Summary: A blackout hits the Las Vegas Crime Lab, and Catherine finds a little surprise. Actually, two of them. Very short fluff. Rating: PG for adult situations

The lights flickered on and off at the Las Vegas Crime Lab. Catherine looked up at the lights. Great. Just Great. She thought. The computer she was working on turned off. Catherine got up from the chair and stretched. She went to a window and looked out. The storm had not yet blown over, like the news had predicted. Catherine pulled out her flashlight and walked down the corridor to the DNA lab to check on Greg like the overprotective mother she was. She stood outside the lab and shined the flashlight in. Greg's back was turned to her and he had pens in his hand and was pounding on the table to the music blasting next to him. Ah.the power of batteries. What would he do with out them? Catherine thought. Greg turned around, waved, and then, turned back to his music. Catherine continued down the hall to Grissom's office. She knocked on the doorframe. "Grissom? Hey?"
"Yeah. I'm on my laptop, by my desk." Grissom said. He informed Catherine of where he was. Yes...the power of batteries. Catherine thought again.
"Grissom, what happened to the lights?" Catherine asked.
Grissom scratched his right ear. "The rain."
Catherine gave an 'Oh' face and walked to break room to see if the coffee was hot. She opened the usually opened door, wondering why it was closed. She walked to the coffee pot and heard some funny noises behind her. She turned around with the flashlight. She saw Sara and Nick necking in the break room chairs. Catherine smiled. "Guys." She said.
The two broke up and tried to explain their reasons. "Experiment." "Grissom ordered it."
Catherine shook her head in disbelief. She grinned, "You may continue." She walked out of the break room chuckling. Finally, she decided to go visit Brass. She walked into his office. A arm reached out of nowhere and grabbed her shoulder. Catherine screamed
"Hey, it's just me." Jim said. He kicked his record player and it started to play.
"When did you get that in here?" Catherine asked.
"For you my dear." Jim said. He placed a flower into Catherine's hand. She bared her teeth and dropped the flower. Jim put his arm around her waist and started to dance. Catherine thought for a second. Ahh.this could be fun. She rationalised. She placed her arm around Jim and they danced.
"I didn't know you cared." She said. Catherine giggled lightly. This was fun. Grissom was such a stickler. He would say No, no, no, no. She hugged Jim close to her. They shared a romantic kiss and they let go of each other. A tear slid down Catherine's cheek. Jim wiped it with his hankie. Catherine smiled. She shut off the music and walked out of the room. The lights turned back on and Catherine retrospected on what had just happened. What had Jim done? He shattered Catherine's fragile ego. He made her vulnerable. He made her his own. And, you know, she liked it.
