Two Friends

Two friends, an elf and man, once roamed the lands,
Whose lives often led them into trouble.
Off cliffs they fell and into caves they went,
Making their lord panic on the double.

The two had the greatest of all the bonds,
That grew through pain and trust to be even
greater than that of the sons of Elrond's,
One day to be tested and be proven.

Then the day came when one was hurt badly.
He said do not leave me alone to die;
The man looked up at his best friend sadly.
The elf replied as he began to cry:

"Upon my life I swear to you my friend,
That I will be with you until the end."
