Chapter Ten: Chunin Exams (1)
"I, Nidaime Kuraikage, welcome you to Chikyugakure. Now, what is it you wished to talk about?"
Jiraiya was at a loss for words. Naruto really was this village's Kage. It wasn't a weird dream, it wasn't a misunderstanding of that guard's words. It really was reality.
Tsunade blinked a few times seeing her godson sitting in the robes of a Kage, eyeing him nervously as she was getting a rough understanding of how powerful he really was.
Yuna was smiling brightly at her brother, proud of him for becoming a Kage of this village. However, the somber realization that this meant he wouldn't be returning home came crashing into her thoughts.
"Well," Jiraiya said softly, still trying to comprehend it all. "We came here to seek your forgiveness on behalf of not just the Leaf, but for your family. Yuna, Tsunade and myself along with your mother Kushina and your baby brother Shoto had nothing to do with what your father said to you that day."
Naruto thought about this for a moment, while Jin looked at the man speaking and spoke her peace. "Lord Second is my son, i'll thank you for remembering that. It was I who raised him when Lord Shinigami gave him to us."
Tsunade glared at the woman, not a single trace of amusement on her features. "Excuse me, did you give birth to Naruto? Did you carry him for all those months? Had to deal with the pains and aches of it all? The flurry of emotions? I think not, your Lord Shinigami unjustly took Naruto from his birth parents, I would thank you to remember that."
Jin glared back at Tsunade, the others in the chambers deciding not to get into the middle of this while Naruto was only watching as he thought. He knew this would happen eventually. "Oh I'm sorry, remind me how Naruto ended up being taken by Lord Shinigami? Oh yes, his father planned on sealing the Demon Fox into him as a newborn baby. Real quality parents let that happen, for sure!"
"It was for the good of the village!"
"But not for the good of a baby who had no choice in the matter!"
"Enough!"
Everyone turned and looked at Naruto, who had his hand on his chin as he looked at the two bickering women. "I have come to accept what had happened that night. Mom is right, Minato chose the village over his own son and daughter. His intentions mean little in the end, as our reports told me everything I need to know about how Jinchurikis are treated in the Elemental Nations. They are seen as weapons, not people. However, I can't ignore the fact that Yuna is happy in the Leaf, telling me that Minato did everything he could to make sure she wasn't shunned for what she houses."
Both Tsunade and Jin bit their lips, a bit annoyed neither could get the boy on their sides, but his reasoning is sound. He turned his gaze to Jin. "Lady Tuyin, I will ask you to refrain from such outbursts. You taught me that composure under anger and stress is key for a leader."
He then turned his gaze to Tsunade. "As for you, I would ask you not to antagonize my council. You are a guest in my village, and have no right to question who a mother is. Your own words would damn any woman that ever adopted a child."
Both girls looked down, mumbling apologies for what they said. Naruto sighed, looking at Yuna. "Sister, why are you here? I think it's clear I will not come home to the Hidden Leaf. My home is here, where my people need me most."
Yuna sighed back, nodding her head. "I understand that Naruto, I just hoped…I did hope I could bring you back home. Mother misses you, she hates knowing she may have lost her chance to know you. I am too. We just got you back, and don't want to lose you."
Naruto nodded when she finished, taping the cane in hand against the ground and thinking for a moment. "Well, it is a good thing I have decided to try and bond with you. All of you, except for Minato. I fear until he earns my trust I can not see him as anything other than a fellow Kage."
Jiraiya moved to speak up next. "Excuse me, but how would that be possible? You are the Kuraikage of Chikyugakure. Your place is here, no?"
Naruto chuckled, looking at the council. Madoka and Genki smiled, nodding their heads while Jin meekly did the same. Still ashamed of her outburst. "Typically yes, but I have decided that the Kuraikage will be only a figure to lead in times of war. Outside of that, I will be acting as the village's ambassador. I will travel the nations to establish good ties towards one another, and to grow as a ninja. While I am away on my travels, the Clan Council has agreed to watch over the village and its affairs. If something important needs my attention, then I will return home and deal with it."
