Naruto stared with half lidded eyes from his spot at his table that sat in the corner of the kitchen. His dark ocean blue eyes followed a little mouse cautiously make it's way across the linoleum floor. It's tiny black nose lifting into the air occasionally, sniffing for possible predators or perhaps searching for the sent of food.
Naruto's fingers slowly traced to the small leather pouch that sat on his hip. His movements silent and slow enough not to alert the rodent to his presence. It was still making it's way across the expanse of the floor, its small paws making no sound as it scampered.
The only warning was the slight reflection of light off the kunai as the moonlight from outside shimmered against it's metal surface. The sound of something zipping through the air at speeds and a pained squeak and a dull thud as the weapon was driven into the floor occurred in mere moments.
Naruto stood, the cheep wood of his chair creaking slightly as he relieved it of his weight. Slowly making his way over to the dead animal he fell to one knee to get a closer look.
The boy sighed in dissatisfaction. His weapon had missed the spine of the animal by an inch. The thing died quickly for sure, but it must have been rather painful. Apathetic eyes took in the sight of the limp thing pinned to the kitchen floor.
Without much thought he reached forward, running his pointer and middle fingers through the small pool of blood that gathered around it's body. He brought the fingers closer to his face for inspection.
The liquid looked almost black against his skin in the dark room. The moonlight that came through the kitchen window glistened off the blood, making his fingers shiny. His eyes closed softly as he rubbed his pointer finger and middle against his thumb.
The blood caused the fingers to glide over each other easily. A shiver ran down the length of his spine at the sensation. Breathing deeply through his nose the boy let his eyes flutter open as he looked back down at the animal he had just killed.
"You could have picked any other apartment to sneak into little one..."
His bored tone broke through the quiet room like a thunderclap.
Reaching down he pried the kunai out of the floor, the body of the mouse coming with it still skewered on it's length. He brought the thing closer to his face. His bored features stared back at him reflected off the small beady black eyes of his kill.
"You chose poorly." He whispered to the tiny corpse, as if the too we're sharing a secret.
The ends of his mouth quirked up into a shallow smile as a quiet chuckle past his lips.
