CAUGHT IN THE ACT
"Oh,
my god."
Starling was as furious as the doctor had ever seen her: cheeks flushed, eyes
sparking. Though Lecter was hardly a timid man, this
was unnerving. He just barely refrained from cowering.
"I'm terribly sorry, Clarice."
"Nope. You can't apologize your way out of this one, Mister." Her accent
returned, reeking of Virginia
hills. He tried not to cringe at the butchered enunciation. "It's the second
time this week!"
"But—"
She cut him off, lunging forward. The bag rustled affectionately in her hand,
welcoming the return of its mistress.
"Damnit," she snarled, "buy your own guacamole
Doritos."