"Wait, so even though you're the kage, you'll still let the council make the choices of the village?"
Naruto nodded to Jiraiya. "Basically, yes. I am too green in all of this, I don't know anything of the outside world and need to learn more before I truly sit as the Kuraikage. So for now I hold the title and all its perks, but not most of its responsibilities. In time I will fully take the mantle and all its pros and cons, but I have more important things to decide and figure out."
Tsunade was next to speak up. "More important things?"
Naruto smiled, chuckling to himself before scratching his cheek. "Well, yes. For starters, I need to establish my clan."
This caught the attention of all three visitors, who now looked at Naruto confused. He chuckled and raised his hands up to give him a chance to explain. "It's actually really simple. I am making my own clan. Since my bloodline is unique and like no other I hope to make my clan the Fifth of Chikyugakure. They will be the custodians, guardians, and protectors of this village. Not to mention, my clan would make things easier to vote on for the Council since there would be no ties when it comes to decisions."
"Does that mean you are taking on the CRA program to start your clan?"
"Yes. Actually, I was hoping to ask the Leaf for help with that."
Now Yuna was even more confused. She knew what the CRA was, and thought she understood its need; she didn't like the idea of several women being essential baby makers for a single man. She didn't think there could ever be love in such an arrangement. "Okay, but how could the Leaf help you with that? Do you want to ask us to give you some choices of the women in our village?"
Naruto waved his hands frantically, shaking his head to shoot down that idea. "No! Nothing like that! See, I have a plan with the Chunin Exams. All Elemental Nations' villages participate, right?"
Yuna nodded, still looking lost. Naruto sighed, slumping back in his chair. "Again, it's simple. I will participate as a one man squad in the Chunin Exams, where I will exhibit my clan's skills and my village's prowess to the world. In doing so, in theory, several if not all villages will be sending engagement proposals for my hand. Understand where I'm going with this?"
Yuna was still lost, but both Jiraiya and Tsuande understood. He was looking for political marriages. "So that's your game? You strengthen Chikyugakure's standing by marrying women from across the elemental nations? A smart strategy, but it only makes me sick to think a son of Kushina and Minato would care so little for women to use them as political pawns."
Naruto rolled his eyes, deciding to end the conversation. There was far more to his plans than just that, and he was far from a womanizer. He intended to know every single girl that he thought he'd like. He'd know their likes, dislikes, their dreams, and their goals. He cleared his throat, getting everyone's attention and snapping Yuna out of her confused thoughts. She really was a bit dense it seemed.
"Anyways, I am willing to make amends with my family, in fact I'd love nothing more. But I ask you all to do me a favor and accept my village's request to send me as our soul genin team. I also ask you to keep my title and rank of my village out of the paperwork so that I don't have to worry about any unwanted issues that could arise."
"Issues like what, brother?"
"Issues like assassins sent by other villages to end a new village's chance of survival. Or trying to kidnap me to use me as ransom and bankrupt the village. There are multiple other scenarios that could happen if it came out that the Kuraikage was truly a genin taking the Chunin Exams."
Yuna seemed to understand that more than the nonsense of the CRA plan her brother spoke of before. The Council nodded and agreed with Naruto's plan. They then looked to the others, waiting for their response.
Jiraiya smiled, nodding as he stood up. "I see no issue with this request. Though I do hope you give me the chance soon to know more about you. After all, me and Tsunade here were the godparents your mother and father chose. I think it's part of the job to know who my godson is."
Tsunade stood up, standing next to Jiraiya who wrapped his arm around her waist snuggly. "Indeed, and I am sorry about my outburst before. I hope you can forgive me and give me the chance to get to know you."
