Jason.
He looked a bit like Dick during his time as Robin, but he was completely different.
I still remember how he was.
He was filled with so much potential and power, but most of the time it strangely felt that he was also dangerous.
Mixed feelings suddenly developed inside me as I remembered being told of Jason's death at the hands of the Joker.
I would never forgive myself of that.
"There was nothing you could've done for him."
I looked at Superboy for a moment before bringing my attention back on Robin II's hologram image.
"I know, Conner. But he was like a brother to me."I responded with a sad frown. "Why is why sometimes I can't help, but feel be responsible for what happened."
Suddenly, Superboy pushed me out of the way when a blast of ice attempted to hit me.
My eyes widen in shock when I saw Tommy Terror rush forward and slam Superboy against the wall.
I moved my hands to take out the batarangs in my belt, only for Icicle Jr. to freeze them with his ice blasts.
I glared angrily at Icicle Jr. as he placed an inhibitor collar on my neck.
How did they get in here?!
Tommy Terror released Superboy before Icicle Jr. encased Superboy in ice, but it didn't stop him.
Superboy breaks free, but Tommy Terror immediately puts an inhibitor collar around his neck.
The former clone attempted to hit Tommy Terror, but failed to launch a punch at him.
"Sorry, son."Tommy Terror sneered. "Collar's done shut off your strength."
"And that's not all it can do."Icicle Jr. stated evilly, taking out a small remote.
I immediately crushed the chunk of ice on the ground that imprisoned my hands to aide Superboy, only to drop in my knees in pain when the inhibitor collar around my neck electrocuted me.
I winced at the sharp zap that hit my body as I watched Superboy drop down as Tommy Terror and Icicle Jr. surround him.
"Don't know about you, Junior...but I'm harboring some old resentments against this boy."Tommy Terror commented.
Tommy Terror cracked his knuckles as a blast of ice appeared in Icicle Jr.'s hand.
"Oh, yeah."Icicle Jr. responded. "Let's finish him along with the annoying bird brain."
I closed my eyes for the worst, only to hear a familiar voice speak out.
"Belay that."Aqualad answered. "When the time is right, you will have your revenge. For now, I need Superboy and Blue Jay alive."
"Kaldur."I muttered in a sour tone. "I see you brought your new friends with you."
"Is Blue Beetle in the cave?"Aqualad questioned.
"As I'll tell you, traitor."I snarled.
I winced when I felt my head being held hard by Tommy Terror's hand as me and Superboy were taken out of the grotto.
The next thing that happened, me and Superboy were tossed into Nightwing while Impulse and Blue Beetle fought against our enemies.
Icicle Jr. blasts the floor with ice, but Impulse sees through it.
Impulse goes around, up the wall, and takes out Icicle Jr. without breaking a sweat.
Seeing Tuppence with Beast Boy, Impulse tried to do the same move again, but she was too strong.
Impulse bounced off Tuppence, straight in the hands of Tommy, who fits a collar around his neck.
"Ah! My hands!"Impulse scowled. "What are you made of?"
Tommy Terror smirked. "Snips and snails and puppy dog tails."
Impulse thought he can vibrate out of the collar, but finds his powers were blocked.
"Ah, nice try, but I'll just vibrate right out of this..."Impulse started and notice his speed was gone. "No speed. I'm moded, aren't I?"
Tommy knocked Impulse to the floor and Blue Beetle attacked with his sonic cannon.
My attention went on Nightwing, who came out from his unconsciousness and was not far from where me and Superboy were.
"You okay, Jay?"Nightwing asked.
Before I can open my mouth to say anything, a ninja girl attacked Nightwing and fits him with a collar as well.
The ninja girl had shoulder length jet black hair, almond shaped eyes and pale skin. She wore predominantly burnt orange and black costume, with a hard orange mask that covers her forehead, nose and cheeks resembling a stylised tiger's face. She also wore a black sheath behind her back which stores her sword and also wears a black belt to store her weapons.
"Sorry."Nightwing stated. "No super-powers for your collar to turn off."
Nightwing throws Tigress off of him and she responds by activating the taser, which knocked him out.
"Nightwing!"I cried out.
