Hiro walked into Basemax cautiously. The hallway light bulb was flickering on and off. Hiro wasn't sure what room The Eliminator was waiting for him in, so he checked them all one by one. It was like navigating through a Haunted House and not knowing when something would jump out at you. After finding nothing in the first three rooms, he decided to check the training room. It was covered in darkness. Hiro stepped in anyway and tried to keep his nerve. He kept going forwards, feeling out with his hands, until he felt something cold and steely. Spotlights suddenly turned on. In each one stood Fred, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Gogo, all restrained by droids. And then one more turned on at the back of the room. Hiro gasped and mouthed "No." Karmi, Olivia and Heathcliff were all tied to chairs and had tape over their mouths, with droids pointing guns at them. Hiro instinctively ran towards them to take them on, but then he heard footsteps behind him and froze mid run.

'Good of you to join us, Mr. Hamada. But I wouldn't do that if I was you…' It was the Eliminator himself, in person this time. He was wearing a white suit with a silver cape.

'Let them go now!' roared Hiro. The Eliminator tutted.

'Now that all depends on what you can do for me.' The Eliminator prowled about and circled Hiro.

'What do you mean?'

'Well, I've been watching the whole time you thought I was gone. You are quite the remarkable man and your knowledge of robotics is second to none.'

'So what do you want?' The Eliminator smiled wickedly.

'Let me tell you a bit about myself first. I was much like yourself. Loved robots and technology and was always looking for new ways to evolve past this mundane human lifestyle. I was a student scientist at the best university in San Fran. The best in my field. But I wanted more. My professors held me back because they were jealous of my potential. But I knew better! So I found new ways to go beyond the norm and excel! As you can see, I have made modifications to my weak, pitiful human body slowly over time…' Hiro winced at that. 'Now I am more than any man has ever been. I have been upgraded. And that is exactly the way the world should be too. The world is diseased and needs healing. And that is where you come in.'

'What are you talking about?' Hiro reached a hand into his pocket and fiddled about with something. The Eliminator didn't notice as he continued to prattle on.

'Hiro. I am asking you to join me. Together we can advance the world into what it should be. My droids are the future. Eventually we can begin a new age of steel! It is the only way forward. And you will be the one to make it happen. So. What do you say?' The Eliminator stopped in front of Hiro and inspected him closely with his glass eye. His crusty lips curled into a slight smile.

'Don't do it, Hiro!' shouted Fred.

The droid holding him put its hand over his mouth. Hiro turned to look at everyone and then shook his head.

'No! Never! That's just insane!' The Eliminator's smile quickly faded.

'You really don't have a choice in the matter!' he shouted, becoming impatient. 'Join me. Or watch your beloved girlfriend die. Then all your friends. One. By. One. Understand?' Hiro sighed and nodded.

'Ok. So, I'll ask you again. And think very carefully before you answer this time. Will. You. Join me?'

The Eliminator held out his hand. Hiro raised his hand a little. The Eliminator laughed triumphantly, thinking he was victorious.

'That's it. Good boy.'

Hiro hung his head and grabbed The Eliminator's cyborg hand.

'No!' muffled Honey Lemon, through droid hands.

'Excellent! You have made the right decision. Now, together! We can achieve greatness, my apprentice!' Hiro laughed a little and raised his head.

'Never means never.'

'What?!'

Suddenly the Eliminator received an electric shock. He fell backwards in pain, still having some vulnerable organic tissue. Lightning raced through him. Hiro had strapped a high voltage electric shocker to his hand. And of course, he was protected by his super suit. The Eliminator was weakened and badly damaged by it, but this didn't stop him from going raving mad. His glass eye span erratically and the grill side of his mouth was steaming in a fit of rage.

'That's it! You had your warning! Droids! On my command! Eliminate her!' he spat, pointing at Karmi.

'Ready! Aim!' The droid took aim and Karmi winced. 'FIRE!'

The laser gun powered up. Hiro took a sharp intake of breath and his heart leapt in his mouth. The droid was about to fire when a wave of energy suddenly encapsulated the room. The gun went kaput, along with the droid itself which completely shut down, including all the others in the room. Fred, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Karmi were now free.