Yuna was the last to stand up, smiling at her twin brother and nodded. "Yeah! I think it will be awesome! I really want to see how you fight! Especially if you really are the Shinigami's Chosen! Plus, being a Kage, you must have some serious power behind your attacks right?"
Naruto chuckled, nodding and getting out of his chair to stand with them. He opened his arms, letting them all come in for a big hug. "All is forgiven, Tsunade. As long as you forgive Jin of course. And I look forward to getting to know all of you."
After a few moments he pulled away, reaching into one of the pouches on the inside of his robes and handed them the official letter to request permission to join this year's Chunin Exams. Jiraiya took the parchment in hand and tucked it away into one of his many pouches.
The group talked some more til the Council ended this meeting, leaving Naruto alone with his godparents and sister to talk about anything they'd wish. They planned on staying in the village for the night, and leaving in the morning.
~~Shinobi Academy - Konohagakure two weeks later~~
Naruto jumped out of a shadow from the tree outside the Leaf's Shinobi Academy, looking at the lonesome swing that sat unused for what seemed like a good amount of time. He didn't know why, but the swing seemed important to someone in some way. He shrugged, playfully pushing one of the robes holding up the wooden slab and letting it swing about as he made his way into the academy.
Today was the day that he finally revealed the power of not only his bloodline, but that of the power of Chikyugakre. He had come to the building rather early, where a few genin of various other villages were making their way towards the destined testing room for the first phase. He looked down the hall seeing a few genin giving the others some issues entering the room. Naruto looked at the room number, seeing it to be the right one that was given to the examinees, but looked to the stairwell and saw he was only on the second floor. The exam room was on the third. Shrugging, he walked past the group, not paying attention to the snickers others were giving him for what seemed like giving up on the exam. If only they realized they were falling for a rather simple genjutsu.
He made his way up the stairs, getting on the third floor and seeing the exact same room number hanging over a door and snickered. He knew that he was right, he just felt a little bad for not letting the others downstairs know the trickery. However, he thought it made sense to let them stay down there. If they couldn't understand the simple instructions to go to the third floor instead of just the room number, they don't deserve to even attempt this exam. Let alone fail to realize the weak genjutsu that was being used.
He opened the door, seeing that the room was completely empty. He looked to the clock on the wall, seeing that he had come in exactly an hour earlier than needed. He shrugged his shoulders, moving to take a seat in the back corner of the rows of seats in the room. He brought his legs up, letting them rest on the desk while he leaned back in the chair with his arms crossed behind his neck. He was actually thankful for the time to think and plan on what to do from now.
If his snooping has proved anything, he knew the instructor of this phase of the exam. Apparently it was the Leaf's head of T&I Department, Ibiki Morino. Though that was useful enough, he still knew very little about this man or what sort of test he would be preparing for the exam. He knew that it was rumored to be a standardized test of sorts, but if there is one thing he learned in his short career of being a shinobi, it's that nothing is what it seems.
Choosing not to let the thoughts of what was to come cloud his mind, he took a deep breath and tried to think about what he could be facing throughout this entire exam. He was the only candidate of his village, a village barely known outside the Land of Waves and the Land of Fire. Meaning, he could be seen as either a passover for this exam or a target. If he was a passover, he could easily use the lack of attention to himself to surprise and out maneuver the others later on in the exam. If he was seen as a target, he would be forced to reveal the cards up his sleeve sooner than when he'd want. He mentally sighed, hoping it would be the first scenario over the second.
Then the thoughts of what he could be fighting sank into his mind. He knew most of the traditional styles of jutsus used by the Hidden Mist after working alongside them for so long. So facing genin from that village wouldn't be an overall difficult situation for himself. However, the other villages he knew very little about. He also had no idea which villages were sending their prospects to this year's exams. In all, he was vastly short on information for the potential threats that would no doubt be coming his way.