"Stand down!"Aqualad demanded.
Blue Beetle and I notice Aqualad going between the Terror Twins.
"Good guys included?"Blue Beetle snarled. "No thanks."
"This battle is over."Aqualad informed.
Blue Beetle pointed his sonic cannons at Kaldur.
"I don't think so, traitor!"Blue Beetle growled.
I paled as I wanted Kaldur take out a bag which revealed to be a bomb.
"Then rethink, Beetle. This is the same type of bomb that obliterated Malina Island."Aqualad declared and took out a small remote. "I am holding down the dead man's switch. If my thumb comes off this button, for any reason...Mount Justice falls."
A look of horror grew on my face, upon realising what Aqualad was planning to do.
Blue Beetle then flew down and deactivated his sonic cannons.
"We're standing down."Blue Beetle stated.
Tommy Terror then placed a inhibitor collar on Blue Beetle's neck to prevent him from using his powers.
"Wise choice."Aqualad commented.
Icicle Jr. then arrived to the scene, riding a wave of ice.
"I'm fine, by the way."Icicle Jr. retorted.
"Good."Aqualad said. "Escort Beetle, Impulse and Beast Boy to the Flyer."
The ninja girl looked at me, Nightwing and Super Boy.
"What about these three?"Tigress asked.
"As hostages here, they have value."Aqualad complemented. "But Nightwing and Blue Jay are ordinary humans. Superboy, a human-Kryptonian hybrid clone. Neither category is of any interest to our Partner."
Nightwing stood up on his feet to glare at Aqualad.
"Aqualad, you'll regret this!"Nightwing yelled out.
Aqualad crossed over to Nightwing and punched him harshly in the stomach.
"Leave him alone!"I snapped.
"I believe that I have outgrown the name Aqualad."Aqualad retorted and began to walk away. "As well as anything resembling regret. I will leave the bomb with you as a souvenir. The dead man's switch has a five mile range. Do not pursue."
When Aqualad and his team left with our captured friends, I carefully made my way to the bomb.
"Nightwing, we need to disable this bomb somehow."I warned. "Otherwise, we'll blow up in smithereens."
"I know, Jay. But Kaldur is the one with the dead man switch."Nightwing said as he recovered from Kaldur's hit. "Help me take Superboy and Wolf out of here."
Me and my boyfriend picked up Superboy to leave the Mission Room.
But before we realised, we heard a rather familiar yet disturbing beep that came from a certain device.
"He actually did it."I whispered in horror.
"We need to leave now!"Nightwing shouted.
BOOM!
The next thing that happened was we heard a violent wave throw us off balance as everything around us exploded.
Blasts of fire erupted skyward.
Giant electrical conduits sprayed multicoloured sparks.
Things exploded and hurled shrapnel at us.
I felt myself throw into the ocean as the cave collapsed into a heap of flaming smoking ruin below me.
My mind began to drift away as I was sinking deeper into the ocean.
Then something touched me and felt myself become completely cold when I noticed I was brought out of the water.
I coughed out the water that I swallowed as I saw it was the Super-Cycle the one who saved me along with Nightwing, Superboy and Wolf.
Mal then swam toward us to see if we were alright.
"Blue Jay, are you okay?"Mal questioned.
"I'm fine, Mal."I replied. "In shock, but I'm fine."
"Conner! Superboy!"Mal called out. "Wake up!"
Mal splashed water on Superboy to wake him up.
"What?"Superboy said in shock.
"Questions later, man."Mal informed. "Grab Wolf."
"Right."Superboy answered. "Right."
Superboy recovered from his shock and grabbed Wolf with both his arms.
The cycle curled up into her ball mode and falls to the ocean floor to heal.
I quickly caught Nightwing in my arms to save him from drowning.
"The S-Cycle's sinking."Mal warned. "Will Sphere be okay?"
"Uh, yeah, I think so."Superboy answered. "She folds up to heal."
Mal brought his attention to me.
"Jay, can you make it to shore with Nightwing?"Mal asked.
"Yeah."I replied with a nod. "I got him."
Mal, Conner and myself then swim to shore while carrying Nightwing and Wolf.
We survived, but Mount Justice was no more.
