Lorelai pushed a strand of hair out of Rory's face. "You look so peaceful for a five year old," she whispered to the sleeping child in her arms. "I guess ballet wore you out," she said as she opened the door to Luke's, "I don't understand why you wanted to join in the first place."
"Lorelai Gilmore, I should have known," Luke said, without turning around, "No coffee, at least no more today."
Lorelai pouted, making her way to the counter. "C'mon Lukey, I've only had three cups this morning," she said, giving him the most angelic look she could muster.
"Your insane," he sighed, giving in when he saw the sleeping Rory in her arms. He watched as she tried to keep Rory comfortable and pick up the coffee mug at the same time. "Here, let me take her," he said, coming out from behind the counter, extending his arms to Rory.
"Thanks," she said, smiling as she handed Rory over. She picked up the mug and took a sip. "Ah," she whispered, closing her eyes. 'A cup of coffee at Luke's could really help a person out,' she thought, 'But is it just the coffee I come fore? Sure, Luke can make a killer cup of coffee for someone who doesn't even like the stuff, but is there something else? I mean, Luke and I are just friends. We're just really good friends, who just happen to be there, willing to help out, all the time. There's nothing wrong with that, right?'
Luke grunted, pulling Lorelai out of her thoughts. She watched him shift Rory from one arm to the other, smiling. 'She fits there, in his arms," she thought, 'He'd be a great dad.'
"Lorelai?" Luke asked.
"Hmm?" she said, snapping her head up.
"You ok?"
"Yeah, why?"
"You just seemed a little distracted," he mumbled to the floor.
'How cute,' she thought, 'He was worried about me.' "I'm fine, and I'm done. I'll take Rory back now," she said. Lorelai took note on how carefully Luke handed Rory back over. Rory stirred, causing him to flinch. "She's fine, Luke," Lorelai giggled.
"No, she just startled me, that's all," he said, "I'm not really good with kids."
"Really? Because you seemed pretty good with Rory," she said, giving him a genuine smile.
"You think so?" He asked, resting his hands on the counter.
"Yeah, I really do," she said, putting her hand on his. "Oh," she gasped, "I have to get back to the inn!"
"I'll be here," he whispered. She smiled again, squeezed his hand, and left.
A/N: Sorry, this little ficlet wouldn't leave me alone. I'm working on new chapters for my other stories as I post this. Well, you wanted to see a GG fic, so here you go lykosdracos. Hope it's to your liking.
