Next morning Walter and Ralph , had their two hours working on the game . Paige filled out the forms to transfer the hoist patent to Happy .
Once she had completed all the necessary forms , she collated the forms , plans and other necessary paperwork ready to give to Happy when she came tonight .
Aneli went for a walk along the beach , a pleasure she enjoyed and was determined to do it as often as she could before she went home .
Paige had made coffee and called Walter and Ralph into the living area . Once they had all finished their drinks , Walter and Ralph returned to the game . Paige went back to her computer and began working on Registering Waige and Son as a company . It did not take her long to find the web site and within thirty minutes she had registered Waige and Son as a partnership .
Next she tackled the bank account as she already had a app on her phone for her own bank , she decided it was easier to open the account in her bank . She bought the app up on her phone and began the process of opening an account in the name of Waige and Son . She deposited the cheque from Richard Elia using the app , she made a note on the cheque of the time and date she deposited it , then put it to one side to file later . Once Walter came back from his "office " she would get him to transfer the information to her computer .
As she finished Aneli came in through the backdoor .
" Have you enjoyed your walk Aneli ? "
" Yes , very good , met a Bulgarian couple on the beach , had nice talk , they here on holiday ."
" That was nice for you , would you like a coffee , i was just going to make a fresh batch . " Asked Paige .
" Yes please . "
" Could you do me a favour , would you go and tell Walter and Ralph there are drinks waiting for them . " Paige asked with a smile on her face .
" My pleasure . " Aneli replied with an equally big smile on her face .
Paige went to the kitchen and made the coffee . Once it was made she put the coffee pot and three cups , plus milk and sugar on a tray and a glass of milk for Ralph . Going back into the living area , Walter , Ralph and Aneli were already seated .
After everyone had a drink , Paige turned to Aneli .
" Tonight we have two friends coming over for dinner , Toby and Happy . Happy is very keen to meet you , she was Ada's friend and she was the one who sent for us to recue Ada . Would it be alright if we use your Garash cake for dessert . "
" Of course , would you like help to cook tonight ? " Asked Aneli .
" Oh no , we are going to phone for a take out delivery . Do you like Chinese food ? Asked Paige .
" Not sure if tried it before , but you choose for me , i be happy . " Said Aneli .
Paige explained to Walter and Ralph what she had managed to do with regard to Waige and Son . She then asked Walter to transfer the details from her phone to the computer . Suddenly a thought came to her .
" Walter , have you closed the old Scorpion account ? "
" I had not thought much about it . Once the bank had foreclosed on the garage , i just packed up what i wanted and walked away from the garage and everything connected to Scorpion . " Walter explained .
" I think we had better check the account . You never know there may be a surprise . " Paige said as she reached for her computer .
She could still remember the account and a few moments later she bought up the details .
" Walter i think you had better take a look at this . " Paige said as she turned the screen towards him .
After studing it for a couple of minutes , he said . " That cannot be possible , lets see if i can get any details from the account . "
His fingers flew over the keys of the computer , the screen was covered in figures . After five minutes he sat back . " Well it is correct It would appear when i walked away , there were still a lot of invoices that had not been paid . all now seem to have been paid direct to the bank account . The figure of $50,000 is correct . " He explained to Paige .
" What will you do with that now dad ? " Asked Ralph .
" Transfer it to the Waige and Son account and close the Scorpion account . "
" Do you have any other accounts you may have forgotten ? " Paige asked Walter with a little concern in her voice .
Walter gave her one of his looks which turned into a goofy smile . " I do have a personal account but have not checked on it for a long time . "
He gave her the number of the account and Paige bought it up on the computer screen that showed a balance of $10,000 .
" You forgot you had $10,000 in an account . Walter what else are you hiding from me , your face is giving you away , so spill buster . "
Walter put his head down took a deep breath and in a very nervous voice began speaking .
" Before i say anything else you have to promise me you will not be mad at me . "
Paige looked at Walter and smiled at him . " Why would i be mad at you ? "
Walter looked at her and could see the smile , a smile which always melted his heart .
" Ok , about six months after i first met you and Ralph , i opened a savings account , with a deposit of $5,000 . Then every month i deposited $500 plus 10% of any money we had made on any job we had completed that month . It was a high interest savings account , which requires a three month notice to withdraw any money from it . So i do not really know how much money there is in that account .
" Let me check . " Said Paige .
" ERM ! A small problem it is not in my name . " A still nervous Walter said .
Paige looked surprised and for a moment was lost for words . She gave a small cough before asked .
