Quicksand
Chapter 5
Authors Note : Stay tuned. Thank you. Peyton left town a year ago. Not Karen.
Running in circles, now look what you've done
Give you my word as you take it and run
Wish you'd let me stay, I'm ready now.
Days Later
"I haven't told Lucas. I don't know how to tell Ellison."
"Its better if they all think i left for my own reasons."
"Dad please leave it alone." Peyton pleaded. Ending the call between them.
She had gotten rid of all her social media and was only using burner phones to communicate. She had decided to take off and settle in another small town.
She was a short drive away from Wilmington.
She had moved to Carolina Beach. Wide sand. The vintage boardwalk.
...
"So i need you're help. I need new dating clothes."
"Lucas and I are still figuring out our schedules. But our first date will hopefully be happening soon."
"My taste in guys normally sucks. This is a big improvement."
"We should book a shopping trip.?" Rachel suggested.
Brooke felt her entire body react to Rachel's words. Especially the words first date.
"You work at the store with me here. Which means any days off you need. Just let me know." Brooke insisted.
Rachel pulled her into a tight hug.
"You are the best boss." Rachel stated matter of fact.
Brooke rolled her eyes. Feeling the impending growth of jealousy.
Build up within her.
"You are the fashion expert. Whatever you say to buy i will." Rachel explained.
...
"You're really planning on going out on this date with Rachel.?" Skills asked.
"Yes. Why can't anyone in this friend group be supportive."
"Rachel's great. She's not as drama filled as she was in high school. She moved on from the modeling world. Plus its not like Brooke cares anyway." Lucas replied.
Nathan. Mouth. And Skills looked to each other.
Then back at Lucas.
"What are the three of you not saying.?" Lucas asked.
"We all know you and Brooke are hooking up." Nathan admitted.
"That has nothing to do with Rachel." Lucas replied.
"Brooke is doing what she always does. Putting others before herself." Mouth added in.
"What are all of you trying to say.?" Lucas questioned.
"I'm sorry we're late." Rachel said. As her and Brooke gathered around the resturant dining room table.
