The Lost Prophecies of the Third Age
Gandalf the White wandered around Minas Tirith's libraries apparently aimlessly. His hands would briefly pause over each stack or roll of parchment he found, opening one and then closing it after he had read only a few words. Some stacks he skipped entirely. None of them were what he was searching for. After many days spent in this manner, for Minas Tirith's libraries were extensive, he began to lose hope. Finally, he found what he was looking for. A stack of parchment,so old the paper cracked in his hands. The cover page read:
THE PROPHECIES OF NUMENOR.
OF THE THIRD AGE.
Gandalf Istari slowly peeled apart the papers, but they were too old; they withered in his hands. He could barely make out a few words. Here they are, as he saw them:
He w...at.end...age
..fate of Middle Earth....
After that he could make out no more. But we, my friends, we have the privilege of looking back to the time when the ink was still fresh on the parchment. Each prophecy is here as it was originally recorded in Numenor:
He will rise at the end of this age
The fate of Middle Earth will rest in his hands
Were he to know this he would ultimately fail,
The Halfling who wanders many lands
A/N: Can you guess who this is about? If you can, email me with the words Entwife-answer in the subject line. The first to guess gets to pick who or what the next prophecy is about.