'What?! IMPOSSIBLE!' cried the Eliminator.

'Not really. It was quite easy really…'

The Eliminator's human side of his face was in utter confusion. Hiro clicked his fingers to the other side of the room. Baymax was standing at the doorway with a device.

'You see, all those droid attacks gave me time to figure out a way to stop them for good. I took parts of the droids we dismantled and studied them and found weaknesses. And then that's when I got the idea to make an electromagnetic pulse deactivator, which is intrinsically synced with your droid's basic mechanism systems. I wasn't sure it was going to work, but Baymax just made your droids look like a pile of scrap metal. Ha!'

'Hello, I am Baymax. Your droids appear to be out of commision and have a 0% chance of reactivating.'

'Haha! Good job, buddy!'

Hiro put his hands on his hips and winked smugly at Karmi. If Karmi's mouth wasn't taped up, you'd see the most aroused look on her face. Karmi always loved it when Hiro went full Genius Boy mode.

'Now, are you going to come quietly or is this going to get ugly?'

'You will never defeat me! I will have my glory!'

The Eliminator stumbled to his feet and quickly pulled out a small laser gun out of his cape. Then he grabbed Karmi and dragged her along with him, holding the gun to her head.

'Nobody move an inch! Or she gets it!'

The Eliminator backed out of the room, keeping his beady glass eye on everyone. Hiro looked into Karmi's eyes and mouthed "I love you." Karmi's eyes crinkled in response. Hiro guessed she was probably smiling back at him.

'Now, you young lady are coming with me. If Mr. Hamada does not want to be part of my new empire, his precious girlfriend will have to do,' he sneered.

'I don't think so,' said a voice from behind him.

The Eliminator snapped his head around and was immediately met by a strong punch to the face. He collapsed to the ground. He brought Karmi down with him and she would have hit the ground, if it wasn't for a quick reactive save from Hiro. He held her in his arms and took the tape off her mouth delicately, being careful not to hurt her.

'You okay, babe?'

'I am now.'

Hiro smiled and brought her back upright. Then he turned around to face their rescuer. He was shaking his hand in pain. The punch clearly hurt.

'Thanks, Chief. I'd restrain him quickly if I was you, he's a slippery one.' Chief Cruz nodded.

'Good thing Baymax called me when he did,' he said.

Cruz signalled for his back up to come in. They rounded on The Eliminator and handcuffed him. He grunted and snarled at them.

'The Eliminator. Or should I say Dr. Micheal Grieves. We've been looking for you for a very long time now. You are under arrest for atrocities to the city and the murders of five univerity professors. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you do say may be given in evidence. Do you understand?'

'Yeah, yeah. Don't think you've won. I will be back! I will have my revenge on every single pathetic human beast! Then the age of steel will be upon you all!'

'Yeah, sure. Whatever. Take him away,' said Cruz. The police officers took him out.

'I wouldn't keep him in the station too long, Chief. He needs to be locked up in the highest security prison in the world. He's way too dangerous,' said Hiro.

'I know. We've got it from here. We've made a special prison for him in the meantime, he shouldn't be able to escape from.'

'Thanks, Chief.' Cruz tipped his hat to everyone and walked out. Hiro saluted him and turned back to his loved ones.

'Well, I'm glad that's all over. And I'm glad you're all okay. I love you guys.'

Everyone thanked Hiro for rescuing them. They all had a group hug and then broke apart when they heard muffling behind them.

'Oh! Sorry, Heathcliff! Sorry, babe! Didn't mean to forget about you,' said Fred.

He quickly rushed over and untied them. Fred kissed Olivia and hugged Heathcliff. Everyone was fine now. They decided to call it a night after everything and parted ways. Hiro and Karmi were the last to leave and flew home on Baymax. Hiro was quiet most of the journey, until he spoke at the end of it.

'Hey, babe. I owe you an apology.' Karmi didn't understand and gave him a confused look.

'An apology? What for?'

Hiro was interrupted by Baymax suddenly announcing they were coming in for a landing. They landed outside the Lucky Cat. Hiro took Karmi to the workshop to sit and talk. Baymax waited outside.

