Sam sighed, running his hand through his hair. "Find anything?"
Blaine sighed. "Maybe. There is a car that came by earlier and pulled back out. I am only up to seven, and I didn't want to fast forward to the storm and miss something."
Sam nodded. "I am gonna grab the board and finish boarding everything up."
Blaine sighed. "Sam, I still don't like what she did to you, but…I do think she's sincere in wanting to be better."
"I do too. Maybe we needed this time apart, and perhaps we didn't, but all I know is that we should at least try with both of us still feeling the way we do.
Blaine nodded. "But if she even thinks of hurting you, all bets are off."
Sam laughed. "Agreed." He stood, walking into the kitchen. "Where did Mercedes go?"
"Oh, uh, I don't know. Is that the board for the door?"
Sam nodded. "Here, line it up; I am gonna go check on Merce, make sure she's okay."
"Sam, she's in a house with the three of us; she's okay." Puck said.
"Still." Sam handed him the board, and Puck took it, frowning as Sam walked out of the room. He walked towards the room, but Blaine frowned.
"What the hell?"
Puck stopped. "What's wrong?"
Blaine looked at the screen. "Tina busted the window and the back door."
"What are you talking about?"
Blaine continued to look at the screen; because Dwight had put the cameras up, he assumed Tina didn't know there was a camera in the tree right in the back of the house. He gasped, shaking his head. "Puck, what did you do?" He said through gritted teeth.
"Mercedes isn't here!" Sam said, running out of the room.
Puck looked at Blaine pleading. "Don't. Don't."
"Where is she?! WHERE THE FUCK IS SHE?!" Sam screamed, looking between the two.
Blaine shook his head. "Sam…grab Puck! Don't let him leave!"
Sam grew confused, he could see something was happening, but he wasn't sure what. Looking back to Puck, he noticed the man trying to leave, and Sam grabbed him by his collar, slamming him against the wall.
"Wanna tell me why I am grabbing one of my closest friends?"
Blaine lifted the laptop and brought it to Sam, showing Tina in the rain busting in the door and throwing the branch through the window. Then it showed Puck on camera carrying Mercedes to a car. His grip tightened when he saw Tina get out of the vehicle. Even in the dark, he knew her car, knew her.
Sam looked at Puck; he looked terrified. He and Sam may have been close to the same build, but he could never win a fight against Sam.
Blaine sent a text to Dwight as Puck struggled in Sam's arms.
"WHAT! DID! YOU! DO!" Sam said, slamming him against the wall.
"Sam! Sam, just wait. We were just.." Puck pleaded.
Sam gripped him tighter. "Just what!? Where is she!"
Puck looked at him and then at Blaine and back to Sam. "She won't be hurt. He just wanted to talk to her."
"What are you talking about?" Blaine asked.
Sam slammed him against the wall hard. "I would answer the man before I lose my patience." He growled.
"Tina looked into Mayfield like you asked, and she found out that he offered Mercedes a job."
"Tell me something I don't! KNOW!" He said, slamming him again.
Puck yelped out in pain. "Tina reached out just curious if Mercedes took the offer behind your back! And when she learned that Mayfield just wanted to talk to her, we decided we could kill three birds. He talks to Mercedes; we get her away from you and…."
"And what?" Blaine questioned.
"And he gives us a hundred thousand."
Sam reared his hand back and punched Puck in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. Jumping on top of him, Sam swung left and right at Puck over and over angrily.
Blaine watched for a moment knowing Puck was owed a few good punches, before reaching down and trying to pull Sam off of him.
Dwight rushed into the house and ran to Sam, helping Blaine pull Sam off Puck.
"Sam, calm down!"
"He set her up! Sent her right into that bastard's arms!" Sam yelled, trying to go back and hit him again.
Puck looked up at Sam, nose and lip busted with blood pouring out, his eye already starting to close. "He won't hurt her! He's gonna have her work for him far away from you!"
