A Season of Change
Everyone is sprawled out in Claudia's room for another meeting of the BSC. Kristy, as usual, is sitting in the director's chair. Claudia and Mary Anne are on the bed. Everyone else is sitting on the floor.
"Hey, Claud, do you have any candy laying around anywhere?" Abby asked. "I came straight home from soccer practice and haven't eaten a thing. I'm starving!" Claudia grinned. "You know I do. The question is, where have I hidden it?" she replied. Glancing around her room, Claudia jumped off the bed and opened her closet door. Pulling a coat off its hanger, she rooted around in the big pockets and pulled out some Snickers. In the other pocket she found Skittles. Tossing both to Abby she reclaimed her seat on the bed.
Kristy spoke up. "Let's get things going, you guys. Glancing around, she asked, "Has everyone read the log?" Nods from all around prompted her to continue. "Anyone have any news that needs to be discussed?"
Mallory mentioned that her Kid Kit needed to be restocked with some new items and Stacy informed everyone that she had to go out of town on the date of the next meeting to meet with her doctor. "Just a routine visit." she was quick to assure everyone. ":Oh, and we currently have $36.60 in dues." she added before Kristy could ask. The rest of the meeting went quickly as the phone seemed to ring endlessly. By the end of the meeting, all the members of the BSC, including the alternate members, had jobs booked for two weeks straight.
"Wow" Jessi commented. "I hope no one calls for a last minute sitter." Mallory nodded in agreement. "I know, I hate having to turn clients down."
Kristy had just opened her mouth to dismiss the meeting when the phone rang. Claudia suppressed a grin as she grabbed the phone. "Baby- sitters Club" she greeted in a professional voice. Soon a wide smile broke out on her face. "Oh, hi, Dawn!" she said excitedly. "Guys, it's Dawn!" Speaking into the phone, she said, "Dawn, I'm putting you on speaker phone, okay?" Hitting a button she put the phone back down and said, "What's up?"
A chorus of "Hi Dawn's" filled the room.
Dawn laughed as she heard everyone. "I take it everyone is there?" she asked. "Well then, I have some GREAT news! I'm moving back to Stoneybrook!" she exclaimed.
There was a few seconds of silence and then everyone realized what she had just said. Then everyone started talking excitedly at once. Dawn grinned as she listened. She would be glad to be back. She had missed the BSC more than she had thought she would've. She had even started a sitting club of her own, but it just wasn't the same.
Kristy grabbed for the phone. "So when are you coming back?" she asked.
"Hopefully I'll be back in a couple of weeks. I'll let you guys know for sure the closer it gets."
Kristy asked more questions and then the phone was passed around to everyone in the room to say hi and to ask their own questions. In all the excitement, no one had noticed that Abby had slipped out of the room.
