A/N: A blank canvas, covered in paint, is a masterpiece. Another moment fic. It is as Satine is dying and it is mostly in her POV but it changes at the end - hopefully not too confusing, let me know if it is. Merci, Lecky
*!*There is starlight in your eyes
I wish you wouldn't cry it all away
Cause I drown in rivers of your tears
As I try to stop the waterfalls
His stormy grey eyes were glazed over in a thick sheet of tears that began to crash and fall down his cheeks in streams. She didn't want him to cry, she didn't want him to look this way the last time she would see him; she wanted him to smile and kiss her. She wanted the last thing she'd ever see to be the innocence and joyous love in his eyes looking back at her. She didn't want him to cry, but she couldn't stop him.
Moonlight shines down on our parade
I wish you wouldn't make it storm
Because I lose my way in the thunderclouds
As I try to find home
It was such a beautiful finale; a spectacular ending to their story but it was only supposed to be the end of the first chapter. For a moment she forgot she was dying, for a moment she believed that everything was going to be alright - she believed she was going to live happily ever after. The stage lights were the moon and the rose petals were the falling stars. The blood in her throat, slowly consuming her lungs were the storm clouds and his tears became the rain as he held her gently. Why did he have to cry? Why couldn't he have sung to her? She wanted him to smile so much, if he smiled it would've been so much easier.
There's love inside my heart
I wish you wouldn't make it ache
Cause once you break me
I won't fit back together
He could feel his heart shattering and crumbling with every last breath she took. Incredible pain pulsed through he whole body; a pain that would slowly turn into a dull ache and would forever live inside him. That was the most awful thing; the dullness and the aching she would leave him with. Not a happy memory, only a painful reminder. He wanted to smile for her just one last time and he wanted her so desperately to smile for him - so their last moment would some form of happiness.
But he could not smile and neither could she; they were both in too much pain.