" Then who is it for ? "
" Before i tell you please understand i did it out of love . She had worked hard all their life to keep a roof over her son's head and her own . The money was so her son could go to college and she would not need to worry about paying the fee's . The account is in your name Paige ."
Paige sat there unable to speak , she fell in love all over again with that man Walter . He was always thinking of her and Ralph . She could no longer resist , she reached over to him and pulled him into a tight hug and planted a kiss on his lips . Walter returned the kiss . After a couple of minutes Ralph spoke up .
" Mom , dad get a room . "
Walter and Paige broke the kiss , but still hugging both began laughing , Ralph and Aneli joining in . After a couple of minutes the laughing stopped , Paige wiped the tears from her eyes caused by the laughing .
" Do you think we should maybe check what is in the account ? " Paige suggested .
" If you would like , it is with a different bank for the higher interest paid . " Walter explained as he gave Paige the bank and account information .
After a few minutes Paige had the information on the computer screen .
" Walter that cannot be correct . " She said as she turned the computer screen towards Walter .
" $40,000 i did not expect that much . " Walter said as he looked at Paige and smiled .
" Walter i do not need this money now , but it is the most wonderful thing anyone as ever done for me . So thank you and i am sure Ralph thanks you to . We should maybe arrange to transfer it to a joint account in both our names . "
" Yes thank you dad and i agree with mom , but maybe a few dollars could find it's way into my account . " Ralph with a big smile on his face suggested . "
Walter smiled at Paige before answering . " I agree but leave it were it is for the moment . Once we are married we can put it in an account for Mr. and Mrs O'Brian , with maybe a few dollars for Ralph's account . "
By the time all the finances had been sorted it was close to lunch time , Aneli asked .
" We have beach picnic , i make snacks and coffee for the flask , water bottle for Ralph . "
" What a lovely idea , let me help you then we can get out there quicker . " Suggested Paige .
They returned from the beach picnic and after clearing up the left overs , Aneli asked to be excused . Paige wanted to arrange for the poster and cards required to take to the computer show . She suggested Walter and Ralph go and spend a little more time on the video game .
By 5.00pm Paige had completed all the orders for the cards and poster . Walter and Ralph had come back into the living area , closely followed by Aneli . Paige made coffee , while they were drinking it Aneli asked .
" Me after to be girlie again tonight to meet your friends ? "
" Sweetheart you look girlie all the time , you are perfect to meet Happy and Toby . " Replied Paige with a smile on her face .
Aneli smiled back at Paige as she said . " Thank you . "
Just before 7.00pm. there was a knock on the front door . Paige went to the door and greeted Happy and Toby .
" This is a beautiful house . " Said Happy as she walked through the door .
Toby sort of garbled a . " It's alright . "
" Everyone is in the living area , follow me . " Paige said as she walked to the living area .
Once there Happy went straight to Walter and hugged him , and then ruffled Ralph's hair .
Toby managed another ." Alright ."
Happy glared at him , which caused him to step back . Happy Walked over to Aneli .
" You must be Aneli , i am so pleased to meet you and i want to thank you for coming all this way to try and help my friend . Ignore old Fungus over there , he will come around soon , or at least he had better . " Said Happy as she again glared at Toby .
Aneli looked a little confused and turned to Paige . " Fungus , that funny name for a man . "
A big smile broke out on Paige's face . " No , his name is Toby , Happy just likes to call him that . "
Aneli still looking a little confused could only manage . " Oh ! "
" Sit down you two . We are going to have Chinese take out , but Aneli has made a special cake as a dessert . "
" Can i ask what it is ? " Asked Toby .
Paige looked at Aneli . " You tell him . "
Aneli seemed a little nervous , but managed a smile and said . " Garash , it is a Bulgarian chocolate cake . "
" I am looking forward to that . " Said Toby .
Paige phoned the order through to a Chinese restaurant they had used before and ordered a Chinese Banquet for six people .
The dining table had already been laid out , so they all remained seated in the living area . Toby indicated to Walter to follow him ,Walter looked at Paige who nodded her head to him indicating Walter to follow Toby . Walter got to Toby and suggested they go and sit on the porch .
Once they were both seated , Walter looked at Toby and asked , " Well ! "
Toby took his hat off and spun it a couple of times in his hands , before replacing it back onto his head .
" I know i apologized when we came back from the attorney's office , but i have to admit how you spoke to me that day showed me just how i have behaved . When you left i went for a long walk to get my mind sorted out , i know what you said was true . I should be sitting behind a desk in a prestigous office block , charging clients $2000 a hour and as you put it not messing around in a greasy , dirty garage . I realized on my walk the reason i am not is i am afraid i will fail . So as soon as i got back i went to the medical center and offered to do a lot more extra hours , hoping it will push me into setting up my own practice . Then maybe i will be able to buy a house like this .
