Fair warning:It's rather harsh and disturbing. Also a big dose of pathos, but I like pathos.J

Their guns went off exactly at the same moment. Both of them regretted it and wanted to turn back time the second they pulled the trigger.

They were hit simultaneously, with deadly accuracy of the other's perfect aim.

And together they fell, loosing their guns, in red, desert dirt.

Blood filled his lungs and he instantly knew that this time that was really it.

She felt bullet lodged between her ribs and recognized damage beyond repair.

With greatest effort, marking her way with trail of blood, she crawled to where he lay limply, on his back.

Supporting herself with one hand she tried to look into his face, clearly aware of of mortal wound in his chest and amount of blood flowing from beneath him.

His eyes were half opened, but she didn't know if he saw her, his bloodied lips moved with one short word that she couldn't decipher.

She wanted to speak herself. Her mind perfectly formed and wished the words to flow but her vocal cords were as if wooden and her lips moved soundlessly. She tried again and a thin rivulet of blood flowed out of her lips and splashed on his neck.
Incapable of doing one last thing that she needed to do she started to cry. Big,hot tears falling onto his face.

He could see her, her deathly pale face, her insane, pained eyes, he imagined that her lips were moving, but he heard nothing. Then her tears were on his face, and he wanted to cry too, to cry for her, for Teri, for himself, but he simply couldn't.

At this very moment all his deeds and broken promises came back to him with crushing power as his waning mind tried to torment him once more.
He couldn't stand it and moaned from psychical pain, praying for death to come quicker.

She fell next to him ,face down, unable to lift herself anymore, her arm thrown across his chest ,her cold, sweaty fingers clumsily trying to caress his as cold and clammy cheek.

Their blood still flowing, mixing before sinking into the cracked, dry ground.

She heard his wheezing painful breaths and although her own pain was beyond anything she has ever felt, she wanted to take this physical pain of dying from him...she wanted...

She heard the faintest whisper "Teri" and her dying heart turned to dust.
She cried silently into sand ,dry and smelling of blood.
All choices all that happened between them led to this. And this was an absurd, this was a nightmare.

The white mist in his head started and he entered it with one word: "Teri".

The white mist in her head started and she entered it with one word: "Forgive me".

The night fell over the desert bringing the darkness and cold, but it didn't matter to two bodies already taken by greatest coldness and darkness of all.
