Maura and Olivia wake up with their legs tangled up with each other. Maura watches as Olivia sleeps soundly, admiring the body of the woman in front of her. She traces her finger along the depths of her clavicle.

Olivia rouses, smiling as she says, "Back for more already?".

Maura gets on top of the other woman, pressing herself into Olivia as her curls fall around her face. Maura doesn't answer, instead kissing Olivia's neck and trailing lower and lower. A loud ring interrupts them and Maura recognizes the ringtone immediately. It's Jane.

She mouths, "I'm sorry" to Olivia before getting up from the bed, slipping a robe on as she walks downstairs. "Jane".

Maura hears Jane's husky voice on the other end, "Hey Maura. I just got discharged. Can you come over?". Maura walks hastily back up the stairs to change and avoids Olivia's gaze as she turns into her closet.

"Everything alright?", Olivia asks.

"Yes, I'm sorry. I have to leave for a bit. Can we have dinner tonight?" Maura asks with an apology evident in her facial expressions. She dresses in a simple blouse with some jeans, ignoring the side of her closet where Jane's clothes lay.

"I would love to. Maybe it'll give me a chance to enjoy you more after", Olivia says as she pulls Maura into a kiss.

The kiss deepens and she draws Olivia closer with her hands on her back. When Maura pulls away, she almost feels tempted to be late meeting Jane as she sees the look that Olivia has. Walking away from this beautiful woman in her bed was proving to be harder than she anticipated. She pulls Olivia's hand down, letting Olivia feel how aroused she was.

"Remember this. It'll be here for you when you return tonight", she teases as she bites Olivia's ear. Olivia looks tempted to push Maura back into bed right then and there but decides to respect Maura's plans. Maura leaves a lingering kiss on her lips. Olivia sticks her fingers into her mouth, sucking and enjoying the show that she was putting on for Maura.

"I'll be waiting", she says as they hold eye contact. Maura grabs her keys and walks out the door as with each step, she begins to feel more and more conflicted. She loves Jane, but she could not deny the chemistry between her and Olivia. Plus, she never had to guess how Olivia felt about her, which was incredibly refreshing. She did not have to worry about if Olivia would run away from her or shy away from her feelings. She felt wanted and her body's desires were being met by the woman's incredible skills in bed. Maybe it was time to move on and just be grateful for the friendship that she had with Jane.

She drives over to Jane's, not needing directions as she has this route memorized by heart. As she walks up the steps, she hears an unfamiliar voice.

"I can't stop thinking about the other night, Jane. When that injury of yours heals, I hope you use those strong arms again to make me feel the way you did", says a brunette with shoulder-length hair. Before Jane can answer, Maura turns the corner, and Jane's eyes widen in surprise. Jane stutters and Maura turns, feeling the bite of envy and anger rise in her chest as Jane chases after her.

"Maura, wait. It's not what you think. I was just about to end it with her", Jane says desperately.

"It's none of my business, Jane. I am with Olivia anyways", Maura replies as Jane grabs her arms to stop her from walking away.

"It is. I have been finding the nerve to tell you something and I really need you right now. Please just give me another chance to explain things. I know I'm a coward", Jane begs. Maura remembers the marks on Jane's back, how the red lipstick on her cheek had been smeared with blood as Jane bled out from a gunshot wound. She pushes the thoughts from her head, reminding herself that the detective was alive and well, and in front of her. She starts shaking from the emotions brewing inside of her as she turns away to leave again, ignoring Jane as she calls out her name. Jane's long legs allow her to catch up to Maura in a few strides and she stands in front of Maura to stop her path.

"Please", Jane says with a heartbroken look on her face. Maura crosses her arms.

"Fine. Are you finally being honest with yourself?", she questions.

"I'm working on it. But I need you to work with me while I figure things out. This is all new to me, Maur. I'm scared", Jane says as she gestures with her open hands.

Maura feels torn. She has to choose, right now, who she wants. The best friend whom she has been in love with for the last five years, or the new woman who makes her feel like a priority. The choice is evident and for once, her brain and heart are in alignment as she realizes who she really wants. She steps closer to Jane as Jane places a hand on her arm, not sure if Jane is trying to comfort Maura or herself. She searches Jane's eyes, which have tears in them, as she finally drops her guard. Maura pulls Jane into an embrace, feeling the sobs of the taller woman as her shoulders move from the force of her crying.

"It's okay, Jane. I'm here. Let it all out", Maura whispers as she rubs comforting circles on Jane's back. Jane cries for a few minutes before she puts some space between them so she can look at Maura and smiles through her tears.

"Thanks. Can we talk tonight?".

It is at that moment that Maura remembers the plans that she made with Olivia for the same night. "Yes, but let me do something first, okay?" Maura asks softly.

Maura feels Jane nodding against her head as they return back into an embrace. Jane wipes the tears from her face, sniffling as she finds her composure. "Let's meet at the docks tonight. I could use the fresh air and change of scenery."

"Okay. I'll text you when I'm on my way", Maura says, remembering the docks where they reunited after Jane had jumped after Paul. She pulls Jane in for a quick hug before returning to her car. As soon as the car door shuts, she pulls the seatbelt across her body and opens her phone. She calls Olivia and prepares herself for what she needs to say.

"Olivia? Hi. We really need to talk. Are you free right now?", Maura asks. Oliva senses the urgency in Maura's voice.

"Sure, Maura. I'll make some time. Can you meet me at work?"

"Absolutely". Maura answers as she enters the address that Olivia sends over.

"Got it. I can be there in 10. Should I bring anything?" Olivia asks.

"Just yourself, please" Maura answers as she starts her car and hits the blinker, waiting for traffic to clear until she pulls off. They hang up and Maura is plagued with a sense of guilt. She regrets involving herself with Olivia before her feelings were properly sorted out with Jane. Although she did not anticipate that Jane would ever return her feelings or admit them, she was sad to know that Olivia, this wonderful woman, had gotten involved. She wondered what would have happened between her and Olivia if they had continued to pursue each other and imagined what it would be like to remain friends with Jane as she dated Olivia.

As her phone announces her arrival at her destination, she looks around her at the office building located on the waterfront. She realizes that she never asked Olivia what she did for a living as she walks hesitantly to the front of the building. Olivia waves and opens the door, holding it as she gives Maura a quick hug and lets Maura in.

Maura is so focused on what she needs to say to Olivia that she doesn't see Olivia lock the door behind her. As soon as Maura looks around, a bad feeling settles in her stomach as she takes in the completely empty building. There are no desks, phones, or any sign of office supplies. When Maura turns back to look at Olivia, her scream is muffled by a cloth soaked with chloroform. Maura loses consciousness and her body slumps to the ground as Olivia's strong arms lower her down. Olivia laughs at the bewildered look that was on Maura's face and shushes Maura as Maura falls into a deep sleep. Olivia strains, dragging Maura further into the building.