"You are an idiot if you believe that!" Sam spat. "Blaine cuff him and let him wait for the police. I need to get a tracker on Tina's car, and if I stay here any longer, I am gonna kill him." Sam said.
"You really gonna let her come between us! You beat my ass, fine! I probably deserved that. But having me arrested is petty." Puck yelled, spitting out blood, and Sam turned towards him with a deadly icy glare.
"Even if I didn't love her. Didn't want her. Who gives you and Tina the right to choose one person's life over the next. We were supposed to protect her!" Sam shook his head. "I was supposed to protect her. I just didn't know I needed to protect her from the likes of you. You can rot in hell for all I care."
Sam walked out of the room, and Puck looked at Blaine. "So much for friendship." He groaned in pain as Blaine cuffed him.
"Friendship? You sent a woman to her death. If we don't find her in time…was it really all about the money? Are you really that selfish? I know she hurt Sam, man, but she's a person, she got the charges dropped when that man tried to hurt Tina, and you beat his ass. She was only a law student back then. She was there for you when your mom got sick. I know she hurt Sam, but that doesn't mean she's evil. And you just…I can't even look at you."
Sam slammed his fist into the wall, busting through the drywall, and Dwight leaned against the door frame.
"You bout done wasting time? Every minute you waste with this pity party, she is closer to death; you need to take emotions out of this and focus; we both know Mayfield is going to make an example out of her."
Sam sent off a text and sighed. "I don't know who I can trust anymore."
"You can trust me." Blaine said from behind him. "Let me call Tina and see if she can tell me where she is; at least that will give us a trace, a chance."
Sam looked at him and nodded. "Okay, let's figure this out; she doesn't have that much time."
Mercedes awoke with a headache trying to catch her bearings; when a bump jostled her, she realized she was in a car, and her memory came back. Puck chloroformed her. She went to move, but her hands were restricted.
Everything in her wanted to freak out, but it wasn't going to do her any good; if she wanted to find a way out, she had to be smart. See what they wanted first, then devise a plan. She didn't know how long they had been driving or when the car finally stopped, but when it did, a bright light shined through as the trunk was opened.
"Tina?" she mumbled with the tape over her mouth.
"Ah, you are awake; I know seeing me like this isn't ideal, but I wanted to explain before I handed you over," Tina said, sitting on the trunk. "We are broke, Puck and me; he has a bit of a gambling problem. Do you remember when we caught him in that underground casino Freshman year? It's only gotten worse. So in turning you in, I am saving Sam from falling for you, but I am also creating a better life for Puck and me; I love him."
Mercedes remembered that night, Tina ran to her, scared that Puck was gonna get killed, and she and Sam went and found him. It wasn't easy; it wasn't easy getting him out of there; she had to play a few hands of texas Holdem and kick some ass. She won back the money he had lost and bought his way out.
After that, they all took turns watching Puck to make sure he didn't slip up. They all had been through so much together, and she knew she hurt Tina when she left; it was just so hard to talk to her; every time Mercedes tried to tell her how she felt, Tina would call her crazy for even considering leaving Sam.
Coming back to reality, Mercedes stared at her former friend, shaking her head and trying to plead with her. Tina sighed, "It's no use; Mayfield's men will be here soon. Even if I wanted to let you go, I won't."
Tina's phone rang, and she sighed, answering it. "Hey Blaine, what's up?"
"Sam is freaking out; we can't find Mercedes, someone must have grabbed her, but I have no idea how!"
"You sure she didn't just run away? You and I both know she isn't reliable." She said, looking over to Mercedes.
"That's a possibility; Sam is losing it. I don't know how he could fall for her tricks yet again, and she just ups and leaves. I don't know how we are gonna get him back this time."
"We just have to show him we are there. Take his mind off of her. Trust me, in a few weeks, she won't be missed." Tina said. "What are they doing now? I tried to call Puck earlier but didn't get an answer."
