TERROR THREAT STOPPED BY MEGAMAN
23 January, New York - Six males who were, according to police sources, attempting to plant explosives beneath the Empire State Building, were found dead today. They had apparently killed by the famous robotic hero, Rock Light, alias Megaman.
"I was stopping by to pick up some papers from one of Dr. Light's offices." said Megaman in a statement to police. "I saw these six guys carrying boxes through the parking deck. They looked suspicious, so I scanned a box when they weren't looking. It had plastique inside.
I told the men to stop, and they started shooting at me, So I shot back. Then I called the police."
The men, who are now suspected to be part of al-Qaida or a related organization, were found with cauterized holes through their chests.
"Damnedest thing I've ever seen." remarked Ed Green, a detective with the NYPD. He was forced to place Megaman, who offered no resistance, under arrest on six counts of homicide and illegal discharge of a firearm.
The charges were later dismissed when a special grand jury session returned a "no true bill", on grounds that self-defense and the prevention of terrorism are legal acts, and that "a plasma cannon is not, technically, a firearm."
When asked about the apparent breach of the famous Laws of Robotics, Megaman's creator, Dr. Thomas Light PhD., CNE, MCSE, Dr.R, said; "I deleted the protocols. I felt Megaman could be of most help without the impediment. I left the Zeroth Law [which states that a robot must protect humanity] intact, though, and this falls under it."
Arch-nemesis, Dr. Albert Wily, could not be reached for comment.
