CHAPTER 2
The wagon, or cart, was uncomfortable and smelt of blood, as the straw within was crimson of it. He could not see but a skinny stripe of thin moonlight from the tiny double doors, but in a way, he was more comfortable in the darkness. For he was now a more less favorable soldier of the Cormyrian Government due to the Lord of Marsember's misjudgment of his sparse actions, though he did not regret the undertake.
The horse pulling him were completely silent and the two men of whom took him into custody, and were currently taking him to the lines, did not utter a word of any tongue. It was only the hoofs of the stout ponies that he could hear anything. It was eerie, or so he thought.
He had been on the road for what seemed about a day or more, without food or water, going east to the Vast Swamp. Now he assumed he was crossing the fields and hedgerows outside of Wheloon, northeast of Marsember, and just south of the Wyvernwater. The road was once perilous to anyone who dared cross it, due to frequent orc raids on caravans and other various carts, but now it seemed to be safe. But even now though the horses footsteps he could hear others, one, or maybe two others on foot, hastily making their way to the cart back end. They were quiet steps, not orc, and as they drew nearer and nearer, the cart ceased, and muttered words of common tongue came into scope.
"You have him?" Asked a low, deep voice. One of the Purple Dragons leading the ponies dismounted and hit the rocky ground.
"Yes, I do not think hes injured at all, but he probably needs food and drink." He replied. Footsteps turned from the back and walked around the cart and came back to the end, and passed the line of light, shadowing its faint glow for a short moment.
"That'll have to wait, just get him out and let's get out of here immediately." There was a sudden banging upon the doors before it flew open and fresh, moist air rushed in, overtaking Arrene's nostrils with bliss. After a moment of enjoyment, he sat up and looked foreword upon the man's face, though it was half hidden in the shadow of a large oak.
"Master Cantan, do you remember me, from the temple!?" He asked excitedly. Arrenes answered instantaneously;
"I believe your Barony Shalk, the Cleric who healed me in the temple. Why have you come and what is this event that you have so clearly planned?"
"Well Master Canton, I heard from those two Purple Dragons that the lord of Marsember was to take you to the Vast Swamp and not let you go after all that battling!" Arrenes sighed heavily and began to talk once more,
"Barony, I didn't want to exit because I was fed up with the battles, I exited because in the night before my release, my house in the north end of town was raided by a band of thieves and I was bent on finding them before they all met their doom, but the lord did not understand and sent me to the Vast Swamp to fight for him." The cleric didn't seem surprised.
"Well Master-''
"Don't call me master any more."
"Sorry.Arrenes.but I am here to free you, were gonna go somewhere.to find you family I guess." Arrenes was altogether shocked as he took the words of Barony's mouth
