Coming to the End

We're finally coming to the end

Like the closing of a storybook

After the adventure is done

Our task has been finished

And it's time to go home.

I'm not sure where home is anymore

I'm sure you do, though.

You'd say you belonged in the Shire,

But as for me, as for me,

I wouldn't know.

It seems as though,

For the last couple months,

I lost myself,

In the Ring,

In the Outer World.

Now I don't know where to go

Or where I belong.

My dreams bring me everywhere, now.

To Rivendell and Lorien, and into the Mines of Moria

Across the Dead Marshes and right into Mordor.

It seems that this adventure has torn me away.

Away from who I am, no, who I was.

I feel like I don't belong anymore

I can't remember who I was before either.

I'm lost; lost in a world that shuns me.

Something happened out in the wilderness.

Sometime between the Black Gate and the End.

I denied everything, including you, Samwise Gamgee.

I let myself slip away from sanity.

I know you knew what was happening.

You could see what was happening to me

I couldn't resist the Ring.

It was too powerful and you tried to help me.

But I turned away.

And that nearly got us killed.

Now, I'll have to go,

Or I can stay, here… home.

Is this really home?

Is my home out in the West,

With my uncle and the elves?

I'll have to make my decision sometime soon.

But I don't know what it will be.

But whatever happens then, my dear friends,

Never forget that an adventure

Must always come to an end.
