Hypocrisy
All I want is for God to come,
To tell me all's okay.
All I want is prejudice,
To go and stay away.
I read the Bible, yesterday,
And shocked so much was I,
That God himself could say such things,
Those quasi-evil lies.
"Gays are evil,"
proclaimed God, and we,
we lapped it up.
"Prepare to burn in hellfire,"
And burn and burn we did.
But burning not in afterlife,
But in the here and now,
For evil has been spread throughout,
By God's so-mighty word.
The blindness of the world is strange,
They read just what they want.
They fail to see the real truth,
The truth that all must be.
For Jesus in his own great love,
Did help the Roman's "boy",
And in his healing grace did say,
"This is not an evil thing."
So its no foul in any way.
Interpretation makes or breaks,
But iron rigid minds,
Keep all of us locked in a place,
Of limits and denies
And weep I do, for we have lost,
To the things we daren't ape.
Despair and pain, angst and fear,
Have turned our love to hate.
So when they say,
In glittering church,
That all I think is wrong,
I turn to them and sigh.
For what is wrong,
To mighty God,
But hypocrisy and sin.
Everything he's done for us,
Is all about his love.
Now man and woman,
Man and man,
Woman woman,
Bound by love.
And love is what makes
Our world true,
And our loyalty to God
So trite and clear.
So listen not to man's prideful rants,
But to the clear tell from God,
That everyone is clearly equal,
Made by mighty God.
