Regrets of a Knight
The shadows are long in the hours of the night
Enshrouded in their embrace even sleep is denied me
Till death is upon me still I wonder why I refused the light
And with my choice damned my soul to anguish for eternity.
In the dark lonely dreams of the wanderer
I remember her eyes were golden, molten, dazzling gold
She offered me the world, the people, unlimited power
And in that instant, my principles forgotten, I gave her my soul.
And then there were Rinoa's eyes
Frightened, pleading, grieved by my betrayal
In that moment I wavered, that look melting the ice
But then it passed, and I turned back to evil.
The Garden passed far above me as I stood on the pier
And remembered, and regretted
So close, yet far beyond my reach, a home I had held dear
A home not mine any longer, though I had repented.
I hope, all those who had lost loved ones to me or my orders
That you will find enough mercy in your hearts
To forgive and forget, to pardon my terrible blunders
And to mourn me when my storm-tossed soul finally departs.
Author's Note: I'm not really a Seifer fan, but I always wondered in the
scene where he is fishing with his buds did he really feel sorry for what
he had done? This is my own interpretation of his feelings concerning his
betrayal, but if you don't agree go ahead and flame all you want if you
have a valid reason.
