Title: Tell Myself - Ficlet Version
Author: Dr FooFoo
Rating: PG
Warnings: yaoi, incest
Feedback: Review or e-mail
Notes: Part of a larger story that may or may not ever get finished.
The moonlight shone through slits in the venetian blinds of the dormitory bedroom. A lone figure sat on the skinny bed, satin sheets draped loosely about his shoulders and legs. His chocolate brown hair hung across his face as he stared down at a picture in his hands. A picture of a man who bore a slight uncanny resemblance to the figure, but not enough that one would notice at first.
A single moist droplet dripped down the figure's face to his cheek, then down and splashed on the glass covering the picture. "Guna..." he murmured softly to himself, and hugged the picture close to his chest suddenly. The tears flowed freely now, but the man made no noise as he cried.
After a few moments, he crawled out of bed, the picture still pressed closely to his body, as if he never wanted to let it go. The satin fell to the floor in a curtain as he stood and walked naked to the dresser. Placing the picture exactly in its place on the polished wooden surface, the figure stepped back to examine the scene he had set up. The picture sat on the dresser, alone save for two army dogtags on a chain beside it.
A few moments passed and the figure turned and climbed back into bed, dragging the sheets up to the matress with him. He lay staring at the picture for quite some time... then drifted off slowly into the same restless haunted sleep he had endured every night since that fateful day.
I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone.
And though you're still with me,
I've been alone after all.
