FB: Well, this is my first serious fic. I hope you guys like it. Check the
summary for details. Also, I changed some of the dialogue from the last
episode of the series, but I kinda prefer it like this. It's not AU, I
didn't change the ending, and etc. Beware; there are major spoilers for
those who haven't seen the last few episodes.
Disclaimer: I don't own Cowboy Bebop or it's characters. I'm not exactly sure who does, if someone could tell me the creator's name, it would be most appreciated.

Chapter one: It's only the end of the beginning.
"I'm going. I have a score it's finally time to settle." Spike walked toward the hanger with a determined look in his eyes, a look Faye had never seen before.
"You can't go! Not alone! You'll be killed!" Faye was crying. She never cried before that she could remember. In fact, she rarely showed any true emotion. Faye had no idea what was coming over her, but she refused to let Spike go. "Please, at least let me go with you!"
"I can't. You know I can't."
"Then promise me you'll come back! Please, promise me!" Spike walked off without saying a word. Faye knew she'd never see him again unless she stopped him. She got to the hanger just in time to see the Swordfish lift off. She ran into the Red Tail and started the engine, but when she looked up, the hangar doors were closed.
"Jet, open the doors! I'm following him!"
"Faye..."
"Open the doors now!"
"Faye, this Spike's fight, not yours. Stay out of it."
"But he'll die!"
"He might survive."
"He won't."
"Then you'll die with him."
"I don't care! I can still stop him..."
"He needs to do this, Faye. Even if it means he has to die."
"Just before he left, I asked him why he was going to die. He said he wasn't, he was going to find if he was ever really alive. I wanted to tell him that he was, that he is. But all I could do was fire my gun in the air and cry."
"Telling him wouldn't be enough."
"All he ever cared about was that bitch Julia, and about his money. Didn't he care about the rest of us? Weren't we important to him?"
"I don't know. It's hard to tell with a guy like Spike."
"He always was hard to read. Sometimes I used to think he was completely devoid of emotion. Sometimes I thought he was hiding something. He never even told me about Julia. Did he tell you?"
"A little, yeah. He probably didn't tell me too much more then he told you. You know, I think I'm actually gonna miss him."
Faye sighed. "He's really gone isn't he? For good?" Jet didn't respond. "I can't believe him. That asshole. And now I've got nowhere to go. I've finally found myself, and it doesn't even matter. So now what?"
Jet hesitated before talking. "You know, I'm probably going to need a new partner. Know where I can get one?"
Faye slowly smiled. "I might as well. I really don't have any other options, I guess."
A few hours later, news of the end of the Red Dragon was already circulating all around the galaxy. From Vicious's takeover to his fall soon after, and reports of a lone man who single-handedly caused the Syndicate's fall, but lost his life in the process.
And life moved on...

FB: Wow, that was actually better than I thought it would be. Sorry my chapters are so short; I hope to fix that eventually. Gomen nasai! Please review, like I said, this is my first serious fic. I hope everyone enjoyed it! Also, thanks to VincentTMW for the name of Faye's ship!