"Sam and Puck are out looking for her, she didn't take the car, so unless she called someone to get her, she can't be too far."
"How much do you wanna bet she and that Mayfield guy are working together?" She said, looking at Mercedes and turning away when she saw the tears in her eyes. "We are all better off without her. Tell Sam that."
"You know I will."
Tina saw a van coming towards her. "Look, I gotta go; tell Sam I am on my way to him, and we will make sure he's okay. Make sure that he comes out of this."
"Okay. Seeya."
Tina hung up and smiled as the Van came to a stop, and a man stepped out.
"You Tina?" He asked, folding his arms across his chest.
"Depends, you Mike?"
Mike looked past her and smiled. "Hello, Counselor; looking a bit tied up." He looked back at Tina. "She hurt?"
"No. Where is my money?"
Mike smiled. "About that." He pulled out a gun. "See, Mayfield doesn't like loose ends, and you are a liability."
Tina frowned, throwing her hands up. "Please…please don't do this."
Mike shrugged. "Isn't that what she begged before you locked her in a trunk?"
Tina shook her head. "I can't…I don't… don't do this! I don't want to die… please."
BOOM!
A gunshot rang through the air, hitting Tina in the chest. She fell to the ground, and Mike wiped down the gun before taking Tina's hand and wrapping it around the handle. Standing, he looked over to Artie and Dave.
"Grab the Lawyer."
The two men nodded, reaching inside of the trunk and grabbing Mercedes, carrying her over to the Van, and putting her inside. As the doors closed, Mercedes saw Tina lying lifeless on the ground and closed her eyes, sadly mourning because even though she was betrayed, she never wanted that.
The ride in the Van wasn't as long as the one in the car, and when the doors opened, she found herself on an airstrip. Four hands grabbed her and pulled her out of the Van as she stood face-to-face with Walter Mayfield.
"Why, hello, Ms. Jones. A pleasure to see you."
Mercedes cut her eyes at him, and he frowned. "You can remove the restraints. I'm not a monster. Besides, she won't get far if she tries to run. Let's get on the plane; there is much to discuss."
Mike stood in front of her and removed the ropes before ripping the tape off of her lips, causing her to wince. "You saw how I put your so-called friend down; I will gladly do the same to you."
Mercedes rubbed her wrists. "What the hell is wrong with you? You literally just took a life. Don't you feel anything?"
Mike moved closer to her. "She wasn't the first, and she certainly won't be the last."
"You don't have to do this!" She pleaded.
Mike smiled. "I know. That's the fun of it all. I want to do this." He stepped closer to her pushing her against the SUV. "You are beautiful, intelligent, quickwitted." He ran his up her body over the swell of her breast. "I bet you taste oh so good."
Mercedes tried to move away from him. "You won't find out."
Mike smirked. "I bet I will. You and I can do some real damage. That or I can have my way with you before I kill you dead. Either way, I look forward to it."
Mercedes spit on him, and he pulled his gun out, pistol whipping her before putting it to her temple. "Now, now baby, lets not do that again; I'd hate to end you before your time." He said, using his free hand to wipe his face.
She swallowed, standing tall and staring at him; she was not going to show how scared she was. "Do what you need to, but keep your filthy hands off me."
Hearing Mayfield call them, Mike laughed and pushed her forward onto the plane. As he led her to her seat, he leaned in. "It's gonna be so much fun to break you." He kissed her right below her earlobe, causing her to pull away from him.
Mayfield cleared his throat. "Have a seat Ms. Jones; want something to drink?" She shook her head no as Mike shoved her into the chair, and he shrugged. "Suit yourself. Now let's discuss terms; I want you to represent me, and I will compensate you greatly and make sure to be the ideal client."
"No," Mercedes said firmly. "Do what you have to do to me, but I will not compromise my integrity or image just to make a quick buck. It's morally wrong, and I am not going to do it."