However, the same could be said for himself as well. No one, not even the Hidden Mist, knew all of his tricks. And he made damn sure that Yuna knew just as little, he couldn't afford her knowing his tricks and let her have an advantage over himself. The only major worry he needed to think about is the one weakness his style of combat had: He was vastly weak against ninjutsu. Sure, he had the Null Void to use when he faced heavy ninjutsu users, but that could only work so much. The technique consumed a constant stream of his chakra in order to maintain, meaning if the opponent could figure out its weakness they could easily just wait for him to drain his chakra reserves. Then there was the fact that his ninjutsu was very limited in itself. The only real ninjutsu he could use was solely from the Shinigami Arts. Death Chakra ninjutsu was very weak in itself, which balanced out with the fact it was deadly powerful when using it with taijutsu and kenjutsu. Spirit Chakra could be used for some powerful ninjutsu, but in order to do so would mean he'd have to be able to concentrate on his opponent's soul in mid combat. And if he was not a good league faster than the opponent, the chances of him being able to have enough time to keep focus on their soul was near zero. Finally, his Dojutsu was practically useless in combat. Makoda herself said that it could be used to help see the souls of those around him, but that required a great deal of training. She admitted it took most Yantoro Clan members well into their early twenties to perfect the method. Which meant that it would be awhile before Naruto could do it.
Then of course there was the Fourth Gift: Life Essence Manipulation. He has been trying for nearly eight years to harness it, doing every single method to hone and unlock the Kekkei Genkai that was at his disposal but it never seemed to make it come out. At this point Naruto truly believed that Lord Shinigami didn't bestow his blood the Fourth Gift.
While he was lost in his thoughts the doors opened and more people walked in. The first was a boy wearing what looked like a black jumpsuit with cat ears on his head. He wore face paint, showing his face with a smirk while a large, weird looking item was wrapped in ribbons on his back. Beside him was a rather beautiful kunoichi, her blonde hair done up in a strange style of four pigtails that helped reveal the stunning features of her face. She wore what looked like light purple garment that hangs off the shoulders, revealing the fishnet fabric underneath the clothing and the forehead protector around her neck. The garment went down to mid thigh, where most of the fishnet fabric could be seen passing the garment by a few inches. All in all, she looked like a true beauty. Even though the large, collapsed fan on her back had to be a killer on her spine.
Finally, the final person walked in behind them. He was shorter than both of them, black bags under his eyes and spiky auburn hair adorning his head. At the left of his forehead, where his hair seemed to part, was the kanji for "love" etched into his skin. He wore a black bodysuit with an open neck with t-shirt like sleeves and nearly full length leggings that matched his upper half. On top of this he wore a silky white sash over his white shoulder and looping around his left hip, while his left shoulder carried a thick leather strap that wrapped over his right hip where it held a thick, brown gourd. On the leather strap held his forehead protector.
All three of them seemed powerful in their own right, but when Naruto felt the shorted genin enter the room he was instantly on edge. He kept himself leaning back on the chair, keeping his composure though he found himself looking at the girl as she took her seat alongside what he assumed was her team in the middle of desks.
It wasn't long till more people started coming into the room, and soon enough it was nearly full. Naruto looked up at the clock, seeing it was roughly thirty minutes til this part of the Chunin Exams would start, and his sister and her team were still nowhere to be seen. With a grunt he was about to get up from his seat and Shadow Flicker to her, but was stopped when a boy smelling heavily of dog walked up to him.
Naruto turned to the boy, and instantly had a feeling that this genin was an arrogant one based solely on the cocky smirk across his face. He wore a gray, zipped up black furred coat, gray pants, and calf-high sandals. All in all, Naruto wasn't too impressed with the guy, and the genin could sense that.
"Hey, loser." He snarled out towards Naruto, making the others in the room look at the bit of excitement. "Get out of that seat, I need it."
Naruto looked around, seeing plenty of open seats left before looking back at the guy. "Uhm, not sure if you're blind or something, but there are plenty of seats still open to be taken."
"Yeah, I see that smartass!"
"Then why do you need my seat specifically?"
