Kuro sat in front of the mirror.
It poked the glassy object, before rapidly returning his paw to the side, fur bristling as the creature from the other side nudged back.
Its four eyes glowered at the reflection, before remembering it was only supposed to have two.
Tendrils expanded and covered the upper ones.
It blinked again, revealing two ordinary eyeballs that fit its appearance.
Kuro practiced being Kuro all morning.

"Where…" Milky lavender pupils gleamed in worry as daylight began to vanish. "Where c-could he be?"
When the sun sets, the compound goes quiet, reminding her more of her loneliness within her home's blank walls.
"He couldn't have gotten f-far…" If only she could stop stuttering…
The dark-haired girl tried to keep her tears at bay. "I-I can't lose you too."
Otou-sama might not tell her she was a failure of an heiress.
Her eyes bulged out as she heard rustling behind her, and the kunoichi in training positioned herself into the clan stance, ready to move into hand-to-hand combat against her offender.
But when she realized exactly what came out, the bashful girl deactivated her dōjutsu and softened.
"H-here you w-were!"
Hare ears twitched in response.
"I'm glad you're safe… I don't know what I would do without you." She confided in her friend, her nervous tick withdrawing entirely when he was around.
She tenderly brought him to her arms and patted his head gently to avoid troubling the scarred right side of his face. "Let's go back to bed before Otou-sama catches us awake…"
"Shiro." The meek child carried the rabbit to her quarters for the night, contemplating if tomorrow… she will get to see… Him…
Her flushed complexion and thoughts impeded her from catching Shiro's single yellow eye and unusually round teeth beaming at the sight of the moon illuminating the Elemental Nations.
