Way Down Deep

A poem about Col. Tavington's feelings toward his father, and perhaps his superiors, from his point of view. I realize that I have already written two poems about Col. Tavington, but hey, check it out.

Way Down Deep...
I feel pain
Way down deep.
Pain that haunts me, echoing from the past
Pain that you gave me.
I feel rage.
Rage built from the pain you gave me.
Rage still fresh in my mind.
You pushed me until I broke.
Then left me.
You left me to survive alone, in a world of cruelty.
Now my only choice is to be the person you made me.
Reborn from the ashes of my past,
I know or feel no kindness,
for fear it will only be a dream.
I feel pain.
Way down deep.
