Darkness Falls: Epilogue
"They don't remember anything."
Zero glanced over at the auburn haired girl and shrugged. "That's a good thing, isn't it? Who would want to remember something like that?"
"No one. But we need to remember. We have to prevent it from every happening again." Caroline sighed. "Just look at this. What if we forget and time passes and again this occurs?"
They were standing in front of the remains of the old Hunter Headquarters. It had taken over a month to clean the area, but finally most of the debris from the fallen building had been moved, and the entrance to the underground tunnel had been blocked. No one was quite sure why Zero had insisted that was done, but no one felt like arguing with the Crimson hunter.
"We won't forget."
"But they don't remember."
"No… X doesn't. But Alia does, though she's trying to deny it."
Caroline thought about this for a moment and nodded. "Yes… Malice affected her. Probably more deeply than either of us. But what good could come of that?"
"Iris was touched by Malice… And now Alia is… Kirie was also touched by Malice."
There was an unspoken thought between them, one neither would voice. The wind picked it up and carried it away, leaving them standing together in silence.
