"Yusuke, it's already morning, Why are you still sleeping?"
Keiko said as she opened the door to his room slightly. "Remember, we were supposed to go the the pond and feed the ducks today?"
Yusuke stretched. "I can't go, too tired; I need my sleep." "You did say loss of sleep was bad."
"I did say that, but over sleeping can be bad too, especially when you made a date to go to the pond!"
Yusuke mumbled, "Oh! So now all of a sudden we're on a date!"
"Well, you know what I meant, Yusuke." "Let's go!"
Yusuke ruffled his blankets till eventually they sat at the edge of his bed. He rubbed his eyes and slowly moved himself till he was in a sitting position. Instantly, he plopped himself back into his bed. Keiko, angered by this, grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him back up again. Atsuko, Yusuke's mother, sat in the corner and laughed to herself. She watched till Keiko eventually left with the half-sleeping Yusuke.
Yusuke had tried his hardest to ditch Keiko. Unfortunatly for him, Kuwabara was
not around and no one seemed to want pick a fight with him... Just my luck, he thought. Every time he had looked for an opportunity to maybe just stop at the arcade quickly, Keiko stood there with a sad look on her face. Yusuke felt sorry for her and wound up staying. After walking half a kilometer to the pond, Yusuke was even more tired. He let himself fall on one of the wooden park benches by the water. Keiko sat next to him.
Great...he thought, She's going to give me a lecture or something.
Yusuke sat, waiting for the lecture he was almost sure he was going to receive, but his anticipated lecture did not come. Instead, Keiko sat at the end of the bench, still smiling.
"Yusuke, aren't you feeding the ducks today?"
"Yeah, like I've ever fed the ducks!"
Keiko left her seat and ran behind me.
"Well, Yusuke, if you don't want to feed the ducks we can do something else!"
She raised her hands and put them by his cheeks. "Wa!"
Yusuke jumped! Keiko ran away and made a gesture for Yusuke to follow her. He did. They found themselves running through the pond and into an unknown area. They kept running, getting themselves more and more lost.
The sun was setting and the horizon had a pinkish glow. The water sparkled in the dimming light as they ran through it. Keiko stopped to look around. Yusuke almost ran into her as she did so.
"Why did you stop," he asked.
Keiko kept starring....
"Yusuke, we're not at the pond anymore." "I think we have ran to the beach."
Yusuke stopped. The wind blew and the setting sun glistened through his hair. There was silence.
The ocean was tranquil; very calming. They both closed their eyes and listened to the wind blowing steadily through the trees. For a brief moment, it seemed as if their world stopped. Yusuke looked at Keiko and she at him. They began to be drawn to each other....getting closer...closer than they ever had been. Then....
Crash! The sound of thunder cracked through the skies. Yusuke and Keiko
returned to their former state; to reality. They moved away from each other. They feared over what could have happened.... And yet they also had a feeling of desire.... It was visible in their eyes; the desire to be together. That feeling was shaken off shortly and they began to walk home.
When Keiko returned home, she took off her clothes and changed for bed.
She noticed the picture of Yusuke she had was folded and tipped over. She picked it up and smoothed it out. She starred at it for awhile. Then, before turning her lights out; she kissed it.
Good night Yusuke.....she thought to herself.