"Because if you haven't noticed, everyone is sitting in groups of three, and your sitting at the last spot in this room that can let me sit with my own team."
Naruto looked around, indeed seeing that most of the open seats left were either in pairs or by themselves. He turned back to the boy, but instead of just letting him have it he decided to keep his ground. He needed to show some backbone.
"Sorry, but I was literally the first person here in the room, and got my seat because I was smart and came here early. It is not my fault that you and your team failed to think ahead."
He leaned back at the two standing behind the boy, smiling and waving at them. There was a girl and a boy. The girl had eyes that Naruto had never seen before, seeming to be pupilless and wearing a heavy white coat over her body. The boy standing beside her wore a zipped up trench coat that covered the bottom half of his face and wore black sunglasses, giving him a mysterious look.
"I mean no offense to you two, you two seem well mannered compared to this guy."
The boy nodded, acknowledging that Naruto had no ill will to them specifically while the girl blushed a bit seeing the handsome boy that spoke to her. The genin that asked him to move now growled slowly at Naruto.
"Listen here you little punk, move or i'll make you move!"
Naruto returned his eyes back to the boy, smirking a bit when he saw the head of a puppy pop out of his hood and bark at him. "Listen, I'm not listening. I am happy to have the other two of your team sit beside me, they seem kind enough. But for you, I won't move. And I would advise you not to lay a hand on me, you would regret it."
"Is that a threat?!"
The Chikyugakure shinobi sighed, shaking his head before looking back at the boy yelling at him. "I don't make threats. I follow through with my words. So again, I would advise you not to touch me."
The temper of the assault genin was now at its boiling point as he reached to grab Naruto's shoulder. But, as soon as his fingers touched Naruto, he saw black chakra erupt and touch against his fingers. The boy pulled back his hand, holding it by it's wrist as he felt intense pain now throbbing in his fingers. His teammates when to his side, looking down and eyes widened seeing that his fingers looked like they were shirveled and dried out of blood. The three of them looked at Naruto, who sighed and stood up and looked at the boy who dared to touch him.
"Listen, I can repair the damage easily enough, but you will accept that I will not move for you. I don't like arrogant people, and I care little for your team. Because in the end of this all, only a handful of us will be promoted to Chunin, and the chances of your whole team getting that title in one year are slim to none."
The man bit back a cocky comment as the girl's hand slapped over his face and stopped him from talking. She looked at Naruto with pleading eyes. "Please, I apologize for his actions sir. Please fix his hand."
Naruto let out another annoyed sigh before reaching out for the boy's hand. He gently touched his finger tips against his, and the black chakra that had entered Kiba's body was being pulled back into Naruto's own. When the Death Chakra returned and left the boy's hand, his fingers instantly felt the flow of blood returning, the state of decay that they were on the verge of entering reverted til his hand looked normal again.
With that finished Naruto turned back and was about to sit down in his chair, looking to the group who walked away to see if they could find another way to sit together. All of this caused a bit of curiosity with the other participants, and its then that Naruto silently cursed himself. He let his annoyance slip one of his Gifts out to be seen by the others. That was one less trick in his sleeves. He looked around, seeing a few genin looking at him, either in fear, wonder, or excitement. He didn't like the attention, though seeing the girl from earlier looking at him in wonder did make him think that little stunt would be worth it in the end.
After ten more minutes he finally felt his sister's presence and soon enough she and her teammates entered the room. She was quick to see him sitting in the corner, two seats open beside him as he smiled at her. "What's up sis?"
Yuna went to Naruto, who stood up and was about to give her a hug before the boy from earlier yelled at her. "Yuna! Don't touch that guy! He has some sort of freaky jutsu!"
Yuna turned to the said yelling boy, rolling her eyes. "Kiba, I've hugged Naruto several times now. Why wouldn't I again?"
