Later on, James left the girl's dormitory because Lily had tried to strangle him, and he decided it was best if he left while still in one piece.

"Lovely day isn't it, lilyikins?"
Lily growled menacingly. "If you don't get me out from this bed, I'll murder you!!!"
James smirked. "And what if I don't? You can't hurt me. You can't even get out of bed, ya lazy bum!"
"You think that this is funny, you big headed egotistical jerk? Why don't you just let me up and be on your way? Never mind, I don't need help from a prat. Why don't you go away? After all, you're stinking up my dormitory!" Lily said, each word dripping with venom.
James frowned. "Why don't you want my company? I'm the best looking guy here. You should be proud to have me in here. And I don't stink. Infact, if anyone stinks it's you! Why don't you go and take a bath? Whoops, I forgot you can't! You're stuck to the bed!
"Come on, Sirius, let's leave. I don't want to contaminate my good looks," said James. All the while he spoke, Lily sat on the bed, scowling in frustration and not listening to a word James was saying.
Sirius wouldn't budge as James tried to drag him out of the dormitory. "ButâE¦Eve tookâE¦umâE¦Pooky bunny," he said anxiously.
James sighed, and left Sirius to play a game of keep-away Pooky.

'Would she ever learn to take a joke?' thought James. Well, they had a Quidditch game coming up soon. That should take his mind off things for a while.
