A.N: 350-word drabble based on the look of lust Fred was giving Wesley during the spell in "Your Welcome!"
He had always been there, sitting there in the back of her mind. But he had always been replaced by the other men in her life. It didn't matter if it was Angel, Gunn, or Knox. It seemed like she was always in love with anyone other than him.
But now, in the odd, flickering light of the office, something pushed all of them out of her head. Wesley was performing the spell, and somehow, Fred had never found him sexier than now.
It was such a bizarre thought, to think him sexy. She had always known he was handsome, but she never thought of him in this odd, sexual way that made her want to rip his shirt off. She had known him for three years, and in all that time she had never felt this.
She remembered the first time she had seen him. Then, back when she was nothing less than crazy, Fred saw him as the man who was smart and helped Angel. Then he became the smart one who was bookish, just like her. Somewhere along the line, he became depressed because of…well; she couldn't remember why he was depressed. Now, he was the wonderful man who she suddenly realized she was in love with.
He was the man who, during that first summer without Angel, had slipped books under her door before he went out at night. He was the man who took her out patrolling for the first time. He was the man who would listen to her chatter incessantly about Angel and had defended her when scared.
He was the man she had looked over for everyone else. He was the man who had kissed her softly but passionately and her first thought had been to pull away. He was the man she had denied time and time again. He was the man that she had tried to let go no matter how hard he had hung on.
But when he let her leave with Knox, she now knew that he was the man she loved who had finally let her go.
That was a bit depressing. I didn't mean for it to turn out that way. Ah well, if the episode 16 spoilers are true, we can write happy Fresley once again!
