"That was the last box." said Inuyasha.
He and his friends, Miroku and Sango, were helping Kagome to move out of her appartment.
"Finally!" exclaimed the black haired girl. "I hate moving out!"
The hanyo gave her a light kiss.
"It might be the last time. Unless we eventually decide to buy a bigger house."
It has been 10 months since Kagome became Inuyasha's mate. Even after that time, she still couldn't believe her luck to be with such a wonderful man.
Today was the last day of her lease, and they had decided it was time for her to move in with him. Anyway, she rarely spent time at her appartment in the last 6 months.
It took the four of them only 3 hours to unpack her belongings in Inuyasha's house. Their house.
They ordered pizza to celebrate. They were all sitting at the kitchen table, laughing, eating and drinking beer.
"Thanks everyone for your help!" said Kagome.
"No problem! I'm so happy to see you two taking a step forward! Anyway next month you'll have to help me move in with my boyfriend." answered Sango, as Miroku kissed her temple.
"We're all becoming real adults." he joked.
"I'm a century ahead of you all." declared Inuyasha.
"In human years, maybe. For you it's what, 2 years?" Miroku asked, grinning.
"Keh! It's more or less 10 years for me."
Kagome leaned against his biceps.
"Anyway, you're very well preserved." she joked.
Later that night, the couple was cuddling in bed, ready for the night after a long day.
"I still can't believe this is all real." said Kagome softly.
He boyfriend kissed her forehead. "Yeah... me neither."
A week later, Kagome was at home doing some late work while Inuyasha was on the night shift at the bar.
Her phone chimed but she ignored it, not wanting to lose her trail of thoughts.
It chimed again twice so sighing, she checked who was texting her.
Sango-chan : [Hey, are you free?]
Sango-chan : [I really need to talk to someone...]
Sango-chan : [Ok I'm panicking right now, please call me...]
Kagome hit the call button right away, worried. Her friend answered on the first ring.
"Kagome!"
"Hey Sango. I'm sorry, I was doing some work. Is something wrong?"
She heard sniffles.
"Sango are you crying? What happened?"
"I..."
Tightening her grip on her phone, she gathered her purse, her coat and her keys.
"Don't move. I'm putting my shoes on and I'm coming. You're at Miroku's place?"
"N-no mine." her friend answered after blowing her nose.
"I'm really worried Sango. Did someone have an accident or passed away?" she asked while rushing down the stairs.
"N-no."
"Did Miroku break up with you? Or cheated?" she continued.
"It's not that... I..."
Kagome hailed a taxi and got on the back seat.
"I'm in a taxi right now, I'll be there in 10 minutes."
Kagome knocked on the door and opened it right away. "Sango?" she called.
She looked around the appartment and found her sitting on her bed, hunched over, holding something in her hands.
She approached her calmly and sat beside her on the bed. Kagome put her arm around her friend's shoulders and Sango leaned on her.
"What's wrong, Sango? I've never seen you this distressed before. I'm worried."
Sniffling, she showed what she was holding in her hands. As soon as she saw it, Kagome understood.
"Oh Sango... You're pregnant."
Tears rolling down on her cheeks, her friend nodded. Kagome hugged her tightly, rubbing her back in soothing motion. She calmed down a bit.
"Does Miroku know?"
"No... I just found out... You're the only one I told... I think I'm in shock..."
"That's understandable... When is he coming back home?"
"Tomorrow morning. He's working a night shift today..."
"Do you want me to stay tonight?" Kagome asked.
Sango nodded. "I really don't want to be alone right now..."
"Ok. I'm just sending a text to Inuyasha so he knows why I'm not at home. Don't worry, I'll just tell him that you needed to talk to me and I decided to stay for the night. I'll just go get my phone."
Kagome retrieved her phone that she had left in the living room with her purse.
Me: [Hey, I won't be at home when you'll be back. I'm with Sango. She was upset so I went to her place and decided to stay.]
A few seconds later, she saw that he was replying.
Inuyasha : [Is something wrong? Should I go get Miroku?]
Me: [No need. It's a girl's problem and I'm with her. She just doesn't want to be alone. See you tomorrow.]
Inuyasha : [Ok, just let me know if you need anything. Love you.]
Me: [I love you too.]
Kagome prepared some herbal tea and sweet snacks. She sat at the kitchen table with her friend.
"Thank you for coming so fast... I saw the second line on the test and I freaked out..." Sango said softly.
"It's ok. You know I'll always be there for you. Do you wanna talk about it?"
Sango nodded.
"Do you know how many weeks you might be?" Kagome asked, concerned.
"I'm not sure... I'm 3 weeks late on my period. So maybe around 2 months."
"Do you have an idea how it happened? I mean, you've been taking the pill fora long time..."
"That's the thing I never skipped a dose. I always take it at the same time each day so... Oh." Sango looked at her friend, wide-eyed.
"Oh shit..." she continued. "You know a few weeks ago, when I had a stomach bug? Well maybe I puked the pill?"
"That's a possibility." Kagome answered.