The name that left Yuna's mouth made several people look at the boy with more than fear. Several who heard of the legendary boy that fought in the Mist Civil War looked at Naruto in utter shock. The others that looked at Naruto were the Konoha Eleven, whose eyes went wide. They thought Yuna was lying about her long lost brother, but seeing her call him that name made them quickly realize that he was real.
Naruto sighed, giving Yuna a quick hug before pulling away and sitting down at the desk again. "Sis, I thought I asked you to keep quiet about my name during this exam?"
Yuna blushed, looking away in embarrassment as she sat down beside him. "Sorry, I forgot. I just got excited that you actually showed up."
He chuckled, looking at her as she chose to sit with him, and her teammates going to a pair of seats a few rows ahead. "Something happened with your team?"
Yuna sighed, leaning back against her chair as she saw her teammates sit down. "You could say that. Sasuke and I got into it. That bushy brow kid over there sitting in the front was egging him on to fight. Something about hard work beating prodigies. I told him that it was more important to get to the exam room than proving a point and he decided to be the usual self righteous emo with a chip on his shoulder."
He snickered at the last part of her rant, but sighed as he put a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it. Worse comes to worse i'll have your back in this. Well, until we have to fight each other. At that point I'll have to show you who's the stronger sibling."
Yuna smirked at her brother, rolling her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. You have your Gifts and all that, but you don't have hope against my fox."
The two looked at each other, glints of determination in both their eyes before they heard a conversation happening that caught both their attention. A genin wearing glasses and his hair pulled back into a ponytail was talking to a few genin of the Leaf. Sasuke was talking to him directly at this moment.
"Alright, what information do you have on one Naruto Shingami?"
The guy nodded, looking through his cards in hand before pulling one out and reading it out for Sasuke. "Naruto Shingami. There is no known record of him completing missions of any rank, but that could be for the fact his village is now just entering the shinobi world. However, his taijutsu, kenjutsu, and genjutsu is said to be low to high jounin. His ninjutsu, however, is said to be in low to medium chunin level. His most noteworthy feats are his actions to end the Bloody Mist Civil War, where he was able to take on hundreds of the enemy shinobi and apparently resurrect those who died in combat."
This got everyone looking at Naruto again, sighing heavily. In the long run, he should have known that his deeds in the Land of Water would have spread to other nations by now.
The man cleared his throat and continued. "Though it is only an unproven rumor, it is said that he was able to seal the three tailed turtle when it was able to take control of its host. Though again, that is an unproven rumor that no one can seem to confirm."
Now this got Naruto's attention. Ao, Mei, and Chojuro worked hard on keeping that fact hidden. Even going so far to have many of their forces that saw that happen willing undergo a special sealing that locked that memory away. So for this random Leaf genin to know this made Naruto become suspicious of him. However, that glare that was sent towards the genin ended rather quickly when in a poof of smoke the proctor of their exam appeared.
Ibiki stood at the front of the room, his trademark black trench coat covering over the darker version of his department's standard attire. He cleared his throat, explaining for everyone the rules of this test. If you got caught cheating, then you lost points. Get caught enough times, you were removed from the exam. Then there would be a tenth and final question at the end of the exam.
With that knowledge given out, the test began. Naruto sighed softly, leaning his chair back before pulling his beanie over his eyes and gave off the appearance that he wasn't even trying to take this test seriously. Though in reality he activated the Desuaizu, peering into the Pure World and sought out the answers from various fallen shinobi he had encountered in his visits into the Pure World with his Dojutsu. Aften fifteen minutes of conversing with the souls of the fallen he returned back to his normal sight, letting the chair fall back down and took the beanie out of his eyes and started writing the answers at a rapid pace. Each one was advanced for a genin's skill level, but he had a feeling he knew the purpose of this test. Ibiki wanted to test the information gathering skills of the genin, and see if they could get the information without being caught. Sadly for the T&I commander, Naruto didn't need to use that sort of thing for this sort of test.
