Making Amends
By: The Confused One
Rating: G…I think
Summary: Bobby makes amends with Alex after Deakins sides with Bobby as to how to handle the body, the family, and Kelmer in "The Good Doctor".
A/N: Another little bridge scene that I felt like needed showing. It's just when Alex has to break the promise she made to the girl's cousin, she's extremely hurt, and I wanted to show how it was dealt with.
Archive: Yes to Amorous, of course. Anyone else, just let me know where it's going.
Feedback: PLEASE! Good or bad. I just want it. Send it to Charmed1500@yahoo.com
Disclaimer: Unfortunately I don't own anything to do with the L&O franchise, and I'm a poor college student, so please don't sue. Thanks.
Sometimes, like now, detective Alexandra Eames hates her job. With a sigh, she walks out of the office. She's just not interested in hearing the rest of her partner's plan. As far as she's concerned Bobby Goren can just do whatever he wants. Deakins has already said he could.
Sitting down at her desk, Alex begins shuffling papers, trying to ignore the slight resentment that's bubbling. She knows it's not his fault. He just can't help himself. She slams her file cabinet shut. Looking up, she about jumps, realizing that he's now watching her from his desk. He sits down before asking, "I'm sorry. I. In there. I didn't mean to push you out like…"
She puts up her hands to stop him before breaking in, "Don't, Goren. I know. It's fine. I'm fine. Let's just get this over with. OK?"
It's true. Alex does understand. She understands him. He didn't mean to get into it in front of the Captain, and she knows he understands her predicament. Her promise. She just hates pity, and she's not taking any from him, besides, despite her understanding, she's still a little angry. She still resents it. She still wants to tell the family. Looking into his brown eyes, she can see the apology still. He sighs and begins tapping his pencil on the table before he finally speaks, "Eames, Alex, I need to know you're going to be able to work with this tomorrow. I want to wind him up, and I could use you to help…"
Alex looks away. She swallows before interrupting, "I told you. I'll be fine. I'm not really even mad at you. I just. I hate having to do it this way."
Bobby nods and replies, "I don't like it either."
Alex knows he's telling the truth, but she still feels like she needs to take a break, get out of there. With a sigh, she stands up. Looking down at him, she explains, "It's already seven, and I just want a nice hot bath. I'll see you in the morning. Night."
Bobby looks a little perplexed and guilty now. She's just too tired to care at the moment. Alex grabs her purse and takes off.

Alex pulls into the parking spot in front her apartment. She's thankful it's still empty. Grabbing most of her groceries, Alex makes it to her front door, where she stops suddenly. Putting her bags down, and picking up the card, a small smile comes over her face.

Alex smiles as she walks in. He's at his desk, facing away from the door. Walking up behind him, she whispers, "Thank you."
Bobby Goren jumps. By the time his eyes lock with Alex's he's smiling too. Alex sits down at her desk, and continued talking, "How did you know?"
Bobby continues to smile. He replies, "You mentioned them last week. So I figured you'd like them. Listen, Alex. What I wrote on the card. I meant it."
Alex nods and smiles again. She simply replies, "I know. Thank you for that too. So what's the plan for when Kelmer gets here?"
