~Undying Lands~
The last thing I remember is watching the sunset over the ocean. I looked back at the land I called home for the last 2000 years of my life. I did not cry nor resist, but I left freely. A new path lie ahead of me. I was never accepted in my old life because of my status. I was mistreated and unwanted; so I embraced this opportunity. People always played that 'What If' game, when they truly wanted something, yet never received it. Well I'm actually experiencing what if coming true.
Watching the land slowly drift away from me, as if not wanting to let me go, I hesitantly thought of staying, but chasing the rays that lighted the trail of hope seemed so much more important. Those few images are now all I have as a reminder of my past life. Looking back I see nothing but an endless ocean, inhaling the strong scent of seawater, I instantly knew I was doing what I was meant to do. Clouds of mist gently brushing against my flesh, reminding me of what silk felt like.
Gently taking my hand in his, he pulled me along, with the others that were fortunate enough to take the same journey.
'Is it possible to go on?' I thought to myself. Fear rising, thinking back to what I had been through. I might not of had much, and there certainly was no joy; but I had a sense of security. And I longed for that security right now.
"You deserve to be happy?" he said reassuringly, with a smile, easing my fears.
'Happiness is conditional' I thought out loud. Watching his smile fade, as he lifted a hand to move a lock of hair that strayed across my face.
"You do deserve to be happy," He stated seriously. "And I will do everything I can to make sure you are". 'You know that don't you?' "You are the reason we are here. A future together would have been forbidden if we stayed." He said sadly.
"But now I have you forever more, and I will bring joy to your heart whether it be in the midst of passion, lying on a bed of roses expressing our love as husbands and wives do; or watching our children grow. I have surrendered my heart to you and you alone.' I was fortunate enough to find such a rare treasure as you. No one else can soften my heart with a smile like you do. I rise up early in the morning just so I can watch you sleep, to see how peaceful and happy you look. Beautiful is what you are, inside and out. I love you" He said emotion clear in his voice, truth in his eyes.
His words touched a part of me I didn't know I possessed. My soul was affected at that moment, and I couldn't help but accept the only good thing that I had in my life. My past, now a blur. I wanted nothing more than to be with this male that cherished me like no other.
"I love you too, Legolas," I said losing myself in the depths of his eyes. Seeing a soul that wanted nothing more than to love me, and I wanted nothing more than to love him as well.
"I will never forget the day you expressed your love for me, its been three centuries since we've sailed to the undying lands, yet it still feels like yesterday. I will cherish those memories forever." I said reminiscing, as we sat and watched our children playing in the garden.
"Forever may not be long enough for our love" Legolas responded with a smile.
