Er, Same Title as Before, Really
~~~
The trees are green above us
But not as green as they were.
The birds sing around us
But not now as sweet as they sang.
Flowers bloom below us
But not as fair as once they grew.
Alas.
An echo lingers in the woods
Of the glory of bygone years.
Stay with me, o lady fair,
And we will fade together.
Fading...
As the day finally fades
And goes to evening.
But listen.
Listen!
A new song is in the woods.
Or is it old, and I forgot?
It speaks of hope, of life,
Of dreams, new and ancient.
And look!
A star rises!
~~~
Hail Eärendil, Brightest of Stars!
~~~
A/N: Bit of a break from what I usually do. I must've been awfully cheerful
when I wrote this :P
Also, for those who are interested, I've used two different words for "new"
here with slightly different meanings. Eden means new or begun again, while
gwain (plural gwîn) is simply new.