"Anyway it doesn't matter how... I... I don't want to get an abortion though. But I'm not sure if I'm ready... to be a mom."
"Can I be honest with you?" Kagome took one of her friend's hand.
"Huh... Yeah?"
"I know the timing may not be the best and that you've been with Miroku for less than a year. But knowing you, how caring you are, how strong you are, I'm sure you'll be a great mom." Kagome said softly.
Sango's eyes filled with tears.
"I'm not sure about that..."
"I know it's scary like hell. But you're not alone. You have Miroku who loves you so much, you have me, and Inuyasha also. We'll be there for you."
"Thank you... Hugh, I'm exausted. Do you mind sleeping beside me tonight?" Sango asked.
"Of course I don't mind." Kagome answered, a reassuring smile on her face.
The next morning, Kagome had to go to work. Sango assured her she would manage.
Sango decided to stay at home and called at work to say she was sick. It wasn't a lie really, because the morning sickness and the stress were making her feel like crap.
She wanted to call Miroku right away but he needed to sleep. So she busied herself, absentmindedly watching movies on Netflix.
In the afternoon, she received a text from him, saying he was awake. Not trusting her voice, she texted him back, asking him to come over.
An hour later, he knocked at her door and let himself in. He was holding two cups of hot chocolate that he bought on the way to her place.
"Hey honey! I'm here!" Miroku called.
"Hi..." Sango murmured.
"Sango... Is something wrong? You look like you didn't sleep last night..."
"Can you come with me in the living room? I have something... something important to tell you."
The woman's heart was racing, not sure how to tell the news to her boyfriend.
Miroku felt nervous, wondering if he did something to upset her. Or maybe she wanted to tell him she doesn't love him anymore?
He put the hot chocolate cups on the side table and sit beside his girlfriend. He took her hand in his, looking at her seriously.
"What did you want to tell me?" he asked softly.
She looked at her other hand resting on her lap.
"I... Miroku I... am pregnant..."
She started to cry and Miroku took her in his arms.
"You're... pregnant?" he repeated, dumbfounded.
"Yes... What are we going to do?"
Miroku hugged her more tightly and kissed her hair. After a few seconds, he stepped back and he lifted her face gently with his hand to be able to look her in the eyes.
"We'll manage, honey. I'll take care of both of you. I... I always wanted to have kids anyway... Even if we didn't plan this pregnency... I believe that there's a reason for that baby to have made his nest in your belly. Maybe it was meant to be..."
"Miroku..."
They were looking at each other, submerged by emotions. Sango hid her face in his chest and he rubbed her back slowly.
"I love you Sango... Since I met you, almost a year ago, I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. And now, there will be even more love in our home."
Sango looked at him. She still had tears in her eyes, but a small smile appeared on her lips. He caressed her face with his hands, wiping her tears at the same time.
She then kissed him, pouring all her love in this motion. He responded to it gently, slowly.
That night, Miroku didn't go to work and stayed by his girlfriend's side, reassuring her that things would be alright. He caressed and kiss her stomach, thinking about the little miracle hidden in there.
The same night, Kagome was back home with Inuyasha after thy finished to work. They had eat dinner and were now cuddling on the couch.
"What was wrong with Sango last night?" asked the hanyo.
She had texted her friend throughout the day to ask if she was ok and she had agreed that Kagome tell the news to Inuyasha.
"She just found out that she's pregnant..."
"What? That's... good news, no?" he asked with a questioning look.
"Well... It wasn't planned and she says she's not ready to be a mom. So she was freaking out when she found out."
Inuyasha thought for a few seconds.
"Miroku must be happy." the hanyo stated. "Having kids is one of his biggest dreams. The guy would be happy with 10 mini him running around the house."
Kagome gasped. "Ten kids! Sango will definately not be on board with that, that's for sure."
"Hm-hm."
Inuyasha was lost in his thoughts. His girlfriend looked at him. She would sometimes like to be able to read his mind...
"What... What do you think of kids?" he asked.
"Kids? I like them. But are you talking about... having kids?"
The hanyo blushed slightly. "Yeah... One day I'd like to have a family. To be able to give them the childhood I never had but... With my yokai blood, I..." He shakes his head.
Kagome looked at him tenderly.
"To be honest... I'd really like to have a baby with you one day... And yes, he or she would be a hanyo but I see that as a wonderful thing. And you would be there to help them understand who they are."
"Kagome..."
He kissed her slowly, tasting her, indulging himself in her delightful scent. In that moment, he decided that, soon, he would propose to her.
They had been united by fate, and he wanted to tell the world that this amazing woman was his. He knew that she loved him for who he was, regardless of his origins.
Finally, after all these years, he had found his place in the world. For the first time in his life, he could say he was truly happy.
The end.
So this is it! I wrote and published that fic on AO3 a few months ago. I hadn't reread it so it was nice to do so as well! I had this idea in my head for a while.
I hope you liked to read it as much as I liked writing it. It was the first time that I wrote smut. I think it turned out ok.
Don't hesitate to leave a comment, I always appreciate it! Thanks!
