The Boy Who Lived - A Poem
The baby stirred in his dreamless sleep,
Surrounded by love, a love so deep.
His mother smiled and left him to rest.
There was a bang at the door as walked down the stairs,
A strangers whose name stood up your hairs.
In the doorway stood an unwelcome guest.
Cloaked in robes as black as the night
He pulled out his wand and prepared to fight.
Her husband yelled at her "Save Our Son!"
And the woman set off for her child at a run.
As she headed upstairs she heard a crash and a yell
Tears streamed down her face as her husband fell.
She picked up her son and ran to the stairs
But the stranger was waiting to catch her unawares.
She screamed and ran with her son to another room
Anywhere, anywhere to excape her doom.
She reached for her wand and raised it into the air
And glanced at the baby, "Tell Harry I care!"
The stranger entered the room with a flash of green light
And Lily Potter lay dead in the night.
He then turned his wand to the baby on the bed
And pointed his wand at the youngster's head.
Another flash of green light lit up the room
But it was the stranger instead who had met his doom.
Voldemort fled with his powers gone
He was weaker than all and stronger than none.
But Harry Potter survived with only a scar
A constant reminder that Voldemort's one step too far.
Harry didn't know that all over the land
People were raising their glasses and clapping their hands.
Harry's name was shouted with glee
From the Dark Lord's reign the wizards were free.
To Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived.
