Title: Let's Have Some Fun
Summary: A late night in the White House and Josh is in the mood for some fun.
Pairings: A little Josh/Donna but not really
Disclaimer: Sad to say, they ain't mine.
Note: I started this awhile back so the time frame is mid season 3. Feedback makes my day. Don't burn me too badly, but I don't mind a little singe.
Wow this man is annoying, Donna thought to herself as Josh continued to ramble on. For the past two hours he had been talking about his theory on life. Not that Donna wasn't interested in what Josh had to say, it was just a person could only take so much of an extended metaphor comparing barbecue wings to life.
"You see Donna, when you're eating the wings you enjoying them for the moment. They're tasty, and have the hint of spiciness that makes them exciting. However soon your realize that the after effect of those wings is heartburn and-"
"Josh." Donna cuts him off in mid sentence. She stands up, leans over his desk and grabs him by the shoulders.
"Listen, I think barbecue wings are great. I think life is great, and hey you 're not half bad yourself, but for the love of all things holy, shut up!"
"Donna"
"Shh"
"Donn-"
"Shh"
"Don-"
"Joshua, I'm leaving. I'm gonna go home and sleep for as long as humanly possible." Donna gathered up her things and began to walk out the door.
"What ya tired or something?"
"Yes, Josh I'm tired is that so hard to believe?"
"Oh come on Donna where's your spirit? Let's do something, anything."
"Josh have you had more coffee than usual? You seem a bit wired."
"I've consumed my normal level of coffee thank you."
"Okay, than why are you so alive at 1:30 in the morning?"
" I don't know. It's just that things have been so dull around here lately; I'm in the mood for a little fun. What'd ya say Donnatella? In the mood for an adventure?" Josh said with a little too much excitement.
Josh was somewhat right, Donna thought. It's not that she wasn't enjoying her job; it was just that the outside world of normal life had seemed somewhat distant for quite some time. It had been pretty tense around the White House lately with the whole MS thing. There was now a small window of relaxation now that the President had accepted the censure. Soon the campaign for re-election would be in full swing (if it wasn't already).
"All right Josh, let's have a little fun." A small grin began to widen across Josh's face as Donna spoke. "One condition though."
"Anything." Josh replied, instantly regretting what he had said. What was Donna going to ask for?
"I want our "fun" to be paid work time"
"You want money?" Josh asked a little confused.
"Right on"
"I can't pay you for this. We're not doing any actual work."
"Alright then. See ya tomorrow." Donna began to walk out the door.
"Hold on" Donna turned at the sound of Josh's voice. " I can pay you twenty bucks, take it leave it."
So twenty bucks wasn't much but it was something. Donna decided that maybe her time could be well spent. After much debating with herself she decided to stay.
"It's been good doing business with you Mr. Lyman" She said as she grabbed Josh's wallet off the corner of his desk and pulled out a crisp twenty.
"Okay, so what are we gonna do?" Donna asked
Josh turned toward the door "I don't know, let's go see if Claudia Jean is still around"
He headed out the down the hallway towards CJ's office with Donna following close behind