I am sorry for the way i treated you and Paige for most of the last three years we worked together . In many ways i was the main reason Scorpion broke up . Had i done my job correctly i would have given better advice to everyone and not giving conflicting and confusing information to people . "
Walter had listened intently to what Toby was saying . He waited for thirty seconds before answering Toby .
" Yesterday Paige received a letter i posted at LAX on the day i left for Ireland . After she had read it she told me if she had received it when she should have , she would have been on the first plane available . She pointed out that so much had gone on the last month we were together , that included the night they returned from Hawaii . I had intended to to ask Paige to marry me , but she went home with Ralph , because he had his. heart broken by Patty . I was then going to ask her when we came back from Africa , i don't have to remind you what happened .
However i explained the two year break was in many respect a good thing . If i had still been with Scorpion all the pressures i was under could well have broken us up . Plus she would not have won the lottery and be able to live in a house like this . I am also sure you would not have changed and would still be dripping poison in our ears . However you are obviously trying to change so i am prepared to wait to see how you improve . So i will shake your hand for now . "
" Thank you Walter and also i would like to say i appreciate what you have done for Happy , getting her the contract with Richard . " replied Toby .
" " It was Happy's own abilities that got her the contract . "
" I am sure it was , but you called her in to help solve the problem . " Toby replied .
" But if she could not have solved the problem , Richard would not have given her a contract ." " Walter explained .
" Well i will still say thank you . " Toby told Walter .
" Lets go back and join the others . " Suggested Walter .
While Walter and Toby were on the porch , Happy had been trying to find as much information out about Aneli as she could . Aneli gave her a much shorter version of her life story than she told Paige , who Aneli was now begining to look upon as a big sister .
Paige had opened a bottle of her favourite Californian red wine , a few years ago she would have just chosen the cheapest bottle in the store . The wine was for her ,Happy , Toby and Aneli if she wanted any . She had also put a jug of water on the table for Walter and Ralph .
Soon after Walter and Toby returned to the others , there was a knock on the door Paige opened the door and took the take out food off the delivery driver , She carried all the bags of food to the dining table , Aneli came to help her put all the containers on the table .
" Lot of food . " Aneli said to Paige .
" With Toby and Ralph around not much will be left . "
" Aneli got close to Paige and whispered in her ear . " You choose some food for me , no know what is on table . "
" Of course , i will give you a plate with a little of different dishes to see which you like the best . " Paige explained .
" Thank you . "
Paige called everyone to the table and told them to help themselves . She poured the wine , including one for Aneli .
Once Aneli had tasted the food , she realized she liked this style of food ,once she had finished eating the food Paige had given her she went and filled her plate again .
Not much conversation went on during the meal everyone was content to just enjoy the fun . Once everyone felt they had eaten enough Chinese food , mainly because there were only a few scraps left in the containers . Paige and Aneli went into the kitchen to cut Aneli Garash into six pieces . While they were doing this Walter and Ralph collected all the plates and containers and put them on the end of the table .
Aneli came out of the kitchen carrying the plate with the Garash pieces on , followed by Paige carrying six side plates and six cake forks . Aneli put a piece of cake on to a side plate and Paige passed them out . Everyone finished their cake .
Ralph was the first to speak . " That was the best chocolate cake i have ever had . " The proof was the cake still around his mouth .
Everyone else agreed and Paige asked Aneli for the receipe and maybe make another one while she watched . The smile on Aneli's face showed how much she appreciated the praise .
Walter and Ralph removed all the crockery and utensils from the table and put them all into the dish washer . All the containers , Ralph collected in a black bin liner ready for the garbage collection . Paige collected the tablecloth and put it in the laundry basket . Happy and Toby were content to sit on the sofa .
Once everything was tided away Paige made coffee and everyone sat around for the next couple of hours . Happy filled Aneli in all about Ada and again thanked her for coming from her own country to help Ada .
As the evening progressed Toby became more vocal , in fact to the point were Happy gave him a glare that made him quieter .
Around 10.00pm Happy and Toby said goodnight and left , but not before Paige had handed Happy the envelpoe containing the paperwork for the hoist . Ralph and Aneli , both made their way to their rooms .
Paige cleaned away the coffee cups and took them into the kitchen . Walter stayed on the sofa and as Paige returned , he called her over and pulled her down to him and gave her a kiss .
" Do you want to finish this off in the bedroom ? " He asked with a wicked grin on his face .
Paige looked him straight in the eye , before saying . " Yes please . "