He sneakily looked to his sister sitting beside him, trying to gauge where she was at with the questions. When he snuck a peek at her test, he saw she had a few questions filled out already. He didn't see her trying to make any movements or attempts of cheating, but instead he'd witness her blank stares in between writing questions. Naruto had a feeling that she was communicating with Kyuubi, who in turn was giving her the answers.
He smiled at his sister, feeling some pride in himself knowing she was able to get around the true test of this part of the exam. He went to turn his eyes away, but every so often he couldn't help but look at her a bit longer than he should be. He couldn't help silently admiring how she was developing into her body, or the softness her lips seemed to have. He even enjoyed the scrunching of her nose when she got frustrated with either the Kyuubi or the test. He shook his head, trying to stop himself from thinking that way towards her. He took a deep breath, deciding to lean back in his chair and, using his Dojutsu, peered back into the Pure World.
~~Within the Pure World~~
When Naruto opened his eyes again he smiled at where he ended up. He looked around to see the simple village around him bustling with movement as the people were working their typical tasks. He walked down the street, nodding and greeting those that acknowledged him before he made his way to a relatively new house at the edge of town. He knocked on the door, waiting for a few moments, before it opened and revealed the familiar old man.
"Heh, why hello my boy. Need some more help on that test of yours?"
Kisho smiled at Naruto, who in turn didn't hesitate to reach out and give him a big hug before pulling away. "Thank you for the help, old man. Thanks to you I am pretty sure I passed the test without having to use the cheating method the proctor wanted me to do."
The older man chuckled, patting the boy on his shoulder before allowing him to come into his home. For the rest of the time the exam was taking, Naruto decided to stay and talk with his mentor in the Pure World.
~~Mortal World thirty minutes later~~
Naruto was shaken out of his gaze into the Pure World by Yuna, who was trying to wake him up before Ibiki started the final question. He pulled the beanie off his eyes once again, blinking a few times to get used to the artificial lights in the room. He looked to the front of the room, seeing Ibiki clearing his throat. She had woken him up just in time.
"Now, this final question is vitally more important than the ones on the test itself. And it is more important because if you fail it, you are barred from attempting the chunin exam if you fail to answer properly. In addition, if one on your team fails to give the correct answer, your entire team shares the failure."
The girl from earlier, with the large fan on her back, spoke up at this. "What do you mean! Are you telling us that we can't become Chunin if we don't answer this question right?"
Ibiki nodded his head, looking at the girl then to the rest of the room. "You can tempt fate, and take the question…or you can opt to leave now and accept this year's exam as a failure. If you do, you will be able to come back next year for another attempt. The choice is yours. You have five minutes to choose."
Easily enough roughly three teams walked out. Ibiki sighed internally, hoping more would have walked out in this situation. After the five minutes were up, he explained that this was the final question. He went on about the importance of putting the mission over your own safety, and that sticking together makes things work a lot better in the field. In the end, Naruto mentally thanked himself for being a one man team. If he had others with him, he may have actually been worried.
Before Ibiki could go on, two kunai sailed through the window and struck into the wall, revealing a banner unraveling from the bladed' weapons that read. "The Incredibly Sexy and Single Anko Mitarashi!"
Under the banner came a woman wearing a heavy tan trench coat that covered the metal mesh outfit underneath. She wore a dark orange mini skirt and pale gray shin guards. All in all, her outfit left little to anyone's imagination. This caught Naruto's eyes and made him internally hold back the idea of introducing himself to the clearly single woman if her banner was anything to go by.
She chuckled seeing the reactions of the genin before her, but did notice the rather needy look coming from one Naruto Shingami in the back of the room. She took that look for later use of teasing the boy. She cleared her throat before she spoke up.
"Alright, listen up little gakis, I will be the proctor for the next phase of the Exams. In one hour I will have you meet at the forty fourth training ground where the exam will take place. Look forward to seeing you all there!"
