Aragorn walked through the familiar woods of Rivendell, waiting for his beloved to show. He looked up at the trees and smelled the flowers. He was as drawn to nature as a moth to a flame.
Then there she was. Beautiful as the twilight and fairer than any woman on this earth. Arwen Undomiel was looking around the woods, anxiously waiting for her lover. She saw him approach her and she smiled.
"Estel," she breathed. "I missed you." She ran up to him and embraced him tightly, never wanting to let go.
Aragorn merely laughed. He kissed her forehead and looked deep into her eyes. "My Evenstar, it has only been an hour or so since we last saw each other," he laughed.
She giggled also. "I know," she replied. "But I still missed you." She kissed his lips, soft and tender. He smiled.
"And I have missed you also Arwen," he said. He took her small pale hand in his and together, they walked the woods of Rivendell, talking and laughing, saying sweet nothings to each other and sharing passionate kisses every so often. The green trees blew with the summer breeze and the sky was a clear blue over their heads. Arwen laid her head on Aragorn's lap, her eyes closed, a small smile on her lips. Aragorn grinned to see his beloved so happy. His stomach fluttered with a thousand butterflies at the thought of what he was about to do.
"Arwen," he said. Arwen opened one eye and peered up at him.
"Yes meleth nin?"
"I will have to leave for Bree in a few days. Mithrandir has asked me to go," Aragorn said.
Arwen nodded solemly. "I know."
"I know not when we will see each other again," he whispered. Arwen frowned. "Me neither."
"You know I love you with all of my heart," he began. Arwen merely laughed.
"Of course I do!" she exclaimed. "And I feel the same way about you." She sat up and kissed his lips. He smiled. She made the moment so much easier.
"And you also know my Evenstar, that I would devote my entire life to you?"
Arwen looked up, a little surprised at his words. She nodded her head, a little confused. "Estel, what are you trying to say??"
Aragorn slipped the ring of Bara-Hir off of his finger. Arwen just stared in shock, tears of joy filling her eyes. They were face to face, on their knees. Aragorn took her left hand in his free hand. She just stared in disbelief.
"Arwen Undomiel, will you one day, become my wife. Will you marry me?" he asked, confident, yet a little nervous.
Tears ran down Arwen's cheeks. Aragorn was alarmed at the look of shock on her face, but was relieved as it slowly turned into a smile.
"Yes yes!!" she cried. She jumped on top of Aragorn, knocking them both down to the ground. Aragorn held her in his arms. They were both laughing and crying. Aragorn wiped a tear from Arwen's flushed cheek and they sat back up. Arwen giggled as Aragorn slid the emerald ring on her finger. She kissed him deeply, savoring the feeling.
Aragorn gently lowered them both to the ground. The sun was now setting in the forests of Rivendell and the trees witnessed Aragorn and Arwen professing their love to one another. They were finally eternally bound.
