This takes place after Evelyn and Rafe's first argument.

"Evelyn" Rafe shouted, as he watched his girlfriends shadow disappear behind the corner, what the hell was I thinking? Rafe asked himself as he turned in the opposite direction. Things were going so well until Rafe told Evelyn, that he had volunteered to go fight with the Eagle Squadron, in England.

Why the hell didn't I just tell her what I told Danny? But I thought she'd understand. Everything I tell her, she seems to understand better then everyone..even Danny Rafe thought to himself as he walked to the hotel that they were staying in. No-one seems to understand that I've always wanted to do this. It's like a dream come true, in a really weird and scary sort of way. Rafe thought to himself.

Rafe couldn't sleep that night, no matter what he did, and when he eventually got to sleep all he could see was Evelyn's crying face. It hurt him so bad, "Evelyn" Rafe would say walking up to her, "Please don't cry.I'm so sorry I made you sad" but when she looked up, it would be Danny's face. Begging Rafe not to go, that Rafe was the only family he had.
Let it wash away these lonely tears, and bring us back again.
Rafe got up to have a shower, hoping and praying it would wash away the guilt he felt inside, he wanted to go so bad, no.he needed to go so bad. His whole life he dreamt of being in the fighter planes, life was so easy then, but now. Now he felt as though Danny and Evelyn hated him. It would kill him if Evelyn hated him, but, one day he'd get over it. His biggest problem was Danny, his little Brother and best friend Danny; could he actually get over the fact that Danny hated him?

"I thought you told her not to come?" Danny asked Rafe, the next day at the train station, as Rafe was just about to climb on the train, and Danny had no idea if he'd ever see Rafe again. "I did" Rafe replied, looking down at his case. "Then why are you looking for her?" Danny asked starring right ahead. "its my test, if I tell her not to come, and she does, then I know.I know she loves me" Rafe replied while looking at the floor. It was time for Rafe to board the plane and Evelyn was still no where to be seen. Rafe slid his cap onto his head, looked up at Danny and said "if anything happens to me, I want you to be the one to tell her" "Yeah, well just make sure and come home for both of us" Danny replied with tears in his eyes, and he hugged his best friend in the whole world, the only person to come even remotely close to being his brother. "I love you Danny" Rafe shouted climbing on the plane, "love you too, bro" Danny shouted back. As Rafe was sitting there in his seat, he turned to look out the window and saw Evelyn standing there crying, he tried to get her attention, but she couldn't hear him, but, that didn't bother him, because he knew there and then, that Evelyn really did love him.