And with that, as fast she had come into the room, she left just as quickly. The class was left there a bit stunned. Several of the boys had nose bleeds seeing the revealing outfit she wore, most of the girls a bit red in the cheeks out of jealousy of her body or the clear confidence she had in herself to wear such things. Yuna turned to Naruto, seeing a smirk on his face when she left. She huffed, kicking him in the shin under the desk before standing up and walking out of the room in a little fit of annoyance. When she left the room, she sighed and looked back towards the door.
"Why did that bother me so much?"
~~Training Ground Forty Four: Forest of Death- Konohagakure~~
Twenty minutes later Naruto stood before a large, fenced in forest in the middle of a large field on the outside of Konoha. He took in a deep breath, smirking as he could smell the dangerous game within the confines of the chain link fences. He honestly looked forward to this now, the sensation of the forest similar to the Below of his own village. He had ventured down there a few times, finding the thrill of beasts stronger than himself hunting him a rush and a good way to practice his hiding skills. However, he had a feeling this place wouldn't be as dangerous as the Below.
He had some here early once again, seeing a few others that had the same idea. In particular, he saw the team with that pigtail girl and the potential threat of a team mate. She was currently talking to one of her teammates, the one with the black bodysuit and face paint. He wanted to go over there and perhaps talk with her, but he had a feeling that it wouldn't be a good idea at the moment.
The lone genin let out a sigh, turning back to the forest only to be met with Anko standing in front of him. Though she was a few years older, he was about an inch or two taller than her. She looked him over, noticing that he was lacking proper armor for a genin or any sort of gear in general. He wore nothing more than a white trench coat with his village's crest on its back along with four others surrounding it. His legs were covered with black ANBU leggings, short ninja sandals covering his feet, and a plain black t-shirt underneath his trench coat. His head was also covered with a red beanie, hiding his hair completely and letting his stunning blue eyes be the only really defining feature to be seen on him.
She snickered, moving in a bit closer. "So gaki, I saw you looking me over earlier."
Naruto smirked, shrugging his shoulders as he didn't stop her from advancing on him. "And? Can't a man look at something so stunning?"
This made Anko smirk, though the compliment felt nice. She rarely got such things. It was only her being sexy, hot, or something along those lines. Never anything as sweet as stunning. "Well, I can't say I don't like what I see either. Tell me, what village are you from?"
"I am from Chikyugakre. The Village Hidden in the Earth."
This only made her smirk deepen, licking her lips as she pulled a kunai out of her pocket and swirling it in her hand. "I see. So you're that solo genin that I've heard about. I have to admit, it's either very ballsy or stupid to take the Chunin Exams by yourself. Don't you have a team?"
He shook his head, keeping a friendly smile on his lips as they talked. "Nope. Technically I am the first genin of my village. We haven't really observed the Elemental Nation's need for ranking out ninja. Though with us coming into the world stage, we thought it a good idea to start adopting the ranking system of the other villages."
The two kept talking for the rest of the time before she needed to get everything going for her portion of the exam. The two flirted back and forth while they talked about his village and herself. He truly had some interest in her, finding her unique among the women he had met in the village. However, all good things must come to an end as she saw the group of genin now waiting for her. Before she moved to leave, she leaned into him and brought her lips to his ear.
"Now, I better see you at the end of this. I'd love to talk some more…gaki."
He smirked, nodding his head before letting her go.
When everyone got rounded up she went on about the task of this phase of the exam. It was relatively straight forward, you got one scroll while others had another. You need both a Heaven and Earth Scroll to proceed into the next part of the exam. Again, it was pretty simple, and after signing some paperwork stating that the Hidden Leaf is not responsible for deaths that may occur the teams started heading towards their given gate numbers. However, before he went on his own, he saw Yuna and her team talking as they walked. As they walked, he noticed an odd looking woman from another village eyeing his sister's team. He needed to keep an eye out for that person while in the Forest of Death. He had a bad feeling about her just like the bad feeling he got with that auburn haired boy with the gourd on his back.