Mike moved towards her, but Mayfield raised his hand to stop him. "It's okay, Mike. I love her spunk."
"Spunk? It's not spunk, and it's me not wanting to be a part of your team. You are a bad man and have bad men working for you; why would you think I would ever change my mind?"
Mayfield smiled. "Put her seatbelt on her."
Mike moved and did what he was told, running his hands down her body as he put his seatbelt on her.
"You will represent me. It's just a matter of time. And I have a way of convincing you." He Mayfield said.
Mercedes leaned back in the chair, shaking her head. "Where are we going?"
"That doesn't concern you."
Mercedes didn't miss the glint in his eye, he was up to something, and she was scared.
Sam took a deep breath as he got the news; he and Blaine had found Tina's car, but by the time the police got there, it was too late, and as they headed to the scene, his friend, the Detective on the case advised he and Blaine shouldn't be there. So instead, they met up at his parent's house, and now they got the gruesome rundown of what happened, which was horrifying. Running his hands through his hair, he shook his head and stared at the photos in front of him. "Is this…is she?"
"Yes, I am afraid so." Quinn Fabray said, showing him the files. "My partner and I arrived first on the scene; she was where you said she was; it looks like Ms. Cohen-Chang made the drop and felt remorse for it, so she shot herself. There was evidence of someone or thing being moved."
Blaine shook his head. "There is no way she would…." He closed his eyes. What she did was wrong, but he didn't want her dead. "She would never take her own life. Never."
Sam leaned in and took his hand. "He's right; there is no way she would have done it. They did it when they took Mercedes, and it's their MO."
Quinn sighed. "Unfortunately, we can't prove it right now."
Blaine wiped his eyes as he turned towards Quinn. "So what do we know?" He sniffed.
"We know that the trade happened. And we know that there was a Private plane manifest plan submitted for one of Mayfield's planes, and it took off a few hours ago." She said. "Now we are on this, but because we go back, Sam, I am giving you a heads up."
Sam clenched his fists. He and Blaine had known Quinn Fabray since they were teens, and while he joined the Military and Blaine went to school for computer science, she went to the Police Academy.
"Do you know where they might be headed?" Sam asked.
"Santana thinks he is headed back home, but we can't be too sure; he has property there, in Hawaii and Rome. All we know is what he wants, and that's for Mercedes to put an end to his trial."
"She won't do it. She…" Sam stopped talking for a moment. "Mercedes won't agree to help him; that's not who she is."
Blaine shook his head. "We didn't think this was Tina, and yet here she is laying on that…." His voice cracked. "If I would have known…if I could have…"
Sam turned and pulled Blaine into him. "Blaine, this is not your fault; Tina made her decision; she knew how crazy, how horrible Mayfield is, and she chose to trust him. This isn't your fault, and I won't let you beat yourself up for it."
"She was our sister Sam…." He said, voice cracking. "She didn't deserve this, and didn't deserve to lose her life like this…."
Sam nodded. "I know." He said, hugging Blaine. "I know." He wiped his own eyes. "We will not let them get away with this, I know it hurts, it does, and it will be dealt with. Blaine, I will understand if you want to walk away now."
"No! Not after all this. I want to know why they killed Tina."
"B, it's probably as simple as they didn't want a witness; Mayfield leaves nothing to chance. You see what he did to his attorney; they tried to make that look like an accident too." He sighed, looking over to Quinn. He didn't wish death on Tina, but he couldn't feel terrible about her death after she betrayed him. She didn't deserve death, but she made her choice and got what was coming to her.
"Quinn, we need to charter a plane; if he took her back home, then it's only a matter of time before he gets rid of her," Sam said.
"Sam, we can't know for sure that's where they are. Right now, we have to wait and see. Now there is one thing going for her, if she comes up missing, he will be the number one suspect; Mayfield knows that, so he's not stupid. That gives us time."
Sam nodded. "Just not a lot."