'I need to apologise for… for everything that happened back there. For putting you through that whole ordeal. If it wasn't for me being so stupid, then maybe it wouldn't have happened.'

He took his helmet off and hung his head in shame. Karmi put a hand on Hiro's face and tilted his chin up.

'Hey, hey. That wasn't your fault in any way whatsoever!'

'But it kinda was… You see, The Eliminator tricked me and made me think that… That…' Hiro stammered over his words and was close to tears. Karmi rubbed his arm.

'It's okay. Take your time, babe.' Hiro took a deep breath and looked away.

'He made me think Tadashi was still alive!' Karmi immediately opened her mouth in shock.

'Oh, God. I'm sorry, babe. That's horrible. I can only imagine how that must have felt.' Hiro turned back to Karmi.

'It's okay. Obake did the exact same trick two Halloweens ago and I fell for it both times. I mean this time, it was more curiosity than anything. He just made it seem so real… but if I hadn't taken the bait, then maybe I could have prevented it all from happening.'

He lowered his head again and a tear trickled down his face. Karmi wiped it away and comforted him.

'I completely understand what you're saying, but you really can't beat yourself about it. He clearly wanted to get you alone by yourself and I'm sure he would have found another way to get to you, if you didn't go along with it. And hey, look at me. I'm perfectly fine. Because of you and your extraordinary brain!'

Hiro raised his head slowly and half smiled.

'Wow, I can't believe you just said that. I thought I was nothing but a silly doofus,' joked Hiro.

'I mean, you are sometimes. But the way you outsmarted The Eliminator there? It was absolutely brilliant! You were nothing short of amazing tonight.'

'Thanks, babe. You know I'd do anything to protect you. But I still put you in danger…'

'Well, I know what I signed up for the day I decided to be your girlfriend. And I'm here for the long haul whatever happens. Now, just kiss me you doofus.'

Hiro stifled a laugh and obliged. Then they hugged each other really tight.

'Hey, Karmi. There's just one thing that's still bothering me.'

'What's that then, babe?'

'What were you doing in the bathroom before?'

They stopped hugging. Karmi had a nervous expression on her face and fiddled with her hair.

'Well, don't be mad I didn't tell you sooner, but… I kinda applied to San Fran Medical School for next year and the reason I rushed off to the bathroom was because I got an update from the university.' Hiro blinked in astonishment and then laughed happily.

'Now, why would I be mad about that! That's absolutely fine! More than fine actually! Awesome! That means we could see each other much more often!' Karmi sighed.

'Yeah, but I don't want you to get too excited. The last thing I wanna do is get your hopes up high and then disappoint you. That's why I held it back from you. I mean, I had to get in first and then even if I did, I would still have to convince my parents to let me come back here…'

'Right, okay. Well, all I care about right now is you, babe. Don't worry about me... So, what was the update?'

'Well…' Karmi played with her ponytail and smirked a little. 'I GOT IN!' she exclaimed. Hiro was absolutely elated with joy and celebrated with her.

'Oh, babe! I'm so happy for you! You are so amazing! Congratulations!' Karmi loved how supportive her boyfriend was being, but refrained from getting too ahead of herself.

'Thank you, Hiro. But remember, it's obviously subject to approval.'

'Yes, of course. But can I ask why medical school? I thought you had your heart set on being a biologist?'

'I did, yeah. But meeting Baymax properly and seeing all the amazing things he can do… The legacy Tadashi left behind… It just inspired me so much! Plus, I really enjoyed looking after you when you were injured on New Year's. And it got me thinking about how I could use my knowledge of biology to help cure diseases and other things like Baymax can. And you've inspired me too. I want to help people like you and the guys. Just in different ways of course. So it just makes so much sense. What do you think?' Hiro nodded and smiled.

'I think you would make a great doctor or medical researcher or whatever you want to be. And whatever you choose to be, I'll be backing you every step of the way.'

Karmi's eyes started to well up a little as she stared at her wonderful boyfriend's face in complete awe. She wrapped her arms around him and buried her head in his chest.

'Th-thank you,' she said, choking back tears of delight. Hiro stroked her hair gently.

'Whatever happens, whatever you do. I will always love you, Karmi. Things are just beginning for us…'
